From Brooklyn and Back Again: A Memoir

Rate this book
1970s Brooklyn • Junkyard Sports • Sunday Gravy From by-gone Brooklyn to high-powered Manhattan, to Chicago, Lisa Racioppo weaves a provocative tale of one woman stepping over the neighborhood boundaries to build her truth on the rock solid foundation of Brooklyn moxie. Lisa conveys the essence of being from to know what it means to say, “What Happens in the Slope, stays in the Slope,” and to learn to always pull yourself up by your bootstraps. Lisa provides snapshots of how living on the block taught her how to live in the world. But more than that, she demonstrates how coming from a humble past can be a strength and asset when you approach life with humor, an open heart, and a determination to succeed.

This book is pure inspiration. Lisa Racioppo takes readers on a vivid journey from the streets of Brooklyn to the fast pace of Manhattan and Chicago with honesty and humor that leaps off the page. Her storytelling captures what it truly means to rise above your roots without ever forgetting them. The reflections on resilience, self-discovery, and Brooklyn pride made me smile, laugh, and reflect on my own path. A must-read for anyone who believes in the power of determination and authenticity.
