In 2002 K'wan hit the scene with his debut novel Gangsta, under Triple Crown Publications. It was the first novel released by the budding house and would eventually become the building block for what is now a multimillion dollar company. What started as a therapeutic release went on to become a part of urban-lit history and an Essence bestseller, as well as drawing rave reviews overseas.
After penning his second novel, Road Dawgz (2003), K'wan drew the attention of St. Martins press. The literary powerhouse quickly signed K'wan to a multi-book deal, the first of which being Street Dreams (2004). In 2008 he received the Black Author of the year award from Black Press Radio for the novella Blow.
Since his insertion into the publishing world K'wan has been featured in Vibe, Pages, King, Felon, Big News, The Library Journal, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Press, Clutch and most notably Time Magazine, to name a few. He was also interviewed by MTV News for a feature on Hip-Hop fiction, and a guest on Power 105s morning show as well as NPR (national public radio). In addition to being an accomplished author, K'wan is also a motivational speaker, mentor to at risk children and the C.E.O of Black Dawn, Inc.
K'wan currently resides in New Jersey where he is working on his next novel.

I'm not sure whose idea it was to name this book 'sexy street tales' but as far as I could read only one was actually "sexy" and that would be a stretch for some people. Juicy Wright's story definitely was sexy IMO but the rest were regular street tales, nothing more.
I liked most of them- Erick Gray's and Anna J.'s were both fantastic, K'Wan's was good, I already mentioned Wright's, and Temple's sucked. I even skipped some sentences in Temple's 'Honey Dip'. 'Honey Dip' was very amateur- nothing else. I suppose maybe after writing some more she could do something but to be involved with an anthology with some of the hottest urban fiction names? Whoever made that call made a bad one.
I'll read the "sequel"....someday probably.

This book was so good. The book was based on mini stories of sexuality, drugs, gangs and violence. I loved the way the book had my undivided attention so well that when each story was over I was fiening to get the actual story.

Audiobook 🎧: This book is a compilation of short stories. Some of the stories end on a cliffhanger, the other ones were just mediocre. The book as a whole was just okay. This entirely my own opinion.

I found this book engaging. The stories from the streets were enlightening. It offered an authentic glimpse into street life. However, I wasn't particularly fond of K'wan's contribution. I am eager to see what part two brings.

Spicy tales with a bit of larceny by some of my faves.
More hits than misses in this anthology. One or two were somewhat pointless to me.
But, authors like K'wan never let me down.
