The Westmorelands #10

Seduction, Westmoreland Style

Rate this book
Montana horse breeder McKinnon Quinn savored his "no women on my ranch" rule. So when Casey Westmoreland asked for a job training horses, he turned her down flat. For despite her innocent looks, she tempted him beyond reason.

Casey had vowed to get McKinnon to hire her and make him her first--her only--lover. Yet after every steamy encounter, the infuriating man dodged her.

It was as if he had a secret he was desperate to keep… making Casey just as desperate to uncover it.

3 stars. Not my favorite in the series but I appreciate that Ms. Jackson did something different in regards to the hero and his health issue. That was refreshing in that this didn't end the exact same way all the other books tend to end but I didn’t like the hero himself. McKinnon was way too misogynistic and I hate how he just kept taking Casey’s options and choices from her. He was giving that girl the run around and it got on my last nerves. I did like Casey though, she was great and I loved that we got to read from another female Westmoreland since the last time that happened was in book one of the series. The romance was fine, not my fave, but the ending was nice. Overall, this was a miss but I still do love this series. Can’t love them all.

My first Brenda Jackson! I defs want to read more. This book was published in 2007 and feels very dated reading in 2022. But that’s not surprising imo. I liked the tension between the characters, and it’s definitely love/lust at first sight. However I do want to point out that the author uses the word “savage” in reference to the hero, who is Black and Native, and in another part refers to him as (paraphrasing) “a warrior who looked like he’d carry her away if she refused his request” which is problematic

A female Westmoreland as the lead character is a refreshing change. Casey Westmoreland moves to Montana to be near her newly discovered father, Corey. She thinks living near Corey will help her develop the father/daughter relationship she was denied by having grown up in Texas. To sustain her financially while living in Montana, Casey decides to seek employment doing what she loves – horse training. Innocently, she applies for a position as horse trainer for long time Westmoreland family friend, McKinnon Quinn. Stubborn, male chauvinist Quinn, doesn’t believe the petite Casey can handle the horses he is trusted with training by his business partners. Not only does Casey convince him otherwise, but she also eventually softens his hardened heart with a little seduction Westmoreland style. I loved this purely romantic tale – no mystery, intrigue or terrorism . Since I have a native American heritage, I was enamored with the wild and ruggedly handsome no nonsense McKinnon Quinn. Casey helps tame his inhibitions and solves Quinn’s closely guarded secret.

Sedution At It's Finest

Brenda Jackson does not disappiont! Even though we know how the story will end, reading about Casey and McKinnon journey is well worth it. The chemistry between Casey and McKinnon was undeniable. Loved the cave scene. A Great story, despite the typos!! Can't wait for the next one.

Casey Westmoreland is one of the triplets that Corey Westmoreland had no idea existed. Now living on Corey's Mountain, Casey wants to be a horse trainer. I didn't like how many decisions McKinnon made concerning Casey's job, life and future without talking to Casey first. But I really enjoyed when she laid into him about it! You go girl!!!!!!

What a sweet romance

This story was about two stubborn people. One did not want a relationship because of rejection he suffered with a previous relationship. But McKinnon Quinn found himself head over heals in love with Casey Westmoreland. He could not give Casey what he thought all women wanted and fought his attraction as best he could.

Casey refused to be like he mother and refused to have a relationship and call in love with a man who could not love her and found not give her his heart. That was until she felt that electrical pull to McKinnon every time she was around him. She fell head over heals in love with him too. But then he remembered the last time he had a relationship and could not hear it if Casey pulled away like Lynnette. Casey had to persuade him that she was not like th at and that she loved him no matter what, they'd work out their problems as long as they could do it together and have their HEA

I really like how things were resolved in this one. McKinnon is a horse rancher and has a horse that needs training and Casey has proven she can do it, but he doesn't want to hire her because he vowed that no woman would be allowed on his ranch because of a previous relationship. It ended badly because of a medical issue if his. Casey is fuming because she knows she can do the job. When he asks her to work for him, she refuses. She does change her mind and then things ramp up. I love this series!

I am a BIG fan of Brenda Jackson's Westmoreland Men Series (Can't get enough), and this is the second one with a woman. Not many women Westmoreland. I mean the ones born not married into the family.
Casey Westmoreland and her brothers (Clint and Cole. Clint, now that's the Westmoreland I love to death), finds out years later that the father they thought was dead is not. Casey's brothers move on an accept their father, but Casey still has some ill feelings. She moves to Montana, sells her store, to be near him to get to know him. While in Montana, she applies for a job as a Horse Trainer with McKinnon. He does not like women on his ranch, but eventually he does give her the job on a dare.

Now as with all romance books, the looks, steamy sweat, staring into either other's eyes, hot in the pants deelings and tempted like hell, they both finally get it on. Romance can be a bit boring because you know what is going to happen. Mrs. Jackson, though, has a way of throwing a little wrench in the story and that’s when you get hooked.

McKinnon won’t open his heart (even though you know he does), and Casey accepts that she is in love and gives her viginity to him, but something else is lingering over their heads and it will come to a head. This is the third time I read this book. I always start from the beginning of the Westmoreland series, Delaney’s Desert Sheikh and can’t stop until I finished them all. Now I see there are more cousins and in-laws. I got to start over again, but hey, it’s all good.

I think I should be pretty much done with the Westmoreland series now. There's just so many of them! And once you add in their friends and the families of their spouses, it really can go on forever.

Casey Westmoreland has just become reacquainted with the father she thought was deceased. To help foster the new relationship, she closes her clothing boutique in Texas and moves to Montana to be closer to him and the family she never knew. It will also give her a chance to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a horse trainer and she hopes that family friend, McKinnon Quinn will give her the opportunity to work on his ranch.

Even though her experience and training more than qualifies her for the job, what she doesn't count on is coming up against McKinnon's "no women on the ranch" rule. The rule was enacted in the aftermath of his last disastrous relationship. Casey must then set out to prove to McKinnon that she belongs there.

It started slow for me and I became frustrated because I was getting tired of the same story line. Girl and boy argue. Girl thinks boy hot boy thinks girl hot. Boy won't commit because of past. Girl virgin or had one lover. However boy and girl have mind blowing sex. Girls first time however they have multiple sex on her first go round. Boring. This is in almost every romance novel you read. However by the time you get to the middle almost the end, the story picks up and becomes something you are interested in again. I'm ready for someone to turn these romance novels on its head and produce something a little more real. And I'm not talking about those hood drama novels (urban books). I still want romance but I want believable romance.

All in all, I liked the book once I got to the middle.

Brenda Jackson has done it again! She has created a tastful romance novel that draws you in from the beginning to the end. It was so interesting I read it in two days. There were a few grammatical errors in the book. With such great storylines, I would suggest getting a better editor/proofreader.

This book is #10 in the Westmorland series. This book had me crying at the end. Sensitive and touching. McKinnon Quinn is a horse breeder on his ranch, and he has this “no women on my ranch” rule, because of a past relationship that left him cold and hurt. He vows never to fall in love, no marriage, no children. But when Casey Westmoreland comes to his ranch seeking a job to train horses, he refuses to hire her. However, he finds out not only is she good at training horses, but his desperation to train a particular horse in a given amount of time, he needs her. After the madness of them going back and forth spatting, they develop an intimate relationship with rules that nothing will come out of their love making, but pleasure. However, they fall in love and McKinnon goes to ducking and dodging Casey, because he could not bear, not being able to give her what she may want one day due to his condition. Out of Love Casey refuse to give up on their relationship and that is when my crying began.

I loved this book; it was sweet and tender. There was a lot of intimate passion and you could tell through the story, that McKinnon and Casey were truly in love with each other. I give this book 5 out of 5 ★★★★★stars. It was amazing and excellent read, I was totally engaged into the story and I highly recommend this book. A definite re-read.

MY CHOICE OF CASTING:
 Andrea Bordeaux as Casey Westmoreland
 Martin Sensmeier as McKinnon Quinn

Casey Westmoreland has only recently (in a previous book, I'm assuming) discovered that her father is alive. She has decided to move to Bozeman to be closer to her father and make a job change. She'd like to be a horse trainer. Specifically, shed like to train horses for McKinnon Quinn. The 6'3" man is incredibly handsome as well as being the owner of a ranch where she could thrive. But he also has a rule against women working for him. But when he needs a horse trainer ASAP, he finally asks her to come work for him. And the proximity heightens feelings.
I didn't realize this book was set in Bozeman. I live very near there and can get very turned off by stories that get the area wrong but Jackson kept the facts fairly broad. And the fact that the narrator decided to give McKinnon a slight southern drawl (rather than Casey who grew up in Texas) was odd.
This was my first book in the series and I didn't feel like I had missed too much but there were some holes in stories here and there.
McKinnon was Just So Dramatic. Dude, just tell the woman what's on your mind. Then you could, I don't know, make decisions together based on a mutual understanding of what is going on with you both. Rather than making sweeping decisions about the relationship.

This Westmoreland story was about one of the three female Westmoreland's.
Casey wants a job training horses and decides to ask McKinnon Quinn, a horse breeder and close friend of her father's, for a job. But McKinnon has a rule "no women on my ranch" and turns her down flat without giving a reason. That is until he sees her quiet down a million dollar prize race horse before it kills one of the ranch hands. Still he doesn't offer her a job. Its only after he can't find a trainer for the horse that he tricks her into taking the job knowing that if he offered her the job now she would turn him down.
Their being in close contact on the ranch leads to their desire for each other but McKinnon has a secret and Casey wants to uncover it so their relationship can go further, hopefully to marriage.
It got frustrating trying to find out what that secret was but I guessed at it since there aren't many reasons a man wouldn't want to get married however its never fully revealed and that, I felt, was a cop out by the author.

I Love these Westmoreland Boys. I cannot believe how sexy ALL of Brenda Jackson's characters are! And the circumstances in this book were RIGHT up my alley for a fantastic romantic read! I gobbled it up in a day too. These women know they have the right to their Westmoreland men and they are not trying to compromise anything. I love all the strength and intelligence they show in navigating the relationships they have with the boys. I just love the premise of the guys too with their little pact? Ha! It's bound to be broken! Definitely recommend!

It was ok but I really don't like that hero and heroine won't have biological children (aren't there genetic testing of sperm doctors can do to make sure baby won't inherit certain diseases?). I get that it's a good thing but I hate the finality of it and I kind of lost interest in the story after finding that out midway through. Np.

I am still enjoying these, 10 books in and they are in no way difficult to devour. I am a big fan when a character reconises what a doofus they are being and makes up for their stupidity. On to the next!!

This was my least favorite book in the Westmoreland series. Audio narration is horrible and does not match the genre. I couldn’t get into this book but I’m no quitter so I finished but nothing exciting really happens until towards the end. Even that wasn’t amazing.

McKinnon and Casey's story was really good. They butted heads at first but that was just them fighting the chemistry they had. That fight didn't last long. Casey was able to process her family issues and fall in love at the same time. I really enjoyed this book.

I’m sorry, what 30 year old horse trainer still has an intact hymen forming a noticeable barrier?

I guess this book wins the award for world’s strongest hymen.
