Lots of Levy Bruhl true ideas about the primitive mind. "Symbolic expression is considered richer than ordinary language since it proceeds by association and evocation rather than by description and analysis."(10) Is the main idea. Favorite pieces in the book are The Migratory Bird 1941, Queen Louise of Prussia 1929, and The Ladder for Escape 1940. "Miro adhered to "image-concepts" in his visual sign language. He individualized essential factors and omitted or generalized all else. He also enlarged eyes and ears, the facilitators of perception."(16) Lots of good ideas on cave art, and on omens.
