I have changed my Author Name from PJ Webb to the Pen Name, Tierney Night. Any other books I publish on Amazon will be as Tierney Night. Also, this book, Lora Lee , on any other platform will display the Pen Name, Tierney Night.
A recurring nightmare, a family tragedy, and a stately old manor house conspire to play a part in Lora Lee's ominous destiny. When she moves into Cliff House, a spirit trapped within a ghostly world of loneliness and despair desperately reaches out to take back that which was once hers.
Unique, Mesmerizing Ghost Story! After losing her entire family in a tragic fire, set by a vengeful friend who was dating her brother, Lora Lee spends the rest of her teenage years in an orphanage, thinking she has no family to turn to. Shortly before she’s due to set out on her own, Lora is informed she has a grandmother who lives on the east coast, who wants Lora to move in with her. Lora is thrilled to live with her grandmother, who’s obviously pleased to have found her. Her life finally seems to be moving in the right direction, when Lora meets an attractive neighbor, Christian, whom she begins to fall in love with. Lora decides to research the history of Cliff House and its inhabitants, when she begins discovering that Cliff House has some very puzzling secrets. Unexplained happenings take place inside the house and Lora is becoming more and more confused; to the point where she doesn’t understand whether the events that she’s been seeing are real or illusions. She hears voices, and eventually she realizes that Cliff House is haunted! But what do these ghosts want from her—why are they suddenly taking control? And how is Cliff House bound into the evil events resulting in her family’s past tragedies? Anyone who’s interested in a great ghost story, as well as an original plot, will love this first book in the Cliff House Series. The characters that PJ Webb has invented are well written and believable, while the subplots are well developed and interesting too. The ending of this story will just make you want to MORE! I highly recommend this series.
Lora Lee by P.J. Webb is the first book in the Cliff House Series and one of the best ghost stories I have read for some time. Add into that the budding romance and you have an amazing tale.
Cliff House had been the source of many whispers. Fables have been passed through generations, tales of hauntings and tragedy. Lora Lee had never heard such tales, and why would she have? She had been raised on her parents' tobacco farm. It had always just been the four of them, Lora along with her mum, dad, and brother. Until one day fate decided it had other plans. She found herself in Cliff House, unaware of its lore, unaware of the danger. Yet the memories of a nightmare she had as a child returned to haunt her. Something within the house is reaching out to her, demanding to be heard. But to heed this call has consequences. Lora is the only one who can return what once belonged to those remaining after death, and it seems they will stop at nothing to obtain that which they desire.
Lora Lee is one of those books that you simply won't want to put down and when you reach the end, you'll want book two. P.J. Webb presents a cast of deep and interesting characters emerged in a tale woven of lore, tragedy and despair, while investing the reader not only in the budding romance forming between Lora and Christian, but also in the history of Cliff House. This is one book I would give higher than five stars if possible. The author's descriptive voice makes it easy to lose yourself in the world and tale created. P.J. Webb gets you hooked, intrigued, and leaves you wanting more.
This is a great paranormal adventure that is also the story of a haunted house. Beginning when Lora Lee loses her mother, father and brother in a house fire, that was not an accident, Lora Lee finds herself in an orphanage and then in strange circumstances living in Cliff house with a grandmother she didn't know existed. Lora Lee thinks her luck has changed, but that is before the strange hauntings of Cliff House and its past change her life. The author did a great job with this story and the feel of the book.
If you're looking for a ghost story with horrifying scenes, entwined with romance then this is the book for you. Lora Lee will take you through her terrifying nightmares with such graphic description you'll feel the hairs rise at the back of your neck and the shadows in your room seems sinister. Unbeknown to Lora Lee her life is somehow tangled up in the mysterious haunting of Cliff House and the ghosts that haunt this house stalk her every movement, intent on keeping her apart from the man she is going to marry. Pletcha PJ Webb's descriptive writing plays out like a movie scene which you can clearly see, making the story all that more real and scarey and left me feeling uneasy, glancing at the shadows in my room. If you love ghost stories I highly recommend you read Lora Lee.
I am not interested in ghosts per se, but this novel caught my eye and am glad I opened the book. Not believing in ghosts, the hairs on my arms spiked when reading this story about spirits haunting a house.
PJ WEBB's tale keeps the reading engaged weirdly. I kept turning the page, waiting for the next encounter between LORA LEE and the house's mysterious ghostly inhabitants with two romance story backdrops.
The author has you believing the world of spirits are left on earth until a mission is complete or some event releases them to the other side - where ever that is? A believer of ghosts will be thrilled; a non-believer will laugh out loud. I laughed out loud.
The prose kept me wanting more of her ghostly adventures. I may just come back for more.
This novel is a good read for this Halloween season. Also, PJ WEBB's writing is enjoyable to the end hooking you into book two. If you are into ghosts, you will buy it with a click at the end of LORA LEE.
Great Read One of those books that keep you reading. I won't give away too much; the beginning is sad, a girl left alone after her family dies in mysterious circumstances, finds she has a rich grandmother who takes her in. The family house is large, old and has a history and that history still seethes within its walls determined revenge will be taken, but for what?
This is a very well-written ghost story. I love the author's writing style is easy to read and the flow of the story made for an enjoyable read! Well done, author Webb!
Time inconsistencies. This was supposed to take place in the 1920's? But they were having mini marshmallows and cocoa? The author had the opportunity to ground the reader in the time period when she mentioned buying an evening gown. But moved on to the next scene before she could even describe the dress.
The lack of editing, the multiple typos per page, made it extremely distracting to read.
The description pulled me in enough to buy the book. I wish the execution had been on the same par.
I found this story very strange, so I'm giving it only two stars which is 'okay' on the Goodreads rating. In parts it was quite gruesome although I did like the tenacity and bravery of Lora Lee. I would have given more stars, but the narrative is full of spelling mistakes and typos. E.g. He drove done the road. I found this annoying at times. I would have liked to have seen more editing, because without the constant errors, I might have been tempted to buy the next book in the series.
Lora Lee is a ghost story that captivated me from the first page. It begins with quaint nineteen-twenties charm and gives the impression that the olde-worlde genre will dictate that this book is going to be twee; however, after a couple of pages, that idea is turned upside down, and the reader gets a sense of what’s in store, when Lora Lee’s family are burned to death by her best friend, who subsequently kills herself.
For Lora Lee, though, the trouble is just beginning, and when she goes to live with a grandmother she never knew she had, she experiences supernatural vibes. At the same time, she wishes to pursue a career as a writer, and chooses to write about the previous owner, and meets a neighbour—the man of her dreams.
For Lora Lee, though, the supernatural happenings increase in magnitude and she discovers that the past of her home is steeped in tragedy, and it becomes apparent that the previous occupants are still present in spirit. Matters then escalate, and Lora Lee is in extreme danger.
This book is highly addictive, and has more than just the occasional surprise, and for the reader, the good news is that this is the first book in the series of three, and I for one will be reading those that follow. Brilliant and highly addictive.
