Super simple book about a bossypants girl yelling at her cats to listen to her. She invited about 20 cats over and expected them to listen to her. They ruin her house and they hug it out.

(They better have human fingers and some bleach to get that stink out before they head back to their alleyway!)

First sentence: Cats! Come in, cats. Let's play, cats. Please, cats! Stay on the floor.

Premise/plot: If you have a beginning reader who loves cats, this one is an absolute must. It has just thirty-three different words, most of them quite simple to read. If you tend to think that beginning readers must by necessity lack story, again this is a must. The story is about a little girl and her crazy cats.

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this one. There are not a lot of words per page, but it's not light on story. It's a fun, engaging, SILLY story starring LOTS of CATS.

I call it MEG: A BIOGRAPHY.
Bahahahaha ok, in all seriousness: I've long been familiar with Rookie Readers as a brand, but I think this is the first time I've ever sat down to read one. Average illustrations, writing style as expected (I guess this just means that any mediocre cat book will be ranked unfairly high on the Meg Scale). A nice balance of sight words and vocab that might be new for emerging readers.

This is a cute beginning reader book about cats. There's a short sentence on each page, accompanied by a fun illustrations. With only 33 different words, the narrative is simple enough for beginning readers, but it has a few challenging words, too. Our youngest read this aloud to us.
