Annella, the fae-blooded daughter of a warrior, holds the spirit-walker ability. With her fae skill, she has only one goal, to find the man who captured her father and brother and seek retribution. The last thing she expects though is to connect within her dreams with an infuriatingly rugged Highlander of shifter blood who lives over eight-hundred years in the future. Her destiny is set, to free her nearest and dearest, although to find them she must now enlist the aid of the warrior from the future. He’s the best tracker there is, and also her best chance at finding them.
Highland warrior shifter Alec Matheson meets the most intriguing lass who visits him in his dreams, a woman who also poses the greatest challenge. His soul bound mate has come to him during her greatest time of need, and now he must travel back through time to aid her. His lithe, golden-haired enchantress wears lad’s clothing and is swift with the sword and trained in all manner of warfare. She is also nothing like he expects, yet everything he has ever desired.
Now, he must make certain they both survive her perilous mission, for seeking retribution could ensure their death, or unite their spirited souls. Let the battle for love begin.
Joanne Wadsworth is a NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY Bestselling Author who adores getting lost in the world of romance, no matter what era in time that might be. Hot alpha Highlanders hound her, demanding their stories are told and she’s devoted to ensuring they meet their match, whether that be with a feisty lass from the present or far in the past.
Living on a tiny island at the bottom of the world, she calls New Zealand home. Big-dreamer, hoarder of chocolate, and addicted to juicy watermelons since the age of five, she chases after her four energetic children and has her own hunky hubby on the side.
So come and join in all the fun, because this kiwi girl promises to give you her “Hot-Highlander” oath, to bring you a heart-pounding, sexy adventure from the moment you turn the first page. This is where romance meets fantasy and adventure…
This series titled "Clan Matheson", is a spinoff series from "The Matheson Brothers". #3 in the "Clan Matheson"series, but can be read as a stand alone. I would recommend reading the "Clan Matheson" as well, for background information. A "Paranormal Bear Shifter Romance". Fast paced, adventure filled, passion filled and unique. The author did a wonderful job of connecting the past with the future to tell an amazing, yet, complex tale with many twists and turns. The characters flew off the pages, were very intriguing and interesting. The storyline is compelling, with many challenges and a unique complexity that will have fans turning pages. I can't wait for Ronan and Kylie's story. And to learn the rest of the story... Powerful, but be warned it's steamy, passionate and has a hulky Bear Shifter as well as a feisty Dream walker. Fans of Paranormal Romance, Shifters, Dream Walker, Highlanders, Faes, Historical romance and danger will enjoy "Highlander's Sword". A keeper!

I found this book discounted on Amazon via Bookbub; this is my honest review -The banter between Alec and Annella is downright funny, especially before Alec accepted the bond. For ex. “I’ve missed you too.” “I didn’t say I’d missed you.” LOL. At 17% I'm thinking their relationship is so cute. “Nay, you willnae catch me out that easily, my mighty bear.” “I’m not your ... mighty bear.” -This story is longer than most of the books and yet I read it faster it was that good. The pace is fast and the story behind is great. -We get detailed paragraphs into Kirk and Cherub's love life, where it doesn't belong - it's not their story. We get Christina's full story 3 times and the author will repeat it in the next book where her story with Ronan is. -Most of the books have a lady looking into the mirror and loving the size of it. But in fact, they should love how they can see themselves better since the first mirrors were made out of brushed metal and didn't give a fair image. They also wish to explore "new and exciting things". Most of them will think at some point "dinnae know where you begin and I end". -We don't know what Alec forgot in his bedroom when he packed his bag. If he didn't why put "“I feel like I’ve forgotten something.” Frowning, he glanced about his chamber." -A few good surprises near the end, especially since I thought Muirin was a man. -Interesting fact: 1. “Aye, it flicks down to go on, and up to go off.” In Canada, our switches go the opposite side: up to go on, down for off, unless you have a three-way. -A bit unbelievable. 1. Duncan doesn't let either Ronan nor Niall sleep for a great number of days. You start hallucinating after 72 hours but neither looked to be when Annella visited both. 2. In any of the books where cell phones were involved, none of them have passwords. They are secret agents working for the gvmt; I'm a nobody and I have one. 3. When the kidnapping occurred, they didn't start searching right away where it happened; instead they waited several days, then went back. These are pros; how could they make this rookie mistake? 4. Same here. They build a (high) fire, cooked savory meats, while on the enemy's land where they could have seen the "smoke wafted all about" and smell the food. -Editing: 1. We're still having problems with the "over top" thingy: "blue tunic over top of her", "her back and over top of her", "then he rocked over top of her", "plodded in over top of her", "moved over top of her limp". 2. Ill-constructed sentences: “There you two are.” "the privacy he right now needed". 3. Wrong words: check/cheek, either/both, lesson/lessen, force/forcing ...
Another fun romp through time & space! What there’s no damsel in distress? Oh wait, there she goes, getting herself captured to set a trap for her brother and father. Annella is Fae-blooded though and has the ability of a “spirit walker”, one who can leave her body and travel to others subconscious, especially in dreams.
She’s been visiting Alec in his dreams for about a month, even though he’s 800 years in the future and doesn’t believe she’s real. At least this time it’s the male rejecting the soul-binding that is taking place throughout the novel. I love this series but it is good to mix it up sometimes.
Enough steam and heat to straighten your hair and make “Highlander’s Sword” 18+.

ONE INTERESTING TALE!!! This is one intriguing, exciting, action packed, pulse racing, heart pounding, page turning dynamo that grabs your attention from the start. Twists and turns, ups and downs, abound all the drama, danger, hard hitting, thrilling rollercoaster ride of emotions and events to sort through as the story unfolds. The characters and their personalities are so realistic and believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are descriptive and detailed it's easy to picture each scenario as it plays out perfectly. Joanne did an excellent job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Joanne, thanks for sharing this awesome read with us.
Anelle knows that the grumpy bear shifter Alec Matheson is her fated mate, but he is fighting it all the way's that he can . She is determined but so is he he is worried that his bear will hurt the fae who can spirit walk When her life is in danger he will step up though and save the day and in ding so realise he needn't of worried his bear loves her as much as him. This is once again a wonderful mixture of magic shapeshifter past and present all rolled into a wonderful story that has you turning the pages.
This is romantic, steamy intriguing. Alec is stubborn, demanding and protective. Annella is determined, fierce and strong. Alec's bear is unpredictable and hard to control, so when Annella turns up saying that she is his mate, he sends her away. But she's not going anywhere. When he father and brother are kidnapped he agrees to help find them, and eventually gives in to their bonding. There are several intriguing twists in this story and I can't wait to find out what they're all about.
A thrilling, emotional, sexy and heart pounding adventure filled with danger, mystery, magic and undeniable passion..... Could not put it down.
Annella, the fae-blooded daughter of a warrior is in desperate need for help to save her family.... Highland warrior shifter Alec Matheson is haunted nightly by a enchanting lass in his dreams. She is his destined mate and this is her greatest hour of need. Highly entertaining and exciting journey.
Annella, a fae spirit walker in 1210 Scotland has been dream walking with her soul bound mate Alec Matheson who lives 800 years in the future. Now she needs him and he must travel back in time to aid and save her. I liked this story a lot. The characters were wonderful together and rather than them denying they were mates, they just had to work together. Again, we’ve got a fae highlander calling her soul bound mate back from the future to help her.
Hard to deny bond: The story of Matheson clan members in past and present continue to unfold. Alec and Annella seem an unlikely pair from a dream world meeting that bridges to reality. I found the struggle of this couple partnered with the search for Annella’s father and brother to be quite interesting. All the magical aspects of the Fae along with a hidden plan by some of the Mackenzie’s made this a great fantasy read.

A well written story filled with danger, mystery, magic and passion. The storyline and plot are nice and the characters likeable. They are well described and develop nicely through the story. A captivating and enjoyable read that has some unexpected twists to keep the reader on the edge. A couple that has a lot thrown down at them before they can have their HEA. Worth the read.

Of all the shift you're books I've read this is probably 1 I wouldn't put in my top group maybe my middle group I like the theory the plot and the writing. The exception would be I didn't like sentences that didn't end completely. I thought the back and forth times bands were a little blurred And I got lost.
While I enjoyed learning about Alec and Annella. I felt there was some of the story left uncovered concerning Annella's father and some of her brother's situation. Hopefully these stories will be covered in the following books in The Fae series.
I have enjoyed each of Ms. Wadsworth's Highlander Books. Each one covers a different couple and the fae character has different gifts. The Highlander's Sword is no exception. It is a great read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is another stunning book for this series. It is an intensely emotional story and will just whip you all around on the emotional roller coaster. Trust me, it is worth it, though. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
WOW!! Another amazing book to this series! I absolutely loved Highlander's Sword. Annella is a young woman from the Fae village who is a spirit-walker. She holds the ability to go to people in their dreams and can communicate with them. She often finds herself pulled to one star that seems to shine very brightly and pulls her to visit this mystery person. Alec is a Bear Shifter from the Ivanson Castle. He is a rough, rugged and very fierce warrior. He is often called on for the toughest assignments because his bear is so fierce and he can always get the job done. He is said to be the best tracker that the clan possesses. This book swept right into the past and present day Highlands! Joanne Wadsworth has an amazing talent for writing and makes you feel as if you are one with her characters. You can see their scenery unfold right in front of you and you feel the depth of the character's emotions, as if they were your own. I laughed and cried along with her characters and I could feel the love between the couples in this book come to life. I am truly looking forward to more from all of these amazing characters and learning about some new ones! Thank you Ms Wadsworth for another wonderful book, keep them coming!
Highlander's Sword by Joanne Wadsworth. 4 out of 5 stars. This is the third book in the Clan Matheson series and, although I was a little put off by the blurb on it, it turned out to be a nice little read. The blurb doesn't mention all the mental fights that this soul-bound couple have together and the way Annella has to battle against Alec's constant rejection of her. I quite looked forward to the sparring between the two of them when she went dream-walking to visit him, and found it funny the way one moment he'd be refusing her and telling her to go away, leave him alone, and then the next, he'd be kissing her all over with a hunger that couldn't be ignored! This couple were really quite delightful in their love for each other, both in love and out of it! The only thing I would've have liked was a little more afterwards about how Annella's family had fared, although I could understand if Ms.Wadsworth intended to have their stories in later books of their own? I would recommend this book to all interested in shifters (bears especially), Magic, Fae beings with all sorts of abilities, and soul mates.
Annella is a fae who has spirit walker ability. She has been making visits to Alec Matheson who is a bear shifter. She feels the pull of attraction and knows that they are destined to be soul bound mates. Can she convince this grumpy bear shifter that they are meant for each other? Annella is so full of life. She will not give up on Alec who denies their intense fiery attraction. He's afraid that his bear will hurt her. Their battle of wills is filled with desire and lively banter. I loved these characters and enjoy reading about the Clan Matheson and their daring exploits. These shifters are fiercely protective of those they love. These stories are filled with adventure and romance combined with the excitement of time travel. Joanne Wadsworth has a way of pulling me into this exciting world where I catch up with familiar characters and fall in love with new ones. Highlander's Sword is fast moving and highly intriguing. I hope I don't have to wait to long for the next book. I need to know what happens next. I love these romances and keep them to reread.
Highlander's Sword is another great example of author Joanne Wadsworth's talent. This well written book is packed with drama, action, humor and sizzle. The characters are the best part of Highlander's Sword, old and new, I love them all. Ms Wadsworth has managed to weave time travel with paranormal (shifters and fae) and delivered it in a package that will hold your attention from start to finish. Annella and Alec's story is a fun read. Highlander's Sword is book 3 in the Clan Matheson Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I enjoyed Highlander's Sword and look forward to reading more from Joanne Wadsworth in the future.
