Ugh.

Made it part way through "Chance". Plot holes an army could walk through. Characters I would have happily murdered. I don't know the author but enjoyed a couple of the earliest books in the series, but won't try more; this one was such a stinking mess.

These two have got to be one of my favourite Linda Howard books. Over the years I can keep rereading them and I would still feel as though it's the first time.

SPOILERS

A Game of Chance
Gosh the scene when Sunny realised Chance was not who he said he was and she cleverly put it all together and knew she had been used as a bait...it killed me. But when Chance realised Sunny had been shot but kept quiet, and was now missing, I died again!

A classic wronged heroine, and hero having to grovel. In this case Chance used his clan to help him get Sunny's forgiveness. The cute lil niece was waaay too cutesy for me, but hey if it cheered up Sunny I'm all for it. Poor Sunny deserved a good life with huge family after suffering all her life till this point! Chance also had to attain his inner peace in order to dare to live Sunny. Wolf and Mary at work with their magic!

Loving Evangeline
This one remains vivid in my mind because Evie and Matt's love story ended soooo tragically. The scene where Becky told Robert what had happened, never fails to make me tear up. EVERY TIME.

Knowing Evie's sense of homelessness with her background, it broke my heart when she sold her home. Robert could give her ten mansions but it could never replace the memories of that house. But then again she had to move on from Matt's memory as she was merely existing since his death.

Robert was really a warrior deep down. He had to give up control to let Evie see the real him, before daring to love her. The sexy times were sooooo sensual!

Decisamente solo tempo perso.

Great books.

I loved both stories. The first one is actually the 5th book in the Mackenzie’s series. Really felt for Chance, his life didn’t really get good until Mary and Wolf took him in. But he’s looking for a terrorist and has plans to use Sunny as bait. I cried for them. This series is one of my all time favorites, I’ve re read it so many times. The second book in this anthology is from a different series, and each time I’ve read it , I always cry. Robert really hurts Evie and has no idea how to make everything better. I always laugh at how he finally makes up, how possessive he is. Really loved the ending. I highly recommend this book.

Jeopardy: An anthology

Two earlier works of Linda Howard in this one book. Both stories are really good. Love all her books. It was nice to see these two in one book.

A Game of Chance was bad enough. Smutty dribble, but in a Pandemic lockdown; smutty dribble can be a good escape.
However, Loving Evangeline was pure CRAP. Robert is disgusting, not a single good thing about him. I read gory psycho murder mysteries and had more empathy for the psycho nut case deranged killer. And the way it ended, Evangeline is the stupidest woman ever written!

Three weeks of my life I'll never get back.

Good bye Linda Howard. Never again!

Lettura veloce e scorrevole, nel complesso piacevole anche se in alcuni punti rallenta un po' troppo.
