We are in the middle of a cultural revolution in the health care industry. Nearly eight thousand people practice Traditional Chinese Medicine in the US and thirty-five states currently offer some form of legal status for its practice. Many people are seeking alternatives to the Western, medical approach to health care. To these seekers, Voices of Qi is an invaluable aid in exploring what Traditional Chinese Medicine has to offer. Alex Holland has done an admirable job of presenting the basic tenets and practices to this ancient tradition in a clear, concise and accessible manner.
I had the opportunity to study with Master Holland for a MAOM. He's a wonderful instructor, and has a gift for simplifying seemingly abstract concepts for the layperson and beginner. Highly recommended to share with someone curious about the basics of TCM!
A great book that helps you develop a basic understanding of traditional Chinese medicine including acupuncture, cupping, etc. They explain the purpose of each approaches and how it's done: addressing the imbalance within the body including the "Qi". I've heard of various practices but never fully understood the science behind it. This was a great start! I just wish it had more explanation in the layman's terms since it felt a bit metaphysical.
If you are looking for basic fundamental knowledge in TCM, with very little previous knowledge and exposure, this is the right book to go. It is not very extensive. Qi is a very vast topic in TCM. From the title, I hoped to have more knowledge on this. I suppose I presumed wrongly.
