Canción de Navidad: Ilustrado
Cancion de Navidad (A Christmas Carol) fue publicada por Chapman & Hall el 19 de diciembre de 1843. En una novela de fantasmas donde se cuenta la historia de un hombre avaro y egoista llamado Ebenezer Scrooge y su transformacion tras ser visitado por una serie de espiritus en Nochebuena. La novela consiguio un inmediato exito y el aplauso de la critica. El libro fue escrito y publicado durante la epoca victoriana, un tiempo en el que existia una gran nostalgia por las viejas tradiciones navidenas unida a la introduccion de nuevas costumbres como los arboles de Navidad o las tarjetas de felicitacion. Las inspiraciones de Dickens para escribir la novela parecen ser muchas y variadas, pero las principales son las tristes y humillantes experiencias de su infancia. La novela fue vista por la critica como una condena del capitalismo industrial del siglo XIX. Tambien se ha considera que contribuyo a la restauracion de la Navidad como una epoca de celebracion y festividad en el Reino Unido y Estados Unidos tras un periodo mas sobrio y sombrio. El libro sigue siendo popular, ya que nunca ha dejado de publicarse y ha sido adaptado en numerosas ocasiones al cine, teatro y la television."

The original story is a classic for a reason. It is ultimately a story that in a sense uses Christmas as a time to reflect on the consequences of ones actions in life, for better or for worse, and what really matters to put our focus on before we die.
As a learner adaptation for students of the Spanish language, I do appreciate that this exists. they make some other books with a similar theme, they take classic books and re-write them in a "beginner level" Spanish. this is a fantastic idea and I hope they continue to publish these books. I do think though, that I will want to read them after experiencing the original first, because it is impossible to write a beginner translation, without missing some of what was originally in the story. Not to mention, reading as a beginner of a different language, you're bound to miss some of the nuances, even if working with the original source material, itself. Anyway, they did a pretty good job. though I do think this was a bit closer to A2 than A1... either that or the other readers I've read are just written way too easy. Either way, it was a good experience. Glad I could finish right before midnight on New Years. Also, I'm pretty sure the illustrations were AI. If not, they were still a bit odd.
I'm rating the product as an adaptation, not the original story in itself.

Dickens's story of Christmas is one of the best ever written, in my estimation. Heartening in any language!

Es de fácil lectura en ambos idiomas, la trama es evidente pero lleva a una linda reflexión sobre la avaricia y el pasar el tiempo con los seres queridos, linda lectura para la época navideña
