"Watch for the Four Enemies of Passion: fatigue, busyness, over-scheduling and putting God last on your daily schedule." (Mike Murdock, The Making of a Champion)

The author says that the dictionary defines passion as "one who shows marked superiority" and that champions are made, not born....one day at a time.

This book contains 31 power keys to unleashing your personal greatness. Some of these keys include:

1. Recognize that the Word of God is the Wisdom of God;
2. Set Goals and Update Them Continuously;
3. Anticipate and Avoid Unnecessary Conflict;
4. Habitualize Order;
5. Use Words that Matter in Every Conversation;
6. Invest the Time Necessary to Negotiate Effectively;
7. Treasure and Protect Your Flow of Passion...

My favourite chapter was no. 7 in respect to treasuring and protecting your passion. He says, "Men (and women) who succeed greatly possess great passion for their Assignment. They are consumed and obsessed. It burns within them like fire. Nothing else matters to them but the completion of the instructions of God in their lives." He shares examples of the passion of Christ, Isaiah, and the Apostle Paul. The Bible says, "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart" (Hebrews 12:2-3). Jesus had a passion for His Assignment to go to the Cross to defeat death, hell and the grave. To take back what the first Adam had lost during The Fall. To take all our sins, sicknesses, diseases, pains, sorrows...on the Cross, so that we could be forgiven, healed, delivered, saved, cleansed, our relationship with God restored...

The author talks about how we must protect our passion by guarding our focus every hour and avoiding distractions. This spoke to me personally because I have seen this so many times in my own life. People, conflict, thoughts, circumstances, etc have come, and have tried to get me off my Assignment. The same will happen to you; it is important that we are aware of these distractions and focus, concentrate, and not allow these things to deter us. The good work that God has begun in you, HE will complete. HE is going to complete what He began in you and me. Amen! (See Philippians 1:6).

"Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life"
(Proverbs 4:23).

Mike shows you that sitting around waiting for greatness won't get much done. He explains that you have to go out there and make it happen.
