Saudade, is the story of a young woman who is struggling to cope with her fathers cancer. She wishes to lean on her boyfriend, however because of his busy career he's not around as often as she'd like. In order to take her mind off of her father, she attends a local café where she begins to do poetry. Not only does she find out that she's good in poetry, she meets a man who just she feels comfortable with and always seems there at the right time.
Through the book Chelsea is confronted with challenges in love, faith, and learning to let go at the same time. The story provides a unique view of the African- American experience that is rarely, if ever told.
