Although frustrated in his attempt to acquire Steele Corporation, arrogant millionaire Cameron Cody will not be denied the firm's most attractive asset, Vanessa Steele. So when Cameron learns that Vanessa is house-sitting for her sister in Jamaica, he buys the adjoining property and makes her an offer she can't refuse.
Cameron is determined to prove to Vanessa that he is the one temptation she cannot resist, but she is equally determined to prove him wrong. What Vanessa doesn't suspect is that Cameron intends to brand her so deeply with his island passion, that once they're back in the States, she'll be the one in hot pursuit.

So I listened to the audiobook and am listening again ~in case I missed anything but like ...
Again, I'm not even ... it's a miss of some of the lines - which would be cherrypicked by a comedian to make fun of. They are cringeworthy. And I think as long time romance readers it's more like "well we take the bad with the good and the good FAR outweighs the bad" so there's that.
I guess I should check when this book was published - but ... my issues with it aren't "time specific" in that ... it's the heroine's hypocrisy.
She literally says like "oh you can't believe everything you see/hear - especially second hand" but then she ABSOLUTELY constantly judges the hero for shit like that. Also for her carrying a grudge for him trying to take over her family's company.
And she even [low key] admits there were outside factors - like losing a family member [her dad I think?] maybe? around that time?
... Then there's the fact that she judges Cameron based on that one professor dude from ~4 years ago?
...
For Cameron though. The "trick" annoyed me. I'm rolling my eyes just thinking about it now. Maybe because I'd just listened to Morgan's book. And both of them WANT real relationship but they decide/"know" the heroine "isn't ready for one yet" so they try to play it cool and be like "no this is just pretend" for Morgan and for Cameron it's "well I just want a hook up" - but then they're frustrated when their ladyloves are holding back - and it's like WELL NO SHIT YOU JUST TOLD THEM IT'S NOTHING TO DO WITH REAL RELATIONSHIPS OR EMOTIONS OR LOVE.
I really hated the games.
Honestly I'd say ... ugh [also the stuff in TX WTF]
D for now, or D- :X
but ... again - am re-listening to it ..
3/31 - the re-read ... yeah :X no improvement :\ same issues - same being annoyed with her being so clueless and the hypocrisy and ...
I'm normally way team heroine but this time I'm team Cameron even though I wish he'd just been honest and talked with Vanessa but ALSO I get why he didn't because she was just a brick wall. Bleh.
Risky Pleasures. This book plays on the heart. Its steamy and sexy. Vanessa goes to Jamaica to housesit for her sister and to get away from Cameron. Cameron wants her and she can't get arounf the fact he tried to take their family's company. To her surprise, Cameron follows her to Jamaica and gives her a proposition that she takes him up on. They have a fling on the island and decide to not speak once back in Charlotte. But of course after their fling, it was much harder to stay away from each other. When she discovers the real Cameron, she realizes she is in love with him and can't live without. Great read.
Hot! Hot! Hot! Vanessa Steele is a fierce and independent woman who is not about to allow Cameron Cody to take over her life the way he takes over Corporations! He once had the audacity to try to take over Steele Corporation. So no! Vanessa is not having it!!! When Vanessa learns Cameron is coming to Charlotte, N. Carolina, she gets on a plane to go house sit for her sister in Jamaica. So what does Cameron do? He buys the house next door and it's on!!!!!
Cameron and Vanessa were a sort of enemies to lovers romance. She hated him but he was infatuated with her. It could have possibly been love at first sight. He was hellbent on having her. Letting her believe she was in control allowed him to get her to agree to an affair. Didn't take long for them both to fall in love. This was a really good story. I enjoyed watching her fall right into his trap. I enjoyed this book a lot.
This was a story about Vanessa Steele and Cameron Cody. He has been in pursuit of Vanessa since they first met. She however disliked him because he overtook companies that weren't caring of it's employees. He made his mission to get her on his side. After a two week island fling in Jamaica things changed for the better foe Cameron. They finally professed their love to each other.
Brenda Jackson is one of my favorite authors but this book was a disappointment. Vanessa came across as a privileged brat. The subplot was bordering on ridiculous and certainly unbelievable. I love a steamy love story but the same sex scenes played over and over in this story. I gave it three stars because I did like the male lead, Cameron.
Vanessa got on my nerves until almost the end. How you except a sexcapade with a man you think you despise? Cameron was too aggressive and cocky just like many men. Thinking he can have a woman and constantly getting under her skin. Finally worked out in the end but it took too long to get to the romance and sex.

I liked this erotic romance. I bought this at our local Goodwill store. I've given this a 4.0* rating and this is not one for the under 18 readers. It is full of sexual content. Too much for my liking. If you like that sort of thing, you may really like this. It ends well with a little excitement to stir things up.
This series is superb, I'm enjoying the storylines and lessons with each book. This book has a few and the author explained and answered. Two that I liked was Cameron was spurred by his grandfather's plight. He succeeded in settling with the company. And Vanessa was accused of having no passion. Well the right person...
Wish we would have heard more about how Cameron and Vanessa turned out. Seems like their story ended abruptly. The book then jumped back to Leah & Reese. It’s was odd with no transition.
Vanessa Steele had something on her hands if she thought that Cameron Cody was going to let her keep dismissing him since he tried talking over her family's company more than three years ago. To prove his point, he not only purchased the house next door to her sister's house in Jamaica while she was house sitting for two weeks, he also informed her that he would be making his permanent residence in Charlotte where she lived. He turned on the heat after their two week affair so that she would not forget that he would be available to her anytime, anywhere, or in any position. He was relentless in going after the woman that he loved and let steal his heart. Awesome love story and definitely a must read!
love it i think brenda jackson is a very talented author and hope to get more great books from her

Cameron oh boy, I'd love to be trapped on an island with a man like that as my neighbor. This story was just right with more than enough drama from not only Vanessa and her stubbornness but also from the fool trying to kill him. Morgan was all for her falling for Cody which was the reason I wanted to read this. Cameron was more than willing to wait on her to get over her hang ups but once he had her she stood no chance at getting away. Loved it and can't wait to hear more about those Steel's.
Well written story of a man determined to win the one he loves. Able to conquer in the area of business Cameron has to fight in the arena of love. Realising it won't come easy, he uses another tactic to win the one he loves. With this tactic he comes close to losing but passion and desire with much pleasure propelled him towards the most important takeover of his life. An enjoyable read.
Loved it but I did want more in the ending with Vanessa and Cody (More detail) How'd the wedding go was she pregnant? etc. I thought their story was geniune and unlike any of the others. I really thought Vanessa was going to be captured and Cameron. I thought he accepted her back too soon also. So this one was like a 4.5.

I choose this rating because of all the action that is contained in this story. In the beginning I didn't like Cameron Cody, so I can say well written Mrs. Jackson. In the end Cameron Cody was everything a real man was made of, and I loved his character. Kudos to Vanessa for holding out until she learned the truth about Cameron.
There was such high hopes for this story. It could have been good if there was a little less sex, and a little more development of their characters and flaws. It was there, but I think that it could have been explored further.
The 'Steele" family's story had already got me hooked by the time I got to this book. It is an easy-flowing story with larger than life characters who are deep and believable. The settings are realistic and the steamy story elements interspersed well.
Not really reading the Steele series in order or sure I'll read the whole thing but so far I like the series. These successful siblings find their soul mates and Cameron and Vanessa are definitely made for each other.
I want a take charge man to tell me that I am not only going to love him but I am going to be his wife. I want to go play on the beach of Jamaica too. BJ didn't fail with Cameron and Vanessa. Love those Steeles and Westmorelands.
