Two lonely souls engage in an accidental encounter during the time of year that's crucial when you're single. Could they be of comfort for each other in the midst of their own personal dilemmas? Meet Victoria Patterson, a lonely independent sistah who climbed the top of the career ladder as a customer service supervisor in Columbia, SC. After her best friend turned against her and cheated with her boyfriend last Thanksgiving, she has no desire to look forward to the holiday. What makes it even worse is that her mother invited the couple for Thanksgiving dinner. What could make it even more awkward? She decides she doesn't want to spend dinner with her family this year. Enter Alan McKnight, a divorced dad of two who is a delivery driver for QPS. He meets Victoria as he delivered roses to her address and makes a joke about her having roses delivered to herself from herself. Feeling offended by his joking insults, the two adapt in an argument on her doorstep. After a while, she begins to pour out her sadness. Alan then introduces her to his holiday blues as well, revealing that his ex wife left him for the divorce lawyer. Victoria feels his sorrow when he shares with her that his ex wife won't let him see their children for Thanksgiving. The two connect through support and fun filled comfort during the month of November. Both are unaware of the passionate growing feelings that may just give them hope for another shot of happiness. Too much of a good thing may leave them stuffed with love to share with each other. This Thanksgiving, they'll be thankful for the funny encounter.
This story didn't make sense from the beginning...like none.
Victoria's mother needed a good smack. Yeah, this is someone's mother but babe! She would have felt the hand of Gawd okay. Just dismiss your daughter's feelings because of "friends" and "family". Girl gtfo.
The way Victoria and Alan met was...boring. Plus she was so damn wishy washy and so was Alan's butt.
Alan and his ex's relationship? Chile....
And finally, not Victoria's mother with the secret sister guilt trip! That was such a dumb surprise. Made to sense to the overall story.
Alan McKnight knew he wanted to get to know Victoria Patterson, when he delivered a rose delivery to her home in Columbia, SC. Roses that she sent herself, because she was tired of being alone. The courtship that followed, was cute and led to Thanksgiving dinner with the family.
There was one dilemma…Alan’s bitter and petty ex-wife. She was determined to make his life miserable, by the selfish act of keeping his children away from him. Somehow, she had it in her head that her actions would mess up their relationship. That’s when she received a hard lesson.
I loved everything about this holiday-themed read, and highly recommend that you add it to your TBR. This is my first read by the author, but it won’t be my last.
This is by far the worst book I ever read. The writing was so terrible I couldn't finish the book . I am absolutely overjoyed that it was free. The writer needed someone to proofread and rewrite the entire book. I would not recommend this book even though it was free. The names of the characters were mixed up , people with law degrees talk like they were straight from the streets, and the main character was portrayed as such a wuss. This is my first book by this author and my last .
A Thanksgiving miracle, Alan truly needed a break from his evil ex wife , Victoria was still hurt by her ex boyfriend , then by a chance meeting these two met and connected . Which led to a wonderful and passionate love affair.
Just . . . not good. The heroine started out super unlikeable so the quick attraction didn't make sense. There wasn't enough good storytelling to make me care.
I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend this book anyone.
Where was the editor on this one? This book is full of grammatical errors which is extremely annoying! The author's writing style and skills are at best at a basic level and the story has no depth.
Quite a few grammatical and writing errors but it did not keep the book from what it was saying. This book is great and cute and involves two people who have hurt and are learning to get over the pain through each other
There are numerous grammatical and syntactical errors. Gaps in the plot are evident as well as in the setting. For example, freezing weather in mid-autumn in South Carolina.?
I really enjoyed reading this book. I found it funny and both inspiring. The holidays can be a romantic time of year to bring people closer, just like Alan and Victoria.
