SHORT ROUND AND OTHER STORIES FROM VIETNAM is the personal account of a young American lieutenant who served with the Fifth Special Forces Group (Green Berets) early in the Vietnam War. The book provides a unique look at very storied military force while mixing descriptions of day to day activities with strange and bizarre experiences. As readers follow the author through his 1966 tour of duty, we find that humorous situations can develop in the midst of potentially lethal circumstances.
Excellent memoir. In the tradition of See Here Private Hargrove, a touch of The Caine Mutiny, and along the lines of My Detachment by Tracy Kidder, another young officer serving in Vietnam at about the same time as Lt Matthews.
