Cold River Running is the third book in the critically acclaimed Cold River series. This book begins a storyline that continues for two more books, with characters introduced in Cold River Rising and Cold River Resurrection. When the electricity goes off nationwide due to an unknown cause, the people fight for survival to find food, protection and fight an invading gang from the city. Cold River Running, a tribe and a people coming together. Cold River Rising has been called, "A modern day Danced With Wolves," a story about Native American college students kidnapped in Peru, and the perilous rescue attempt by tribes in the United States.
I've been waiting impatiently for this book to come out, finished it in one sitting and am bitterly disappointed. Each of the first two books were excellent, ones that I've kept to re-read. Good characterization and interesting characters, interesting plotlines, good action sequences. Each book had it's own main character, but the initial core group of characters remained. with a complete story to each book, beginning, middle, end.
The writing and storyline in this third book remains excellent, as does the characterization. Unfortunately the author has apparently decided to serialize this series with no warning and there is no ending of even a minor plotline, with a major overall story continuing on to a new book, an abrupt, middle of a battle cliffhanger ending. My personal opinion is that any serialized book should carry a notation to that effect, not be unleashed on an unsuspecting reader.
This is Book 3 of this series, however, while it is all a series, Books 3-5 are an exciting and unique continuing story of an attack on the "Rez", when they and millions of others are in the dark. See review of Book 5 for a more comprehensive review.
Great book. Enes Smith character development is fantastic and creative. Fantastic storytelling. I have read every book in the series and awaiting his 6th addition to this series.
For some reason I've come to really look forward to these stories. I feel as though I've become invested in the characters, which is a compliment to the author. I have only 2 complaints.......one...... the editing still really needs a closer eye...... and two.... for the next one to come out sooner rather than later :-)
the first two in this series were better. too.many enemies too fight in this one. too many fronts. emp takes out the nation's electrical grid. chaos, anarchy ensue. one reservations fight for survival.
The story of Cold River continues in this intense tale of survival. All of your favorite characters are back for a riveting story that you can't put down! I can't wait for the next segment in the Cold River saga.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
