I eagerly bought this book for a holiday read in great anticipation after reading a sample of Ms.Jyoti Jafa's other book 'Nurjahan' which I found engaging. Also, the blurb at the back of the book was quite funny and reminded me of one of P.G. Wodehouse's style of humour. However, from the first chapter itself I felt a certain disclarity and forced humour in the writing that unfortunately did not appeal to me. Anyway, I got through till the end of the book hoping for some interesting climax but the whole story (if it may be called so) revolved around two Rajput kings playing immature ' tit for tat' pranks on each other, some experiences infact being life risking too. Perhaps the only thing that seemed new to me was the how the British were serving in high official positions for these Rajput kings and their role in helping in the administration of their kingdoms. The author seems to have tried very hard to make the readers laugh by mostly attempting 'funny/silly' situations and dialogues and having characters in the book itself to laugh at them.Reminded me of how we have comedy shows on TV in which there is a pre recorded audience applause and laughter at regular intervals. Not my cup of tea.
