September 18, 2015DNF @ 25%- I really tried to give this book a shot. I like reading new authors (this is a debut title) and I love a good "woman on the run" story but unfortunately, I couldn't make it very far. I even tried liberally skimming to see if maybe the author just got off to a rough start. Unfortunately, it started bad and didn't get better. I really hate saying that but feel like I need to be honest, especially because there are so many ratings that would give the impression this was a solid book. Obviously, this is just my opinion, and others may read this book and love it... but I thought it was awful and even when picked up for free, not worth reading.

This was a fabulous read for a first-time author!!! I did notice some grammatical errors, but other than that, I felt the story flowed very well. I had moments where I laughed. I even had moments where I cried. Amongst all the emotions this story brought out in me, joy at being able to share in this couples struggles and triumphs was the biggest and best I had ever felt. I am overjoyed at this book and I cannot wait for the next book that she decides to publish because I will definitely be buying it!!!

What an amazing story. It had me wanting more. Hailee escapes an abusive relationship. The guy tried to kill her. I'm so glad he didnt get away. I wanted to jump in the book and beat him senseless.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and a review.
This is Elizabeth Princeton début novel!
I just adore finding new authors who are brand spanking new to the romance world. It is exciting to me to find an author who has a fresh way of thoughts ideas and story lines.
This book was good début novel. It is sexy, raw, fierce, passionate, It for sure takes you on a roller coaster of emotions with some twists and turns along the way.
The story line will for sure pull at your heart and get you to believe in second chances. This book is fast paced read and one you can read now the sun is out.
This book is all about Hailee and Shawn.
Hailee has lived in some of the worst pits of sheer hell it all got cleverly disguised as love, only for her to barely make it out alive.
Now she is free and can start to live again for herself and no one else but she still has this darkness these shadows of her past. Then she meets Shawn but Hailee does not trust men at all but she cant seem to help herself where he is concerned she is drawn to him in such a way that she just cant explain it.
Shawn hasn't had it easy either he is still grieving and trying to heal from the terrible loss of his wife. He only has his K9 partner know and he thinks that ist all he really needs.... that is until he meets Hailee.
When he meets Hailee, he is completely and utterly drawn to her. He can even see that she carries allot of weight on her shoulders, and she certainly has some demons that she is battling with just like Shawn is.
Can they both find the healing they truly need and find there Happy Ever After.
This is a good début novel but it needs a load of tweaking, i liked the characters the emotions but i found there connection needed some more work.
I love how protective Shawn is of her and found her nickname ' Shortcake ' very cute.
I am sure with a bit of fine tuning that Elizabeth Books can only get better and better

I was pulled right into this story. The story has abuse, stalker, pain, grief, laughs, kidnapping, second chances, and heartbreak.
This is Hailee and Shawn’s story. Hailee has just gotten out of an abusive relationship. She is trying to move on in a new town. Shawn lost the love of his life and is just getting buy. A chance meeting has them both wanting more. When you are fighting the past and a ghost to try and build something new do you stay or run? With the threats of the past willing to kill anyone that stands in there way will you run just to keep everyone safe? Who is coming for Hailee if Brandon is doing time for his crimes? When the past truly crashes into the present is Hailee truly safe? Or is she about to go through something she might never recover from? Will Shawn be able to keep Hailee or is she gone from him forever? Will they get there second chance at love?
I felt I was able to connect with the characters. Would have loved to learn more about both characters pasts. The back story was a little light on details for the both of them. The relationship moved a little fast for a woman coming out of an abusive relationship. Hailee did a lot of back and forth with her flashbacks and relationship with Shawn. There are times in this story where you want to smack both of them but in the end it was worth it.
I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

What a great debut novel! I love finding authors who are brand new to the romance writing world. It is so exciting to find a new author who has a fresh mind and fresh thoughts. And with that, this author totally blew me out of the water and left me wanting more at the end.
This book was good. It was sexy, sweet, intense, passionate, emotional, and had quite a few twists and turns along the way. This book will pull at your heartstrings and make you believe in second chances. This book is a fast read and definitely one to read this summer.

When I first saw the beautiful cover, and read the blurb for this book I knew I had to read it. When it showed up on my Kindle everything else was forgotten, I just couldn't wait to begin .
Hailee has more than her fair share of demons in her life, and Shawn needs to find himself again...even though he doesn't realize it. Can two broken souls find love and happiness?
Elizabeth gives us an amazing story from the first word to the last. Shawn makes the perfect book boyfriends..he made his way to my top 3 or 4 (and that's saying something. ..I read A LOT!!) He's sweet, southern, and a gentleman in every sense. Hailee goes grom sweet and shy to a spitfire, I loved watching her come alive. Even the secondary characters draw you in. I found myself excited to learn more about Lance, Amy, and Mason. The way the characters interacted, and the story flowed makes me excited to see where Elizabeth takes these amazing people and their stories. I didn't want the book to end. This book will definitely be one I read again and again. I would recommend that everyone read it. In fact I have already started recommending it. Lol.

This debut book is a great start for this new author. I felt like Hailee and Shawn were two characters that really drew me into their story. Knowing they each came from very dark places to be together just made the story that much sweeter.
I love that Shawn called her “Shortcake” and that he immediately felt protective of her. I liked that she wasn’t immediately in his bed though she too felt a connection. I liked that he was patient and she took her time.
The bonus characters were also great additions to the story. I felt that as the story went along Hailee and Shawn learned more about each other and the best ways to deal with each other, though there was one point when Shawn left her and had this to say:
I have to keep my distance and let her find her way back to me. I know she will because we have that rare form of love that you don’t find every day.
Despite some hiccups along the way and dealing with their pasts, I think Shawn and Hailee have an amazing relationship and that everyone should take a chance on this new author and give this book a chance!

Hailee escaped a abusive relationship. Heading to a new place to start over, she was still looking over her shoulder. When Lance saw her walking down the road, something about her just pulled him in. She wouldn't give him the time of day. Hailee found herself attracted to Lance, a K-9 officer, after what happened with the last man she was with, she was trying her hardest not to think about him. Something that isn't so easy to do considering everywhere she went she was seeing him. But then he found her again, Brandon had been here.

3.25 stars, a good debut book for a new author.
I enjoyed the story line and the character's personalities. Despite a really traumatic past, Hailee seems to be a pretty strong female but does experience moments of weakness that are to be expected for someone who went through what she went through. Shawn having his fair share of pain in his past, was easy to love.
I wish that the beginning of their relationship had been drawn out a bit more. It got very serious very quickly. I am all for instalove, but this was a little more instant that I would prefer. I also wished that they had had one or two really angsty "relationship road blocks" spread out in the story line rather than the multiple road blocks all squished in.
The storyline itself was great and it made me want to continue. I think this author has a promising future with subsequent books!

I absolutely adore this story. I love the idea of finding your knight in shining armor but knowing that he isnt perfect and has a past that holds him back. When we are younger we want to think that there is only one perfect person for us. This story makes you think that maybe there isnt one perfect person for you for the rest of your life, maybe there is that one perfect person for the part of life you are living in right now.
The book definitely isnt all sunshine and roses. There were times when I was so mad at the characters, that I didnt want to keep reading. Then there were times that I cried because of the pain they went through. It is a fantastic book and I really recommend everyone reads it.

Beautiful Story
Fantastic first book by Elizabeth Princeton, Scars from within (The Franklin Blues) This book had me from the first page with an emotional ride! all the characters are amazing you wouldnt know this was a first book from this author its written fantastically.
Hailee and Shawn's journey is beautiful you don't no what is going to happen from one chapter to the next. Go and get a copy you will not be disappointed.
I can't wait to see what the future brings for this new Author she is one to look out for. I can't wait to see what happens in book 2 of the series.

I'm sorry. I really am. The plot is good, it really is. Had the potential to be a great book. Except there is no character development at all. No relationship development. One minute she is getting beaten, the next she's in the hospital, the next she's walking down a road a year later. She jumps into a relationship with the first man she sees. No. What happened in between there? If you have horrible enough flashbacks that you black out.....you are not going to let some random dude take you home. I can't even finish the book. Glad I have kindle unlimited, if I had paid good money for it I'd be not happy.

Hailee is running from an abusive husband who almost killed her and she has moved to a town with the help of friends and meets Shawn a police office. Shawn has closed himself off since his wife passed away a year earlier but once he meets Hailee she is all he can think about. Once Shawn finds out about Hailee's past all he wants to do is to protect her, as he is keeping her safe he falls in love with Hailee, but Hailee has a lot of hang up and thinks Shawn deserves some one better. Shawn in patient and finally convinces Hailee she is all he wants.

New Book New Author
I have to say I was a little worried about reading this bc I didn't know what to expect from a new author but I have to say she did an amazing job. I was captivated by the first chapter. The emotions of the characters was heart wrenching at times. Definitely will be looking forward to the next book in this series.. Your rocked it!!

AMAZING!!!
This was an beautiful story that had me hooked from the beginning. You never would have known that the author is a first timer simply because of the way you are pulled in and rooting for the characters. I could not put it down and now I have to wait impatiently for the next one. I for one will be stalking this author's pages for updates on new books. Great job!!!!

This a book of hope and finding love after abusive relationship. HEA is what anyone who has gone through hell and back. Even losing someone is a special hell. Elizabeth has shined a light on a very dark subject but showed through it all, you can find love. It's an amazing story with equally amazing characters. I Loved IT!
