Her name was Nora Jennings. A photographer for a small community newspaper who was fulfilling her dreams of traveling the world. But then she made her first mistake. She chose Kashmir, and he was there. Mistake 2- she took a boat ride on Dal Lake, and yes, he was there. She then made the ultimate error that would have her bound, gagged and smuggled into Afghanistan. She took a photograph of him.
Clarissa Cartharn is the author of romance novels such as Captive,Perfect Vengeance and the action/romance Jar series.
Traveling, learning new languages and cultures are some of her interests which have inspired her books. She turned her love for writing into a full-pledged passion with her first romance, Winter's End and has since never looked back. After almost ten romance novels, each with eclectic themes ranging from angsty Cinderella inspirations to thrillers set in the barren war torn lands of Afghanistan, Clarissa is currently on a new adventure to find her next love story.
Her Writing Style: 1. A premise 2. Romance 3. Realism 4. Heat. Yep, yep and yep 5. Vulgarity- where needed be. Oh come on, if she's gonna be writing about warlords, arms dealers, drug traffickers and rough-necked soldiers, then please don't expect them to be minding their tenses and grammar. 6. Oh yes, and a plot! Especially, a plot! A darned good one!

Nora quits her job as a photographer to travel. She visits Kashmir with hopes of spending a delightful vacation. But her plans run amuck and she finds herself in a nightmare—captive and ready to get married to an Afghan warlord.
This is a nice piece of romance. People who read my reviews know that I’m not a romance fan but I do read a few romances once in a while. Having said that, I’m going to confirm that this book isn’t meant for readers who prefer not to pick up a romance. But it’s definitely worth a try if you’re always on the look-out for the next best romantic read. It is a standout in the genre because it has some interesting and suspenseful moments. It is set in Afghanistan and the description of the volatile atmosphere of the region is absolutely brilliant! The story is pretty appealing and the characters are likeable. Once you get started, you’re certainly going to want to know what happens in the following chapters. It isn’t boring in any remote way and it’s quite fast paced when compared to other titles in this genre. You’ll find it odd that in spite of all the other themes it deals with I’m calling it as essentially a romance. My explanation would be, the wider themes it encompasses fade in the background when the romantic elements take on the stage. I must appreciate the author for aptly highlighting the story of Nora and Adam while also observing the different aspects of the setting and the underlying tension. I wasn’t all that impressed with the style of narration but it’s my opinion entirely; I’m not saying everyone will feel the same about it. In a nutshell, go grab it if you’re in the mood for a romantic read with suspense as a bonus! The Captive Series will be a hit with romance lovers, that’s a surefire thing!
I am so thrilled I now know the whole story!! Almost a year ago I read Captive #1 and I really enjoyed it (I had rated it 4-stars). I am so pleased to know what happened and everything that had become of Nora and Adam. I had thought he was a better man than that evil one, Mateen, and I was more correct than I could have imagined. I liked reading of the setting and it sounded beautiful. I felt for the situations I read about regarding the women, children, and families of that area. I liked what kind of man and leader Adam was. I felt Nora's feelings as they changed toward Adam. I'm hoping for more in the future with Ian as well as look-ins on other characters.
Personally, I have to say I'm very lucky to have had the privilege of reading and reviewing this book. Honestly, it's one of the best books I've read and kept me turning page after page. I loved it. It was enlightening and invigorating. I can honestly say that I would recommend this book to any romance lover. If you're looking for a fresh new book to satisfy that niggling of romance all of us romance book lovers have, then this is for you. Clarissa Cartharn brought a new taste to the romance book world when she wrote this one. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
This is the complete series each section is short and all together there is four sections with number four being the longest at 120 pages.Nora Jennings is bored with her life in a small town so she quits her job as a photographer and buys a ticket to Kashmir but with one picture she sets herself on a course to be kidnapped. Nora finds herself bound and gagged in Afghanistan, ready to be wedded to Pashtun warlord, Adam Afridi. You will not want to put this book down as you want to know what is going to happen next! I was gifted a copy for an honest review barwatts@telus.net
Loved this whole series of stories A gripping, dynamic four-part story of romance, adventure, and suspense. Well written and excellently described, you can’t go wrong with this romantic thriller. Highly recommend to those who enjoy some color and an exotic if dangerous setting in the books they read.
I normally don't read romance books very often but this one was amazing! I was captivated with every page and didn't want it to end! Great read with complex characters. Also a great plot!
FYI if I wouldn't have had emergency surgery I would've read this in only two days it was that fascinating.
Nora Jennings had desired to travel to India and finally made it to Kashmir, or did she?
She was going to find herself even though she wasn't looking, but someone else was looking and found her first.
She was so naïve she was kidnapped right from my cab, it looks as though she has been taken by the sex slave traders.
Her captors believe she is a spy also, they believe that she took pictures of them. Nevertheless she is in danger, she feels fearful, but yet she is also angry and upset she must get away.
It is amazing how the author takes us through this novel, you will feel her feelings and of the sexual tension, you will also feel her sadness of loss, excitement, and continuing romances of the characters.
It's nice wto feel the suspense or a shiver run down your spine and your heart beat faster as well as your senses heightened while reading this book.
