I appreciated the crash course in gem appraisal as well as the summaries of common gemstones' durability and care.

The tables in the back are helpful as well. I would have loved a little more in depth information on certain types of stones mentioned, like star sapphires but this is a pocket guide after all.

I enjoyed the format of this.reference book and would be interested in checking out the full gemstone volume as well.
