Second book in the Grendel Unit series, this one follows 2nd in command Frank Kelly. Although, continuing straight after book one, flashbacks show how Kelly became a medic and net the team.

For me, part two of the Grendel Unit series was better than part one. The action was more exciting, the story was more focus and the author gave us more background information about the world, the unit and some characters. The focus is mainly on one character (the field medic) but we overall get more depth on everyone involve. The use of flashback is use more comprehensively by the author then in the other series that I read from him (Seneca 6) and everything is pertinent to the story. The Grendel Unit is simply put, a well done, fun space adventure with quality writing and great characters.
