Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

I have to say I do like reading Linsey Hall's work because she always delivers a story I will enjoy. Fantasy/paranormal romances are always fun to read because they are different than regular contemporary romance. Master of Fate is a 4 heartbreakingly pretty stars novel and that's what I'm leaving it as.

Felix and Aurora were in love many years ago before it was stripped from them. Aurora went missing, Felix thought her dead, and lost many years to captivity. Felix suffered his own issues due to Aurora's disappearance, someone wanting information about her whereabouts, and his heartbreak. When the two are thrown together once again there's nothing that can stop them from falling into one another again.

Two battered hearts finally are able to heal while trying to figure out who is out to hurt them both. They struggle to deal with one another after so many changes have occurred within them, fears are still welled up inside of them, and the time they have to figure things out is running short. I was wrapped up in this story after the first few pages because Linsey Hall writes in such a style that you can literally become the character you're reading. I liked the story and will probably continue to read Hall's work.

***** 4 'Exception to Every Rule' Stars *****

Can be read as a standalone

Felix and Aurora had a beautiful past when they were younger, but due to some tragic events, they were separated for hundreds of years. Aurora was trapped in an immortal hell, and Felix was brutally tortured. Felix always kept her secrets safe, and he never gave up on looking for Aurora when he got out.

When Aurora was released from her prison, she had to learn how to adjust to the 21st century. Whenever she came across a computer, tv, or cell phone, she needed to tear it apart and see how it worked. Although she had the support of her sister, she felt alone and incomplete.

Felix and Aurora was reunited when she was assigned to close a powerful portal. But this portal wasn't just any portal. This portal was connected to their painful past.

I couldn't stop reading. I fell in love with the characters instantly. These two damaged souls were perfect for each other. This was the first time I read something by Linsey Hall, and I know this won't be my last.

If you are looking for a first rate paranormal series then this author sure knows how to deliver. Ive been entranced by these books since I first discovered them and yet still Ms Hall has the ability to entertain and surprise this reader. This is amazingly the sixth book in the series and yet it's still a completely original story with both new and also much loved characters from previous books . This is a book about love and loss that's tragic and yet this is a romance so of course this couple deserve a happy ending.
We have met the Soulceress Aurora before but the reader knows full well that her powers are reviled by most of her fellow Mytheans and yes there is good cause. She lost control of her gifts and crossed the line but her sister never gave up on her . Now Aurora is trying to live a quiet life in Edinburgh but it seems her talents are very much needed and so she journeys to Iceland to help .
Felix lost the female who called to his inner wolf and spent so many years trying to hunt her down. Taken prisoner by an evil seer he barely escaped with his life and now he lives with the consequences of his incarceration . Felix is unable to bare the simplest touch and now lives alone bedeviled by his memories. If Felix thought life could not get worse he was very much mistaken because back into his life comes the woman he believed dead, Aurora! Thrown together , adrift through time this couple are about to face the torment of a desire so hot it's incandescent ! This couple have both suffered so much but their journey is about to get even more dangerous as past and present collide .
Yes this is part of a series but very easy to read as a standalone. I've loved each book and enjoy these larger than life characters. What really hooks me though are the astounding powers this author imbues her characters with. Magic and shifters are frequently a theme in paranormal romance but the characters in this series delight with truly inspired abilities. Definitely not run of the mill and I always care about each couple. That's possibly why these books work so well as each time I pick up a Mythean story I know I'm getting a unique adventure, fuelled by passion that will leave me smiling . Felix and Aurora were on their way to being fated mates when their worlds were torn apart and turned upside down. Tragedy drives Aurora mad with grief and onto a path of destruction for several years until she is imprisoned in the aether. Felix is captured and tortured for decades and then suddenly his captor disappears. Each thinking the other lost, both are suddenly thrown together by fate 3 centuries later. Time and life experiences has broken and put them together to some extent but neither is completely healed.

Battle scars and wounds are aplenty between them but their love is still alive and there is hope yet for them if they are still alive. And together they will help each other to heal. But one thing they are both sure of is that no one will control them anymore and they are truly the masters of their own fates.

I have enjoyed this series since book 1 and still am enjoying it. Each one seems to have an original story that is a lot more than just hooking two people up. The sex is sometimes a bit overdone IMHO but that is just a personal preference and not overdone to the point of really being distracting to the plot.

Aurora and Felix were a good match for this story and the author probably saved herself some time by using an updated scene in Iceland from the last book we saw Aurora in which was a nice tie in since I am sure more people than me wondered what would become of the city in Iceland.

The action was good, the writing was good (found 1 minor inconsistency close to the end, not a major thing) the story was great as always and when it was done I wanted more (always a sign of a good book). I am guessing Malcolm will be the subject of the next book, he looks to be an interesting character.

Bottom Line: Great story, when all else is set aside I loved the story and that is why we read books. I want the next one already so I think we can say I REALLY enjoyed it. 4 Stars only because of a few slower parts and maybe a bit too much sex for my personal tastes, 5 Star story though.

After the last one, I gave myself a break from this series. But this one was Aurora's book, so I wasn't going to put that off forever. These two even communicate with each other and respect each other's boundaries, which was pretty great.
Not really any mythology or archaeological sites, but there's lots of time travel and spice in this one.

Kindly provided with an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review......

So little needs to be said about this book !!.I mean just read the blurb peeps for god sake......how god damn awesome is that story line ?.

Okay, okay I will grace you with my pearls of reviewing wisdom.....

This is Fleix and Aurora's story.....
Felix a werewolf half-blood, he and Aurora were on their way to becoming fated mates then s**t hit the fan and they were torn apart. Aurora is a feared witch who was well........for want of a better word a "soul kleptomaniac". Yup, great description there Donna.

It's soooo not her fault though, its quite sad. this soul stealing/accumulating thing is a drive that she NEEDS to do. Aurora bless her is compelled to take soul's until her sister helps her out with that problem.

After Aurora is freed from "soul overload" as I termed it. Aurora is just laying low in Edinburgh, getting on with her life, as she thinks Felix is dead, no-more, gone forever......depressing eh ?. Unfortunately Felix was actually being held prisoner that's the reason for his disappearance......

Felix too believes Aurora is lost forever. My poor Fleix, boy has he suffered. He was a prisoner, tortured for a VERY LONG time. one day his captors poof are gone, no more and Felix is free. As a result of his nasty experiences, he just carn't bare being touched. Felix I just thought was just so very lonely (in my opinion). Felix is heart broke over his loss of Aurora. Annnnnnd 300 years later she is back..........yay.

Getting good No ?......continuing......well, Aurora ends up traipsing off to where Felix is to help and to prove her innocence as there is some major soul matters going on !. Aurora decided she needs to do some MAJOR investigating !!. Aurora is determined not to get thrown back into the "nothingness" (her own personal hell prison)......so off she trundles to Iceland (yes Aurora I felt your pain. I too hate the cold).

Well waddaya know we have a HALLELUJAH moment between our two lovers when they meet up again !!. Que the Kleenex. These two broken souls just rocked it right back into loves ville !!!.....FANTASTIC !!!!.You've wasted enough time apart.

Anyway, they are both now on the case trying to solve who is out to hurt them or frame Aurora (more like it). From start to finish this story had my FULL attention. I loved Felix and Aurora as leading characters and despite all of the crap they have suffered, their love story just made me feel all gooey, warm "n" fuzzy and smile BIG TIME. Not soppy at all !!!

Would I recommend ? Oh YEAH that's a Defo fellow Mythean lovers !

Despite this being book 6 in the series, I was able to jump right into this Fabulous World. This books is a MUST for all paranormal romance lovers who want to read a gutsy, twist and turn, addictive read !!

A Very Well Done Linsey !!

Many thanks Netgalley for this opportunity.

Later peeps xx

Ever since reading Soulceress I’ve been a fan of the series and Linsey Hall’s writing and Master of Fate has simply solidified that fact because I honestly had my doubts about how she could turn Aurora, who was a the ultimate evil bitch in Soulceress, into someone that I could empathize with and want to get her own HEA, but she proved me wrong (or right depending on how you look at it) and had me really liking and rooting for Aurora, and Felix, from beginning to end.

As I’ve already stated, I ended up really liking Aurora from the very first page because she took responsibility for her actions and never tried to make excuses for the crazy, evil bitch she became. Instead she worked to understand the time she was now living in and worked damn hard to fight the urge to take souls on a daily basis. Through this process, and beyond, we get to see her not only as a badass woman who can hold her own, but just how big her heart is and the lengths she will go to in order to protect those she calls hers.

What Felix went through was heartbreaking and all for the love of his mate. If that doesn’t make you go all gooey on the inside for the male, just seeing how kind and careful he is with Aurora and Mouse will do it. He’s this big, badass yet tortured Mythean who has a heart of gold, is extremely sexy and though his alpha male protective instincts go off quite a few times, he knows that the women around him, Aurora specifically, can take care of themselves.

With this story we get a little bit of a friends to lovers scenario through flashbacks as well as a second chance at love for Felix and Aurora and I actually enjoyed seeing who they had once been because it showed what they could become once again, if they worked through their own personal demons while fighting the specter that was haunting them both. The entire process was sexy, sweet, fun and heartbreaking.

I enjoyed sitting back and watching as all the plot twists and turns played out and then came together in the end as we find out who is behind all the chaos and why, and I have to say it was very well done. The flashbacks were woven very well into the story and only served to enhance, rather than detract, not only Felix and Aurora’s story, but the overall plot of the book. And while it was very nice to see Esha, Warren, Sylvi, Loki/Logan and Malcolm in the story, my favorite characters were Chairman Meow and Mouse ~ loved Mouse!

The Bottom Line: Another fun, well crafted and sexy addition to the series.

Paranormal romance lovers who enjoy angst and torture, this book is for you. This is the sixth book in The Mythean Arcana series. Full disclosure, I did not read the first five books in this series. Whilst I cannot endorse this book to be a standalone, I can state that it was easy for me to figure out what was going on and get into the story. Aurora is a witch who the majority of supernatural world loathes. She is a witch who subsists on other supernatural's life force. After the brutal killing of her mother and the disappearance of her lover, she went on an epic killing spree. It is impressive how dark Aurora went. This is all explained quickly as the story starts with Aurora free from her prison cell and working to redeem herself.

I liked Aurora. She reminds me of Dark Willow on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Dark Willow is hawt and more interesting than good Willow. Aurora does have a bit of a dark side and it helps her keep everyone on their toes. Felix, her long ago lover is a character I liked too. These two lovers are not exactly star-crossed. They are torn apart and kept away by dark forces they did not fully understand. This is where the story becomes intriguing.

This is a plot driven story and it is well done. The pace is good as it bounces back and forth through time. The transitions between time periods is smooth and easy to follow. The reveals of past history helps explain and resolve the conflicts. Ms. Hall does a good job of setting each new clue up to lead to the next reveal. Whilst this story is not exactly predictable, I would say that it contains no surprises. I say this because Ms. Hall continuously foreshadows the answers well in advance so the reader is not blindsided. This works out well because the story unfolds layer by layer in an easy to follow manner. Readers are led to the big confrontation with an expected resolution. Readers will be satisfied with the loose ends tied up at the end. This paranormal romance is recommended to readers who enjoy second chance themes.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I always love a good second chance romance. Most of the time, I get that kind of story in contemporary romance. However, it's also great to read that trope in paranormal romance novels. That seems to be the arc for Master Of Fate. The main characters were in love a long, long time ago until circumstances tore them apart. They both endured their individual pain and suffering as a result of that separation.

After a long time, they are once again brought together by fate. I like that both characters didn't dick around on their feelings. They both had experiences that changed them and made them into different people from who they once were. However, beneath all that, it was obvious right away that they still loved each other. Now, it's just a race against time in figuring out who was trying to hurt them. Also, their journey now included being able to heal each other.

This isn't my first Linsey Hall book, and I have to say that I truly enjoy this series. I don't have a long list of PNR authors that I know I can depend on, and she is on that list. The last time I reviewed a book from this series, I resolved to read this series from the beginning. Now, I resolve to look out for more books from this series. It's just a good PNR story that's fresh and really easy to get into.

Intriguing storyline, compelling plot, and a dark, sexy romance...A MUST CHECK OUT BOOK! Not only do we get some shifters and witches in this incredible story, but we also get TIME-TRAVEL! How wicked cool is that? I was astounded and amazed on how much creativity and brilliance Miss Hall put into Master Of Fate. I liked the characters and the fact that there were many twists to the storyline. The chemistry and sex was SMOKING HOT too!

This story is one adventure after another. Full of action, sizzling chemistry, wonderful dialogue and terrific characters. Linsey Hall is an author to really keep an eye out for. FOUR SHOOTING STARS is what I give Master of Fate. MUST READ!

fitting broken pieces together...

This is a great love story with loads of spice! If you like closed door romance then it's probably not the book for you. The main characters fell in love when they where young and were torn apart by travesty and trauma. Just when they thought they were truly lost to one another fate stepped in and gave them a shove. It sad learning how time and trama broke the female and male main characters in different ways but I promise you will be rewarded by watching as they help each other put the pieces back together with nothing but love and determination all while fighting a villain from their past. Linsey Hall did a great job of systematically intertwining the two lead characters horrid past together without them even knowing and when they finally put the pieces together it makes a fantastic love story with a lot of depth. This book is more love story than action but it's definitely not lacking.

Drama, heartbreak and enduring love.
Aurora is a soulceress who was trapped in a aether prison for 300 years.
Felix is 1/2 Wulver and 1/2 time walker.
They met during the witch burning years when Aurora and her mother were on the run. They fell in love but were separated by fate.
This book was amazing as Aurora and Felix meet again under dire circumstances and work together to unravel a mystery portal and find their way back to each other.

This was probably my favorite of the series so far. I like Aurora a lot and Felix is so damaged, but sweet. There are a few passages that I found redundant or unnecessary, but for the most part I really enjoyed this one.

I will say this author does have a formula when it comes to the romances and the steamy parts, so much so that I can pretty much predict exactly what is going to happen. This one was a little different which was refreshing, but basically still the same. Either way, still enjoyable.

I didn’t know if I’d like a book based on Aurora (Esha sister from previous book) but I really like her and Felix. Really good, and had me reading late into the night. Was intense in a good way. Highly recommend.

Soul mates

Soul crossed lovers kept apart by fate, imprisonment, and witches. He was tortured and can't stand touch, she was imprisoned in a dark cold inbetween. Can they overcome and find each other to love again?
