I really wanted to like this book. I love the cover, and the premise was unique (going to Alaska, a place I have always been curious about, to "find oneself").I liked the first book in the series, Faking It, I also read the second book, Finding It, and liked it a little bit less, and this third book, well, I almost did not finish it. The main character, Fanny, is the most interesting character of the story, I guess maybe because I am a bit like her in some ways. The plot is VERY slow and almost non existent (at the 60% mark in the book, the only thing Fanny had done was fly to Alaska, meet Laney and go to a clothing store and candy store). I kept waiting for something to happen...Speaking of Laney, wow, possibly the most annoying character I have had to endure...her constant use of "totes" really got to me, she sounded like a 13 year old. "Totes" is a word that just needs to go away, especially when a 20-something year old is constantly using it. The author kept using pop culture references, which I was hoping she would get away from after using those so much in the first and second books. I just hope that, if there is a fourth book, Laney is not the main character or even in it at all because I already know I will not buy the book if that is the case. Thank goodness for Calder, who was a great character, but not enough to save the story. This is definitely the worst book in the series, which is usually the case and I am afraid I could not recommend it to anyone. Even though the author definitely has a great sense of humor and write very well, it just did not work.
