Snow! Cookies! Candy! Mouse loves snow days. When he's accidentally swept out the door and into the snow, Mouse has a blast ice-skating, sledding, and building snow animals-always just one step ahead of sly Cat. But above Mouse on a wire sit three cold birds who warn Mouse of Cat's approach. Now it is Mouse's turn to do something nice for his new friends.
This was a decent story about a mouse who finds himself swept out of the house and into the snow. To be honest, I found it a little on the mediocre side, but the parts with the cat stalking the mouse were pretty funny, both in the story and in the art. The art had a very distinctive style that reminded me a little of 90's Nickelodeon cartoons, and while I appreciated it's unique quality, I think I would've liked it better for the story if it was centered around people instead of animals. I think kids will probably enjoy this more than I did, so I'd say it's good for ages 4 to 12.
I didn't realize this book was part of a series or that the mouse was living a life hidden from the humans in the house. I've gotten too used to books like "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie."
Mouse is on his 4th book adventure in this darling Snow Day for Mouse book! Judy Cox shares Mouse's adventure as the humans in his house celebrate a snow day off from school. Mouse with his tiny little glasses, and need for adventure, is excited about all of the festivities in the house. Making cookies, mouse goes after a gumdrop that falls to the floor. Cat sees him, and comes out for the attack just as the broom whisks mouse outside into the snow! He ignores the cat and takes some time to ice skate on a mouse sized pond, slide on a leaf sized toboggan, and even make a snow mouse. All the while, looking for that pesky gumdrop he lost.
Mouse made a few bird friends out on his adventure, and his heart feels for them out in the cold, once he is back in the warm house. Even mice can make sacrifices for friends!
Super cute book with a theme of caring for others! Great book to pull out on your first snow day of the year
A little mouse wakes up from inside his house to discover that it is a snow day outside! While the humans make tasty treats, Mouse scrambles out from his hole to pick up the crumbs. Little does he know that the cat is right behind him. The mouse and cat are pushed outside into the cold snow, where mouse skates with some friendly birds and avoids the cat. After going back inside, Mouse picks up some treats for his new bird friends and brings them back.
I rated this book three stars because although it is unremarkable, the moral of the story is important: sharing is caring. In the classroom, students could decorate cookies and share them with their classmates while chatting with them. This story could also lead into a discussion about the food chain, as Mouse is chased by a cat. Lastly, students could write a short paragraph on what they like to do on snow days, using imagery and description skills.
It's a snow day for the kids. They get to stay home and bake cookies with Mom. This means crumbs on the floor for Mouse. But when he goes after a dropped gumdrop the family cat takes notice, and so does Mom. Cat, Mouse and gumdrop are all swept out the front door. Mouse can't find his gumdrop, but there's so much else to do! There's a mouse-sized ice-rink and a mouse-size hill for sledding! And through it all that darn cat id ready to pounce!
Not to worry. Mouse makes it safely back to the warm house.
Not great. Would not recommend for read-aloud. Story is choppy and doesn't flow well.
Kids get a snow day and make cookies. Mouse ends up outside looking for a dropped gumdrop. The birds warn him of the bad cat trying to sneak up on him. In thanks, he later brings out cookie crumbs to share with the birds. They are all happy and good friends, which warms mouse up even more than a gumdrop would.
It's a snow day, and mouse finds himself enjoying the day out in the snow skating, building snow art, sliding down snow hills making new friends, and looking for a gumdrop all the while with the cat one step away.
A house mouse spends the afternoon playing in the snow and making some new friends. While I admired his unique snow sculptures, I was bored and I suspect kids will be too. A forgettable take on an overused theme.
Cute book with a sweet message. One thing I didn’t care for was random rhyming in the book. Overall wonderful illustrations with a message of kindness.

Not very good. The story was choppy. I felt like I kept skipping pages and missing information. The text didn’t match the art on multiple pages. Artwork was cute however.
It's a cute book; I loved the art. However, the story was a bit choppy, and sometimes I thought I might have skipped a page. It just did not flow well. The kids in my class loved it though!
What a cute little story. The illustrations are a bit too busy for my taste, but I'm not 5. Mouse has an adventure and then comes back to share with his new friends. It is a cute story which is easy to read and lends itself to lots of one-on-one interaction if you are reading this to a 5 year old.
I found it funny that I am reading this on a canceled school day due to the weather. I liked it but I found that it reminded me of Tom and Jerry a lot, and while I liked the mouse better in this, the cat was very one dimensional. Little disappointed in that, but I really liked the way that the mouse and the birds interacted together.
Mouse has the best snow day ever. There is cold snow, sweet candy and cookies, hot chocolate and friends! He keeps busy having fun in the snow and avoiding the car. Humorous illustrations make sure everyone has fun just reading about his adventures. Reviewer 4.

Cool illustrations in this one, and an undeniably popular theme, although humane-minded parents probably won't like the fact that Mom uses the broom to push the family cat outside on a winter's day because she doesn't want the floors dirtied.
This story of mouse was charming. My daughter loved what happened to the cat and liked the illustrations. This book will become one of our winter favorites.
Was loving this book with the very cute mouse and his goggles up until the very end. Very unexpected ending. Left us confused. The illustrations were very nice though.
