4.5 stars. I occasionally find reviews I wrote ages ago that didn't make their way onto Goodreads. Here is another one for book three of the excellent Adam Stanley series.

I really enjoyed this. The plot was different enough to be very interesting. A series of quick fire murders has DI Stanley and DC Frances baffled as each victim seems to be the killer of the previous victim. Strangely the victims don't put up a struggle and they all hand over $50,000 to their killer. Stanley is injured and Frances thinks she has cracked it - but has she? There is one inconsistency in the story which I would love to point out to the author. When Frances thinks she's cracked it, it's on the basis of someone spotted on CCTV collecting the money after each killing. But this isn't it, I don't want to say any more. One little inconsistency aside, it was a cracking read and it's a very good series.

I think I'm in love with Adam Stanley, he's such a fabulous character. I've read the two previous books in this series- my advice would be to read the first two books before this one if only for the backstory as to what is going on with Adam and Amanda's relationship.

The main plot to Mind Bender is a real humdinger - why are people delivering a vast amount of money to someone and ending up dead? Awesome plot and one that had me intrigued from the beginning until the end. On to book four in the series now, Prima Facie, well done again Netta Newbound who is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.

This was yet another brilliant book by Netta Newbound. Once again Detective Stanley and his team are looking for murderers but this one is a bit different as they find that the person who kills is next in line to be killed and they can't work out why. Each and every victim seem to be ordinary people with no convictions, not even a traffic ticket so why are they all being found shot with three bullet wounds? Although each book has a different story they are better read in order as there is reference to things that went on with the detective and his life from book one. I have no hesitation in recommending this series of books

I love psychological thrillers and this is one of the very best. I didn't think anything could beat the first & second books, but in this the third one in the series, the author has excelled herself.
I just love the Adam Stanley series and hope that we see many more.

Doesn't meet the mark

The plot has an interesting premise but drags on, with repetitive events and predictable outcomes. The story jumps from one character to another, which is fine, but it shouldn't be a guessing game about who I'm reading about. Is it the detective, the murderer, the victim, a witness? It was easy enough to discern when it was the detectives, but otherwise it seemed choppy, lacking continuity. Also subplots were introduced and then neglected. I lost patience and gave it up halfway through. Netta Newbound has a lot of potential but needs to refine her writing style and enlist some good editors. It seems like she rushed to finish her story and submitted her first draft.

Coming in with packages, and telling about the mishap with neighbor, and dinner not ready. They could at least go out and eat. Which turned out to be the surprised birthday party. Who is Oliver who gets a call, grabs a
briefcase, gone a few minutes, then telling his wife he only went for a spin.
DI Adam and Holly called to a murder site, which puzzles them, a robbery, the wallet was full of cash. Was it the killer of the last victim. It baffles them, and where are the clues.can be read separate, it good series.
Easy to follow along, and readers will enjoy the characters of Adam and Holly

Wow! Didn't expect that!!

Brilliant storyline! Some parts actually had me laughing out loud, but on the whole this truly was a 'mind bender' keeping me gripped and guessing page after page.
I love the thread that is weaved throughout from book one and can't wait to read more about this and of course, another thriller mystery to solve in book 4! Just brilliant!!

I love a unique storyline and this thriller had a really strange one. No wonder it had poor Adam Stanley and his crew in such a tizzy. A wonderful continuation of the series, full of thrills and mystery. And also some continuation of Stanley's personal life, which is always a good read.

I found this book rather juvenile.

The main character s seemed two dimensional and so I struggled to stay it with it.I was disappointed. I may however try another of her books later.

I recently discovered this author and like her writing style. The interaction between the characters and the plot is excellent. Looking forward to more books in the series.

Suspenseful

Kept my attention... some interesting twists toward the end. On the negative side, there seemed to bed some unnecessary straying from the main storyline at times.

Although the beginning of this book was not as interesting as the first two Adam Stanley series, it turned out to be an amazing read. I am so looking forward to reading the 4th book.

Mind Bender is the third book in the Adam Stanley series, I would strongly recommend reading the first two books in the series before reading this one.

Even though Adam and Frances have their work cut out trying to solve what appears to be random shootings, things in Adam's personal life finally comes to a head.

Adam and Amanda are obviously mad about each other and the only thing stopping them from fully getting together is Amanda's horrific past. Amanda can't bear to tell Adam the full truth about her past as she knows due to Adam's job he would have to report it. When little Mary is taken by Amanda's brother Andrew, my heart was literally in my mouth. Finding her is literally a race against time and I couldn't get through the pages quick enough to see what the outcome was.

The actual shootings that Adam and Frances are investigating had me totally baffled. I had no idea why these random people that seem to be just ordinary folk would drop everything and go and shoot what appears to be a total stranger to them. It is all very strange and even though things seem to become clearer, the author throws in another twist that I didn't see coming.

Mind Bender felt very much like either the ending for the Adam Stanley series or for the books to maybe centre solely on Adams detective work due to the relationship between Adam and Amanda finally coming to a head. Either way I have very much enjoyed the three book in the series and having now read all of this authors novels will be waiting patiently for any new releases.

Many thanks to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
