Who is the object of this little mouse's affections? He doesn't know her yet - not yet, anyway. But he's seen her in his dreams, and he's determined to search for her far and wide. That fair young mouse could be anywhere. She might even be right under that little mouse's own whiskers.

I think every girl next door who has a crush on the boy next door would relate to and love this book! A beautiful book about a boy mouse in search of a sweetheart.
**Talking points - How did your parents meet? How did your grandparents meet? Have you met anyone you would like to be your sweetheart? How did you meet?
Cute illustrations are the best part about this book. A mouse pines for a love he's never met. Romantic notion, but more dreamy than real. Of course it has a happy ending. Our girls thought it was a fun tale, and they enjoyed the conversational style of the narration.
Maybe more for adults? I remember pulling the petals off flowers to get an answer re' my crushes, but even then I don't think this book would've made much of an impression on me. The girl mouse has no personality, is just an object.
This is a simple short story about a mouse who is very in love with the mouse of his dreams, but he is unsure who she is. When looking for this perfect mouse he picks flowers and sings, "She loves me, she loves me not" and he goes rollerblading all over town. After this, the little mouse is determined and mentions how we will go by boat, train, plane etc to find this wonderful mouse of his dreams. He goes on many hunts to find her and in the very end of the book after traveling near and far he realizes that the mouse he is crazy about is the mouse next door and he falls in love with that wonderful mouse. I think this book would be most appropriate to read near Valentine’s Day. I would recommend that you read it to Kindergarten to 2nd grade as a little story before they have their Valentine Celebration.
Although pretty short in length this book I thought was cute. It’s about a mouse who is daydreaming about a mouse that he is in love with! After being asked several questions from his mouse friend, the other mouse ends up finding his love of his life….right next door to him! Throughout the book, the mouse describes what he has to do to find the love of his life such as traveling by train and plane! The mouse questioner asks the other mouse if he has any luck and if he is tired and he says, “I’m pooped”! The illustrations in this book were simple yet colorful and I would say suited for a kindergarten to 2nd grade classroom. This could even work as a good circle time read around Valentine’s day!
Mouse is trying to find the mousie that he is in love with. He travels by boat, by plane, and train. He travels far and wide to find his love. And then he is hungry and goes home for dinner. Then he realizes his mouse he is in love with lives next door.
This is really cute story. It's fun and it keeps you in the book and makes you feel the emotions that the mouse is feeling. This story keeps your attention and makes you want to keep reading.
This is a sweet love story about two mice. It is an easy read and I would like for students to use this book as independent reading in first grade. It has a lot of rhyming words and great, silly illustrations all of which I think students will enjoy. I would like to read this book on Valentine's Day!
This book is about a mouse who is in love. He has found the mouse of his dreams and he is going to find her. He searches all day until it's finally time for dinner. He realizes the mouse of his dreams is the mouse next door. I enjoyed reading this book. It was an easy read for me. I think students in my classroom would also like this book because of the rhyming.
I randomly picked up this title because of its illustrator Jose Aruego whose work I always liked. I did not notice the book was written by Robert Kraus. Anyway it was a cute take on the "boy" mouse searches for the "girl" mouse and finds her next door. Interesting look at love via the mouse world.
This shows children that when you are looking for something you do not necessarily have to search far away places, sometimes you just need to look right next door. This book also shows children that if you want something you have to search for it, because it is not always handed to you.
This book is short cute and simple, but it kind of reminded me of a cheesy valentines day card. It wasn't very original but a young child would probably adore this book.
