Rate this book
Marietta Parks believes that the only way to stop surprises from happening in life is to control your own fate. Paying attention to every detail she scripts out her own life. Leaving love, romance and children out of it. But then she meets a man who just has to be added into her story, Tobias Harden was the man of everyone’s dreams but t her he was a lovely addition to her already scripted life. Tobias convinces Marietta that she needs him in her life. But after three years of marriage and life’s obstacles, he finds himself in bed with another woman. I'm trying to read this though I had to skip many pages. I got the gist of it though,
so this woman walks in on her husband, he is in bed with another woman but it seems the author is trying to put the blame of it on her. She is the one who has to work on her self and her emotions. She wasn't even allowed to get angry at the man. the author is washing it under the rug like there is a fault in the heroine and that's why the hero cheated. Really? Really? I don't care there is never a reason for adultery, if a man wants another woman he should get a divorce.
Yeah he was a playboy and married the heroine because she was pregnant, I think, but when she lost the baby she told him he could leave, it was his choice to stay with her.

The hero is a trifling, no good excuse for a man, no way in this world is this man hero material. The woman he slept with in her house and in her bed is someone she knew. the issue of adultery is too serious to handle this way and for the author to make it seems as if the heroine was to blame because of emotional issues is bullshit.

what really gets me is she talks about how much she loves her husband and how much she misses him
she doesn't get mad. I wish she would throw him to the curve and find a decent man. Her being pregnant shouldn't be a reason to stay with that jerk. It's so jacked up that even her so called friends were on the jerk's side. Chris betrayed her big time.
Why do authors always make it so that it's the heroine's fault that the jerk cheated. Oh, she's in a dark place, she has shut off her emotions, blah, blah, blah, give me a break.

Okay here is his excuse, he was drunk and he thought it was his wife in bed with him when he tried to throw her out the whore threatened him. A big man like him was threatened in having sex with the whore, cheating on his wife.

Authors do me a favor, if you're going to write about infidelity, in this case the husband cheated. give the woman the right to be pissed off and angry, give her the right to tell the man to kiss her ass and go to hell, stop making her past the reason for his cheating. she forgave the jerk way too quickly. the cheating was just brushed under the rug, it wasn't talked about, it wasn't resolved.

I don't think I can stomach reading anything else from this author especially with how she handled the issue of infidelity, basically blaming the heroine for it. blaming her past issues for it and calling it a mistake, that was no mistake, what, he tripped and his clothes fell off while accidentally stripping off the whores clothes and they both fell in his house, in his bed? give me a break, that wasn't a mistake. cheating is an intentional act and he knew exactly what he was doing.

Yep, the adultery washed under the rug, they spent more time on what happened to the heroine in the past, so I guess he will always cheat since he gets away with it. The only pity I felt was for what the heroine went through in the past and wanted to kill Robert myself.

I wish she had thrown the cheating jerk to the curve and met a good man. No I wasn't satisfied with the ending the cheating jerk got off.
I wonder if a man really wrote this. I won't read anything else the author writes. NEVER AGAIn.

I forgot I read a book by this author before this one, she must have a thing for jerks, The guy in, The Rebel's Own, was a big time jerk.

It has taken me a little while to write this review because I wasn't certain what I really felt about it. Denouement is my first book written by this author. The story starts in the present day and caught my attention immediately. Without giving away spoilers, Marietta Parks and Tobias Harden are the main characters and in the present day they are married. An event happens right at the beginning of the book that threatens their relationship. Immediately the reader is flashed back in time to when the troubled loved birds first meet. Tobias is a playboy actor starring in a movie written by Marietta. We learn how they fall in love and I was left thinking that the story was going to be pretty standard romance stuff. The trouble would be resolved by some silly explanation and everything would be a-okay. Ummmm - no (at least most of it didn't go that way). There's more going on than readers think...

The Good: Ms. Kenyan does a great job of giving the reader the background of this couple and, as the story progresses, the history of our heroine. This chick has more issues than you realize and for the most part it kept my attention. This added an unexpected mystery to the story. While I wasn't the biggest fan of Tobias (see below), I liked that the author had him do what he did. He wasn't perfect by any means and to be honest he was such a player before they married that his slip-up felt realistic.

The Not-So-Good: I wasn't buying the love story between these two. I needed some reason other than great sex and Tobias being the hottest man on the face of the planet as a reason why they actually fell in love. This guy was literally getting nookie from every female on the movie set before the characters come together. So much so that when he finally gets to her she feels like a conquest who he magically develops true feelings for because she held out the longest. Honestly I feared that she'd catch some STD from this guy he was such a man-whore. I also didn't really care for the reason behind his screw-up at the beginning. Felt like an excuse and not a good one at that.

My Final Thoughts: This was an okay read for me. Not perfect but not awful either. I would recommend it to anyone wants a light and relatively entertaining read with a bit of a mystery. While it was my first book by this author, it won't be my last. I give it three and a half stars, mainly for the twists in the story.

Delightful

This is by far one of her best story. I am pleasantly story because I always felt unfulfilled every time I read one of M.O.'s books...some I returned without finishing...but this one just had me going on and on. Tobias and Marietta's story is irresistible....the insecurities, betrayals, sexual abuse, Hollywood fluff and stuff....nothing seemed to hinder the love between them...even the heartbreak of losing a child...I wished that the sexual abuse storyline could have been dealt with seriously....especially abuse of a child..The ending was definitely better .

KU: triggers

This was a good book with a lot of twists and turns. Mattie and Toby had a roller coaster relationship. You can guess what happens after the opening and even prouder on one of the twists. The third one was pretty sad.

While Toby didn't have a lot of character development he complimented Mattie(Marietta) who seriously needed someone strong by her side.

skip it

The story was choppy meaning they would talk about one thing, then they would talk about something unrelated in the same paragraph. Many times I thought what are they talking about? I skimmed so much because there was so much boring reading in the second half especially. What the hell was throwing in the father at the end about? Made no sense. The infidelity felt like no big deal and the heroine and hero had no history. They seemed like practical strangers. Why would they charge $3.99 for this is beyond me. I never say this but in regards to this author, will avoid her books from now on! Don’t waste half your day like I did!

So we have Marietta (Heroine) and Tobias (Hero) playboy. The story starts of with the heroine on her way home with a film crew (2). She has great news to announce to her husband and wants his reaction filmed. Yep, there's a surprise reaction alright, the film crew catch her husband in bed with another woman, later on in the story, her husband claims he was drunk and blackmailed into sleeping with the woman.

It's from here that the story goes back and tells of how Marietta met Tobias, he was a playboy actor that slept with nearly everybody on film (females). She was the screen writer.

I found my interest in this book waning around the middle of the book, despite that, I kept on reading.

There were bits and pieces that didn't sit right with me in this book. In the beginning, it makes reference about the absence of her father, she refers to him as a "Liar Liar" and "The Invisible Man" and feels gutted that he couldn't attend her brother's funeral, didn't even attend her mother's funeral. However later on in the story, we find out this man is the one that causes her to have nightmares and that he did some bad things to her as a young child.

Final thoughts on the book:- I have mixed feelings of disappointment and/or rating it as a passable read. I found it hard to like the heroine because she seemed --- I don't know Bipolar. I mean I think I remember she gave the hero, a kiss on his throat on the way out the door, when she leaves, just after she caught him in bed with the other woman, man who does that? Unless it's the kiss of death and she has people waiting outside, ready to finish him off.

She presented as a strong woman with a successful career, she was going places, but with Tobias she seemed like a sucker. She acknowledges the hurt she feels from her husband's infidelity but dismisses it, the two month separation is like his punishment, like really!!! Your husband is caught in your house with another woman, doing the deed on your marriage bed. Ok I'm outta here, going to read another book and get good vibes.

This is not the first book I have read from this author, it's the first one I haven't enjoyed reading.

Marietta Parks was a highly successful screenwriter that tightly controlled every aspect of her life. She exercises her childhood demons with every story written. Marriage and love are foreign concepts that only exists in make believe, and have no place in her life. Until she meets bad boy Tobias Harden.

Tobias was the last complication Marietta needed in her life. The son of a famous actor with his own hidden demons to exercise. Their first sexual encounter was more than she could imagine with unexpected results.

This is not a story about Hollywood, but about real people with real emotions. I loved the flaws, insecurities and other issues in both characters. It is very hard to change another person perception of your character when they are looking thru blurred vision. Tobias was not going to let Marietta run/push him away which is a great thing.

Denouement is not erotic, but it is steamy. I recommend this for a good read.

I was given a free copy in return for an honest opinion.....

I loved this story. This was about a screenwriter and an actor, but the glitz and glamour didn't rule the story. The emotions were real, the story very sad at some points, but you do get the HEA even though it may not seem like it at some points. The story flowed very well and it captivated me the whole time. When I took restroom breaks, I couldn't wait to come back to start reading again. If you want a story with the possibilities of being true without being over the top, then this is the story for you. This is a true love story.

When I started the book I put it aside because of the male leads cheating episode but I picked it back up. It was slow reading at first but it picked up. I wanted to know how the couple would work through the issue of infidelity
