Perfect families don't always start with perfect ingredients. Professional nanny Claire Iverson has wiped enough noses, butts and spills to qualify for a PhD in raising kids. She knows a toddler with a potty crisis when she sees one, and it's clear this child's impossibly handsome father doesn't, since he's sound asleep on the flight to Jackson, Wyoming. Getting burned by her ex-boyfriend left her gun-shy around men, but when it comes to this beautiful little girl, she has to speak up. Just her luck, it turns out the man she just dressed down is her new boss. Between his roles as full-time CEO and full-time father, Drake Driscoll is exhausted. If he can seal the next deal at his upcoming holiday house party, he'll have room to breathe. He never expected for his daughter's new nanny to take his breath away. Claire hesitates to accept the warmth that beckons in Drake's arms. But soon their attraction ignites, pulling them in deeper than either of them expected. Into passion that could weld them forever-or burn them to cinders. Warning: Hot chocolate, cozy fires, snowball fights and sizzling ski hut sex = one very merry holiday!

Meg Adams is a true blue “Valley Girl”—the Shenandoah Valley, that is. When she’s not herding kids, she’s herding cats, or gardening, knitting, or reading. You can find her many an afternoon reading on her shaded porch and waving to bicyclists as they crest the hill, or possibly picking tomatoes in the garden or peaches in the orchard. But in the morning, she’ll be writing. She lives with her husband, two sons and three cats in a hundred-year-old farmhouse, her other (continual) work in progress.

She also loves to hear from readers.

Claire is on her way to starting over. After being burned by an ex-boyfriends she is ready to get out of her life-funk. She's been hired to watch the children of a few attendees at a two-week business meeting/party/function. On the way, she sees an adorable little girl in the middle of a potty emergency and reems into the little girls father, Drake, about his lack of attention on his daughter and overall lack of parenting.

Little does she know, that adorable little girl is one of the children she is the nanny for...

Over the next two weeks, Drake and Claire's attraction towards each other ignite in the Wyoming snow. But life has a way of intruding in their cozy little cabin life and will they trust in their feelings or will they let past experiences break them apart.

Okay, so I had some problems with this book...

I thought that the drama Drake had with Sharon/Miles was a little much throughout the book.

Next, Claire is almost raped by Miles AND right after (maybe in the same room with a knocked out Miles, not quite sure from the book) has sex with Drake... Idk about you, but I KNOW I'd be a wreck/scared/crying/pissed off hot mess. My first thought would definitely NOT be "Ok, I'm good to have sex now!! TYSM". No.

No. No. Noooooo.

There were parts of the book I liked with Claire, Drake, and the girls. But I found it completely unbelievable that Sharon would request Claire to take Yvette when she was dying... Granted Sharon was a TERRIBLE mother, but come on... she's "known" Claire all of two weeks and her last wish is that Claire and Drake get married and raise her daughter... =/

4.5 stars

The story starts out in a busy airport where Claire Iverson meets and begins playing with the cutest little girl who happens to be traveling with her inattentive dad. A dad who is, of course, sexy as hell. Drake Driscoll is on his way to a two week working vacation in Jackson, Wyoming over the Christmas holiday with his three year old daughter. He doesn't get to spend much quality time with her and is hoping to have the best of both worlds in taking on being a full-time dad and being a businessman. His potential client has promised a full time nanny to care for the children while Drake stays in the guesthouse. Little does he know that the sexy and sweet, yet tough as nails, young woman who has helped him in the airport with his daughter is going to also be staying with him in the guesthouse for the next two weeks.

Unfortunately, his former best friend's ex-wife, Sharon, and their young daughter are also staying in the guesthouse and man oh man is SHE a piece of work! Sparks are flying left and right and not always the good kind. Everyone in the house is carrying around some serious emotional baggage. So even though the attraction between Claire and Drake is mutual, Claire is scared to death of getting hurt again and tries to thwart Drake's advances.

Drake is swoon-worthy in that "imperfect but great dad" sort of way. As the CEO of a successful security business, he is effective at getting what he wants. He has Claire in his sights and he's not taking "No" for an answer. Drake's seduction game is on point because he is more than ready to break the dry spell he had been in since his divorce. Claire doesn't stand a chance of not ending up in his bed.

Their coupling was yummy, steamy and cozy. I thoroughly enjoyed them falling for each other. The sex scenes were like the blasts of heat you get when you open the oven while baking. They weren't elaborate and drawn out, but went on just long enough to make you feel it, then the story would proceed.

There was a fair amount of drama, angst and insecurity, but like the sex, it wasn't drawn out and resolved itself in good time. The story moved along at a brisk pace but felt believable. Drake and Claire's wounds were compatible enough that they worked for them instead of against them and that really eased the tension for me.

I love romance novels because no matter what happens I can count on the "happily ever after." This novel was classic romance at its finest. Sweet, nostalgic and sexy, it's perfect to curl up with on a cold winter day. Or in my case, a four hour flight. I loved it!

I know the author so I wanted to give it a go! I would define this book as a ~spicy~ Hallmark type love story. It makes you feel good but also is a little more adventurous than your basic Hallmark Christmas movie. I should have read it closer to Christmas so definitely more of a December read to get you into the spirit! I loved how the ending coincided with the beginning, it was so cute! Overall a 3.5/5! Claire, Drake, Suzie, and Yvette are all cute characters! A fun short read for sure!

4.5 Stars!

In From the Cold by Meg Adams is an engaging holiday read that kept me interested the whole way through. Each chapter is told from one of the two main characters point of view, and as a result, the reader gets to know each one intimately. This is a touching story with twists and turns in all the right places.

Claire Iverson is a teacher and a nanny. She was going through a really rough time not too long ago, and now she is finally pulling her life back together. She takes a week-long job caring for some wealthy children, while their parents are schmoozing and conducting business. On the flight to Jackson, Wyoming, she inadvertently meets one of her soon to be charges, which ends up being somewhat of an amusing disaster. Nevertheless, she is a professional and Claire, Drake Driscoll, and his adorable, three-year-old daughter Suzie, all get to their destination without any further incident.

Drake has his hands full. He is the CEO of his own successful company and a full-time father. He is in Wyoming to broker the biggest deal of his life and now he not only has a slightly cranky nanny on his hands, he has taken on the added responsibility of being a temporary father to Yvette, the shy, three-year-old daughter of his ex-best friend. Luckily, Suzie and Yvette get along really well and Claire does a wonderful job of caring for them.

Claire and Drake have amazing chemistry, which allows them to help each other work through their respective demons. They are a super hot couple both in and out of the bedroom. Within a week, the four of them are a family and Claire and Drake are in love. Since it is Christmas time, in between Drake's professional obligations, they all spend some time getting into the holiday spirit. Suzie is a real cutie pie and some of her moments are funny as well as profound.

I really liked this story. Ms. Adams's created an unconventional family with love, support and honesty. The ending tied up all the loose ends and I felt satisfied knowing that Claire, Drake, Suzie and Yvette would have a wonderful future together.

This book packs quite a bit of punch in one story. I'm generally not a fan of insta-love and the author allows the characters to get to know each other before falling into bed -- and love.

We get to know Claire and Drake, their pasts and insecurities, while watching their romance grow along with their feelings for each other.

Toss in two precious girls and this book is a great Christmas read.

This is a cute and romantic read, which has a sad edge of bitterness on the side. But fear not, the ending is delightful! There is a lovely mix of humour, lessons learned from previous experiences and two little girls who make the best of friends with each other.

I am not sure that I really bought into the holiday meeting plot-lines, but the times they were together were lovely and the outcome was perfect, if a little precipitous. We'll put that down to some Christmas magic!

This is a short, sweet Christmas read that packs a couple of unexpected surprises. In a good way. I thought I knew what to expect from this tale, with Claire being the hard-working, but under appreciated nanny and Drake being the rich, overbearing, workaholic man who suddenly notices how beautiful and helpful and wonderful the nanny is and falls in love.

Which is sort of what I got, but not quite. For one thing Claire is only sort of a nanny. As a woman who feels things very deeply, a bad breakup left her an emotional mess that has taken her several years to recover from. During that time she worked for her sister as a nanny, so this Christmas assignment to watch a couple of kids at a private holiday house party is her first professional gig and her first step to reclaiming her life. What she gets is Drake and his adorable, bubbly daughter, Suzie, but also the quiet, sweet Yvette and her neglectful, bitter and emotionally unstable mother.

This book is told in first person by both Claire and Drake, and I really enjoyed reading both their thoughts on the whole situation. Claire is a caring woman made wary by her past, while Drake is unexpectedly devoted to Suzie and likewise shy of relationships thanks to his failed marriage. The pair of them are cute together as Drake gives Claire the attention and admiration she needs, while she listens to Drake and gives him a pleasant feeling of normality. He wasn’t nearly as overbearing as I expected and I appreciated that he was willing to go slow when Claire grew nervous. They also have a nice heap of chemistry which always helps things along.

I also loved the little girls. Suzie and Yvette are very different but adorable together, and poor Yvette’s so obviously starved for affection that I couldn’t help wondering throughout just what would happen to her. Especially when Drake hangs out with them all and Yvette latches onto him. I loved seeing the relationships build and develop between both adults and the children and how they formed into quite the little family throughout – which made the specters of Yvette’s selfish parents all the more bitter.

The story itself unwinds at a steady pace, dealing with things at the perfect time and often in unexpected ways. There are good people and nasty people, cute kids, a satisfying romance, a nice touch of heat, some underhand manipulation and a few emotional twists, which all add up to an absorbing tale. If you’re looking for a cute Christmas read that offers up something more than the usual, then this might well be for you. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and will definitely be looking out for more from this author in the future.

My Review: I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the back and forth between the characters (especially when Claire puts Drake in his place). I started off not liking Drake that much but like Claire ended up seeing the good in him and loved him by the end. It was a little predictable as to what would happen in the end but I didn't mind so much as I just wanted that happy ending. It was a fun romance for those cold nights of winter.

Claire sees a little girl in the airport and gets annoyed that the little girl's father isn't paying any attention to her her and is letting her wander around. She confronts him about it and not so subtly attacks his parenting style. After their flight she finds out that she just happens to be his new nanny. They both move past their initial unpleasant meeting and as they start spending more time together they find themselves very attracted to one another.

** This review contains a lot of spoilers ***

I had a bit of a hard time with this one. It just all seemed way too unrealistic to me. The whole Sharon/Miles storyline was WAY too much drama for me. And I thought it was completely insane that after not quite 2 weeks of knowing Claire, Sharon asked her to raise her daughter, Yvette. She was practically a stranger. And then I kind of wanted to scream in frustration when Claire was almost raped by Miles and then immediately has sex with Drake right afterwards.....are you serious?! I just really couldn't get into this one at all. I did enjoy the parts of the story that involved Claire and Drake with the two little girls. There were a lot of sweet moments but the other parts of the story that I mentioned really killed it for me.

I have always enjoyed a good romance, and this book delivered. The story focuses on Claire, a strong-willed nanny who is reluctant to fall in love again after having her heart broken, and Drake, a full-time CEO and single father who doesn't realize how lonely he is until he meets Claire- a woman totally different than the rich, glamorous, yet empty women he's dated in the past. In alternating chapters, we see Claire and Drake's inner thoughts as sparks ignite between them. Despite a cozy, winter backdrop, former lovers, personal struggles and a back-stabbing once best friend threaten to tear the two apart.

Meg Adams has an incredible gift with words as I found myself not wanting to put the book down. In From the Cold is just what the doctor ordered for a cold night as her steamy love scenes will certainly keep you warm. I can't wait to read Meg Adams' next book!

After a not so stellar introduction to the parent of one her soon-to-be charges (she gives him a dressing down), Nanny Claire tumbles into overwhelming lust for said parent - Drake...a workaholic flailing in his attempt to care for his child.

Though the verbal and physical interactions were interesting and, for the most part, engaging (yes, hot and steamy too), I could not get over the over-the-top situations that kind of peppered this story....insta-love was never really my thing...a case of too much too soon (2 weeks?!?)....a weird almost felonious incident (near rape) and a tragic event triggering a highly unlikely resolution (dying mother)...

Great story I really enjoyed. Great characters! This story is about a school teacher taking a job as a nanny trying to get her life back together after a bad incident. During the Christmas break she is the nanny for two 3 year old girls. The one little girls mom and dad are a mess and at first the nanny jumped to bad conclusions about the other little girls dad. Soon there became a romance between the Nanny and the dad. This book includes a playboy, overbearing women, sleazy men and tragic incidents and tragic pasts. This is a book really worth reading.

This is the first book I have ever read by Meg Adams. It was a great first choice.

Claire and Drake have both been through a lot in their lives so finding that instalove connection is a win in my book. Also, the children were absolutely precious. This book had a great storyline and it was well thought out. The twists were enough to keep you on your toes.

Meg Adams out did herself finding the passion and romance between the pages. I look forward to reading her again in the future.
