Rate this book
Red Flags takes the reader to the beach of Wesley Brooks' youth and a summer filled with rip currents and dangerous friendships. When he moves to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for the summer of 1993, Wesley expects to find warm water, a simple job, and maybe a special girl to share nights on the beach with. Frustrated with menial tasks at work and faced with an emergency he may have caused, Wesley is forced to answer for his actions when the ambulances show up. Almost nineteen, he never expected to have someone’s life in his hands. He thinks about packing up and moving home. Then he meets a girl. His confidence needs a boost and he finds it among a group of guys who aren’t lacking any bravado. Wesley is captivated by the outrageous behavior of his new ocean lifeguard friends and assimilates quickly in an effort to be accepted. Red Flags explores what it truly means to save a life. Forget the training manual; the things that happen out of the water are unpredictable and far more dangerous than any rip current. Wesley will learn the true cost before the season is over.

Nice read

Nice read. Loved the characters, especially Wesley. Took me back to that age living at the beach. Friendships, rivals, romances, adventures, and fights.

A lifeguard story

Red Flags is about a high school graduate who goes to the Outer Banks during summer break before college starts. He gets a job as a lifeguard even though he's not a good swimmer and has no experience. I would recommend this book.
