Written in 1929, this book offered a fine history of the people and incidents that changed Chicago as it grew from a muddy little town to a powerhouse.
The first half occupied most of my attention, with an amusing voice that charmed while providing useful details. Great reference for my novel set at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893!

I have the original 1929 edition of this book. Anyone who loves the city should read this.
