What Can We Do?(Hu Shis View on China) is a book that we can read with Old System and Great Revolution. In this best-selling Old System and Great Revolution, it puts forward that revolution does not always happen in a nations poverty period and it can outbreak in the better economic position that serious polarization may formed in this period. Although different problems faced in these two periods, result casued by problems may be the same. Hu Shis exploration aims at old China under the rule of Kuomintang, and he abhors all kinds of innate maladies in old China. His solution solving Chinas problems is based on of Western-style democratic system, while history chose the revolution. Now, under the new historical condition, we face the same risk and hear similar claim. What can we do? Maybe, Hu Shis thought on that times still has a reference value.

胡适之对中国问题的思考是很现代的。虽然距很多观点提出已近百年，中国很多东西变了，但很多方面却还步履维艰，有些方面更是走三步退两步，不得不感慨中华文化之悲。早年由于政治原因，鲜有了解胡适之的思想与主张，只听说“全盘西化” “资产阶级的走狗”之类的误解或者污名，对“充分世界化”却很少提及，如今大有“相见恨晚”之感。
