It is hard to express how much I enjoyed this small book on Abraham's life.

It is a Bible study, more than a book, composed of eight chapters covering the major points of Abraham's story. Each chapter is made up of five sections: context, the story itself, connection to the rest of the Bible, connection to ancient material outside of the Bible, and application. And a couple application questions come at the end of each section.

There is a blend here of simplicity and academic depth. I think almost any Christian could read and resonate with this book, even though it touches at times on Targums and Talmud.

Personally, I was pressed to compare my own faith with that of Abraham.
