Nikki grew up hood rich, in Columbus, Ohio. She thought that she would live happily ever after with her, once elementary school crush, Jason. Working, hustling, and graduating college was the main focus, in addition to, being the "dope man's" wife, but when reality set in, and things didn't turn out in her favor. The happily ever after and white picket fence turned into barbwires and headaches, instead of happiness. One night of pleasure can turn into a lifetime of pain, when letting your emotions cloud your judgment.Jason is your typical young thug who came from nothing to something with the strong desire to chase money, drugs, and women. His vices began to cause a strain on the relationship that Nikki had worked so hard for. The question is will their love be enough to stand with drama and surprises that come along with his desires of the street life?Going through so much, in such a short period of time, Nikki's life does a complete 180. When Nikki decided that lies, love, and loyalty go hand-and-hand with the street life, she makes a change that blows everyone away. They say that, once a good girl goes bad, she's gone forever. Well, let's just say that Nikki was a good girl, with a heart that turned bad. It wasn't easily broken, in the midst of it ALL!
Messing with two men at the same time with no protection an knowing that they are messing with other women. I gave this book 4 stars because it was good. Nikki is just dumb... I wanted her prove to them dudes she was better than that, they just as dumb running up in her raw...
That was one crazy ride with those three. Jason could not get right for nothing. Shoot I wonder if she gonna keep this baby?! I would've been done with Shaun trifling tail. I don't see how she moved ole boy in. He was just a screw and she let it go to far. She was contradicting at the end. She was secretly on birth control even after Shaun threw them away. Hopefully it all works out for her.
I don't know what was wrong with Nikki, and what to make of the situation between Jason and Shaun. Nikki started off as a good girl, but after getting dragged through the mud with Jason, she finally had had enough. Shaun started off so promising, but he really wasn't any different than Jason. Nikki deserved so much better than both Jason and Shaun, but somehow she was torn between the two of them. There's only one way that this love triangle could end, and it's definitely not good.
Interesting read. Nikki is just too forgiving for my liking them again first love was always a touchy subject. Can't wait for part two to she is she put her foot down where she should.
I think the author did a good job with weaving together a story over a period of years. We the reader were able to experience the growth between Nikki, Jason, and her friends. The plot was well thought out and the overall tone of the book was good. I understood the concept and direction that Chanique J was taking us. With all of that being said I wasn't in love with these characters. I don't know if their age and my age difference prevented me from connecting fully with the characters but I was just overly frustrated with Nikki's lack of common sense when it came to her relationships. The argument can be made that because Jason was her first everything she was head over heels in love with him and willing to accept anything to be with the person she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. What I can't understand however, is her willingness to deal with someone else but still put up with the same behaviors she endured with Jason. I don't know this seems to be a common thread in a great deal of the books that I read which makes me wonder is this the norm or what young people expect in their relationships. Again it wasn't a bad read and I will definitely read the sequel. Hopefully part two will showcase more maturity and growth on Nikki's part and her decision making skills will improve. Good job Miss Chanique J. Keep doing you. I will continue to support and encourage others to give this book the chance it deserves.
Plenty of things going on in this book to keep you engaged. I hated how Jason treated Nikki but I equally hated Nikki for supporting his no good behind. I do understand love makes you do all kinds of craziness. I loved Shaun at first but I think what she did is what changed his behavior towards her. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book.
