3.5 Learning About Yourself Stars * * * 1/2

I have been on a Wedding, Fake Mate, Pretend Partner binge. I have a soft spot for these types of tales and when one of them does a great job of giving a little something extra, I love it.

This book had sass and a bit of snap. The characters were likable and human. Neither one was exactly perfect. Both had relationship issues which caused them to be cynical in many ways about romance.

Our fella is actually a gem; good heart, loves his cousin and figured out how to live a life worth living. He comes from wealth but his emotional life was poor of parental love. His parents thought of him as an accessory until he showed promise in Football. Then he was important to their image and peers. Once the football career was ended by numerous life threatening hits, he was disposable. He did recover with strength and determination by focusing on the health field. His gyms are successful and he wants to do more.

Our gal is a little lost. She is just coming off a break up with a cheater and louse. She is part of a family who has had a "curse" of first born women having men leave them. She is at "that age" where all her relatives are pointing fingers and thinking her life will be of an Old Maid. She has a wedding for her baby sister to go to and learns the ex is going to be the best man. UGH...and a cousin during a fitting for their dresses has thrown the curse in her face one too many times. She doesn't want to detract from the joy of her sister's wedding and this b*tch cousin needs to be put in her place.... so....

Out comes the statement of her being in a relationship no one knows about and how fantastic he is; handsome, rich and caring...

As the sister, snot cousin and her mother all start talking about how wonderful this is and when are they going to meet him... sister leans in and says how happy she is and can't wait for him to be at the upcoming wedding in two weeks.

This cannot be happening...how did our girl end up with this catastrophe. Just when she thinks she will have to miss her sister's wedding to save face, she sees a magazine ad for Match Made Easy. As she scans the information, she knows this is the only way out of the lies she told. She will not be the subject of pity at the wedding and her wishes for that day to be all about her sister will happen.

Match Made Easy is a business our guy's cousin owns. She is the only family who has ever cared about him and remained loyal all these years. Both of them have been there for each other. When she needed investors for her dating company, he took the funds targeted for his kids project and gave them to her. He knew it was the right thing to do and he would figure out another way to save up for the program.

Now he is being asked to rescue his cousin again. She has this wedding date- 4 nights... and her "special guy" who would have done the job is in the hospital. After pulling all the family, love you cards to make him say yes... he sees who he will be escorting.

It turns out this world is too small for our girl... because her escort to this event... it none other than the boy who teased her along with others during middle school and high school...

How is she going to go with him...

This story moved very quickly and had buckets of charm. It was one of those cute wedding fantasy things where both of them had feeling for each other... but because of the circumstances - neither were sure if the feelings were real. There was quick banter, sweet affection and learning lessons for all concerned. It is part of a series, however, I did not feel as if I had missed anything. It could be read as a stand alone.

If you've read Fiancé by Fate, you'll remember Sabrina's friend Maddie. :)

And yes, I wrote this book so feel free to disregard the 5 star rating. LOL
But I do love this story and hope you will too.

And, as is my style, here are some of my favorite/amusing lines from the book:

“Ah, like how Sharon Parker’s bra kind of found its way into your locker?”
He leaned in, resting his elbows on the table. “Are you going to constantly bring these things up the entire time we’re dating?”
“Sorry. Just using my prior knowledge to try and gauge what kind of fake boyfriend you’re going to make.”
“Well, if your bitterness is any indication of the kind of fake girlfriend you’re going to be, I won’t hold my breath for you to fake put out.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What are you all worked up about?" he asked warily.
"This," she spat, motioning to the small space where she sat and he lay, "is what I call taking advantage." Glaring, she looked all flustered and—Lord-don't-put-him-in-more-hot-water-than-he-already-was—sexy with her blond curls bouncing with each word she sputtered. "And you can kindly remove your hand now, too."
He glanced down and blinked. Then, with as much remorse as he could muster, he carefully slid his hand out from underneath her butt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

He cocked his head and sent her a dimpled smile. "Where are you going in such a hurry?"
Where am I going? "I don't know. Probably the library."
"On a Friday night?" He made a show of horror. "What the heck are you going to do there?"
"Oh, what most people do at their local library—three way orgy, summon up the dead, if there's time, jam up the copy machine with Canadian quarters. Same old same old."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I do think you should change in private. You don't see me ripping off my clothes in front of you, now do you?"
He gave a deep fake sigh. "Sadly, no."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I know it must seem completely idiotic to you," Maddie said, hoping to coax at least a grunt from her, "hiring a date to your only sister's wedding and all."
Louise slowly nodded.
"I mean, who does such things nowadays, right? Women don't need men for anything. Well, they do need them for one thing. But that's all—and, really, debatable depending on your sexual orientation."

Super cute!

I really enjoyed this one, it was just what I was looking for. Jennifer Shirk never disapoints. Wedding Date for Hire uses one my favorite plot devices, two people pretending to be a couple. In this case, Maddie hires a guy to be her date for her sisters wedding. Wanting to save face in front of an ex and to shush her nosey family she feels this is her last resort. She was not expecting to be matched with Trent.

Maddie was easy to like and root for. Trent was also very likable. I loved their past, added another fun level to their who "fake dating" story and I thought it added a lot to the story. Maddie and Trent were fun together, great chemistry. The writing is well done and engaging, caught myself grinning a few times.

Overall, this was a charming story and a very fun read. Highly recommend.

This is a lovely story where family jokes and quips at the expensive of one person really aren’t funny to the victim. She’s fed up of the WD40 mentions (you’ll need to read it to understand that) and determined she won’t show up alone to her sister’s wedding where her ex-boyfriend is also the best man. Seeing an advert for ‘Match Made Easy’ seems to be the answers to her prayers until she meets the match - someone she went to school with and humiliated her in those days despite her having a secret crush on him! Oh dear, this five day wedding celebration looks like being tortuous! To see how it works out though, you need to go read it yourself - but be prepared for some laugh out loud moments along the way!

Maddie McCarthy feels the world is against her as she’s recently found her now ex-boyfriend with someone else, he’s got her fired from her job as a pastry chef and her younger sister is getting married. With no job, no boyfriend and no prospects, she’s not exactly looking at the world through rose tinted glasses! Match Made Easy seems to be the solution to prevent the sympathy, comments and possible problems she’s bound to encounter at the wedding since her ex will be the best man and she’s the matron of honour.

Trent Montgomery isn’t actually an escort. He owns and runs three gyms but can’t let his cousin flounder as she searches for someone to escort Maddie to the wedding. He hates weddings but, as the chemistry between him and Maddie hits scorching maybe he’ll get a chance to prove he’s not just a date for hire but a mate for life enabling them to achieve their HEA together? However, watch out for the WD49 effect, things aren’t going to go anywhere near as smoothly as he hopes!

This is a delightful, sweet romance which I thoroughly enjoyed. It is well written with great characters and an enjoyable plot. I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys the journey to romance to have many twists, turns and obstacles to be overcome, some funny instances and plenty of surprises along the way! I lovely chicklit to escape into ☺

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too for provided an ARC for me to read in exchange for this, my honest review.

Maddie McCarthy is tired of being the laughing stock of her family and living with the curse of being unlucky in love. In a moment of frustration, Maddie decides to tell everyone she has a boyfriend. When she sees an ad advertising the services of Match Made Easy, she sees this as an answer to at least one of her prayers. Too bad her hopes and prayers are dashed when she discovers her Match Made Easy date is with Trent “Money” Montgomery.

Back in high school, Trent was an arrogant, self-centered jock and one of Maddie’s many tormentors. He’s now a changed man. Agreeing to do a favor for his cousin who owns Match Made Easy, Trent steps in at the last minute to be Maddie’s date. His cousin desperately needs Maddie’s business and the connections she could offer. With no time to figure out another option, Maddie has no choice but to go along with Trent being her date.

Maddie loves her younger sister, Louise, so much that she wants her wedding day to be special. She will do whatever is necessary to make sure Louise is the main focus and not her. Maddie has abandonment issues as a result of her father leaving the family. She thinks like all the other older first daughters in her family that she’s cursed in the love department, as it seems her relationships only last a few weeks. Trent is a nice and decent guy. He isn’t the teenager seeking attention like he use to be. His only true family is his cousin and his dog. He’s been hurt so he isn’t really one to believe in love and forever.

My biggest issue with this story is Maddie's sister, the bride. It’s Louise’s wedding but the best man is Maddie’s ex-boyfriend, who cheated on her and got her fired from the restaurant they both worked at. I don’t understand why Louise didn’t insist her soon to be husband pick someone else to be the best man. It’s not like the best man was the groom’s brother. I don’t even think the two hung out in the book.

Wedding Date for Hire is a really sweet romance. It’s perfect for tweens and adults who believe that love conquers all and truly love happy endings. Maddie and Trent are both people I would love to know. All the secondary characters, except for one, are likeable and Maddie’s Aunt Marie brings humor and intelligence to the story. This is a story of love, friendship, trust, and second chances.

Maddie's life has been flipped upside down. Between breaking up with her cheating ex-boyfriend, losing her job because of said ex, her family's "curse" and being the maid of honor at her sister's wedding, she's about to lose her mind! When she finds out that her ex is the best man, she is desperate to get a date to the wedding. But she has horrible luck with men. So what's a girl to do? Hire a fake boyfriend that's what! She's good to go with the plan until she meets her match... Trent. The jock she had a huge crush on in high school who helped make her life miserable. How in the world is she going to fool her family into thinking that HE is her "real" boyfriend? And how is she going to stop old feelings from resurfacing?

Trent doesn't actually work for Match Made Easy. He's just doing his cousin a favor by posing as an escort. A favor that he wishes he wouldn't have agreed to when he finds out it's for a wedding. He hates weddings. He doesn't believe in love and happily ever afters. What he does believe in is his cousin, who was the only one there for him during one of the most difficult times in his life. He would do anything for her. He has no intention of falling for the girl. That is absolutely out of the question. Until he gets to know his feisty, full of sass fake girlfriend. Boy is he in trouble.

Both Maddie and Trent have been hurt and abandoned in the past. Is it any wonder that they have a hard time trusting people? But the more time they spend together, the more they get to know one another, the more their feelings start to grow. How do they know what's true and what's an act? Both of them are going to have to start being honest with themselves and each other if they are ever going to get their happily ever after.

I am seriously loving this series! I can't believe it's taken me so long to read it. I guess I should have paid more attention when my book buddies were reading and loving these books... ;) Jennifer Shirk really does know how to suck me into her books! I can't wait to read the next book in the series! :)

And how about this casting?! *dreamy sigh*

I love chick lit and this one totally delivered! Maddie needs a date for her sister's wedding and fast! Without any prospects on the horizon, she turns to Match Made Easy, a paid service, to find the perfect date to show her family she is not affected by "the curse." What she gets, or rather...who...is not quite what she is expecting: Trent. Maddie is a little uptight, but so adorable.

Trent isn't perfect, but he sure comes across that way. I love the way he was able to handle Maddie and the situations that arose throughout this wedding weekend.

I was laughing out loud in so many places! I was feeling embarrassed for Maddie, cracking up over sizzling exchanges and reactions between the two, finding humor in her eccentric family, and swooning over interactions between them.

I've read similar themed books before, but never with this much chemistry and laughter. I loved every minute of it and enjoyed the wide range of emotions felt. The characters are well developed and practically jumped off of the pages.

This book definitely stands alone, but we do see Jack and Sabrina from Fiance by Fate make a few appearances. This is definitely one to read and read again and is going on my favorites list!

Content: some mild innuendo and some steamy clean kissing; mild swearing; no violence or religious elements. Clean!

I love a good “fake relationship” story!!! Two people coming together under false pretenses and then developing real feelings along the way. They are full of misunderstandings and when done right, just the right amount of angst. I really enjoyed reading Maddie and Trent’s incredibly sweet story.

Maddie feels pressure as her sister’s wedding looms. She’s been cheated on, dumped and lost her job. Add in a nasty/bitter/jealous cousin and a family curse and you have a recipe that has Maddie hiring an escort for the wedding. What could possibly go wrong, right? I couldn’t stop smiling when I realized the connection that already existed between Maddie and Trent when they first meet. Their trust issues, mutual attraction and “wrong end of the stick” for each other's true situation was very entertaining.

The attraction and growing affection between Maddie and Trent was very sweet. It was exactly the kind of romance I was looking for today and left me very satisfied. Jennifer Shirk’s writing style had me completely engaged and completely gobbled it up in less than a day.

Really enjoyed this one.

If you are looking for a fun, flirty romance for some light, happy reading, this will fit the bill perfectly. This book is sure to make you smile. It sure made me smile!

Maddie is entertaining and a bit frustrating. She has a crazy family and deals with a lot of pressure about getting married. She needs a date for her sister's wedding and decides to look into Match Made Easy- a date for hire company.

Trent is the guy that is matched up with Maddie. I love how Trent decides early on that Maddie is the girl for him and tries to win her over. It might start out as a favor for his cousin but quickly turns into something more. Trent is such a good guy. So sweet and attentive to Maddie. There is definite chemistry between Maddie and Trent in this book and it was entertaining to watch their chemistry spark all over the place. So fun! I'll be on the lookout for the next book by Jennifer Shirk.

Maddie has a problem...a little problem, possibly a big problem. But when she opens her mouth to stop her cousin's rudeness and pressuring she creates a whole slew of problems, escalating her little/big problem into disaster mode. Oh why did she let her cousin provoke her? Why can't she just stay calm. Maybe it's all part of the curse....

It started years ago, this curse. Maddie is a grown woman and has been suffering from it and hearing about it all her life. If there were ever any way that she could break free from it, she would.

What is this curse you ask? Well I can't say yet, it's buried within the pages of this book as well as the discovery of whether Maddie ever overcomes the curse or if it will haunt her and forever be a part of her life.

I really enjoyed reading Wedding Date for Hire. This was my first Jennifer Shirk novel. After seeing many reviews from this book and from her book Wrong Brother, Right Match, I knew I wanted to delve into the pages of one of her books. I wasn't disappointed.

The synopsis tells you that Maddie hires a date for her wedding. She has to save face with her mom, sister and cousin after telling them a lie that she's been dating someone for months and he's coming. He's gorgeous, talented, wealthy and completely into her. Oh why oh why did she have to lie? Luckily for her she happens to see an add for Match Made Easy and decides to take the plunge.

Trent fits all of Maddie's specifics for her date and then some, but he's lacking in one way...he's not part of Match Made Easy. He's only agreed to help out Kennedy, the owner and his cousin. When Maddie comes storming into his gym and sees him she refuses to accept him as her date and says she'll keep searching. What is wrong with this woman? Trent doesn't understand why she would do a quick turn around seconds after seeing him. Yes he has trust issues, yes he doesn't care for dating and yes he's quickly changing his mind and wouldn't mind spending four days with this beautiful woman at a wedding party. Sign him up!

Unfortunately for Maddie, she's stuck with Trent as her date. Ok Maddie, breathe in, breathe out, now take the plunge! She did it, now if they can only survive the critical eye of her whole family scrutinizing every little action she and Trent make then her little scheme (big lie) will succeed. All seems to be going according to plan until...

Oh there was plenty of humor in this fun book, plenty of chemistry zinging between Trent and Maddie and plenty of crazy situations that they found themselves in. But the one thing they didn't expect was to really fall for each other. Soon everything gets tangled and messed up and Maddie doesn't know how to get out of her web of lies.

I loved the dynamic between these two characters. There were some harder moments that made it a real struggle for both of them. They had some choices to make, come clean with the secrets they both harbored or keep playing the game.

I'm definitely going to keep Jennifer Shirk on my radar of authors and keep reading more from this series. I kind of started in the middle but no worries, it works as a stand alone if you do the same thing that I did.

Content: There was mild swearing scattered throughout the novel. Mild innuendos, more frequent at the beginning but they seemed to taper off further into the story. Lots of sweet kisses and a few steamy kisses. Maddie and Trent end up sharing a room together at the wedding because of their charade, there's some kissing but nothing further happens. Overall I'd say it's a clean read, not squeaky clean with the innuendos though.

I snagged a copy from Amazon.

Happy Reading!!!

Adorable fun!

This is book two in the series, but could easily stand on its own...but I loved seeing Sabrina and Jack from "Fiancé By Fate" again. So I would recommend reading the first book. :)

Maddie and Trent...they were such a fun couple! Both such likable characters and I found myself easily rooting for them. Maddie believes she's a victim of the family "curse" when it comes to her love life...so when her sister's wedding rolls around, she hires a date from a rent-a-date service to try to silence her family members who continually throw the curse in her face. Trent is the guy she gets "matched" with...but he's just doing his cousin a favor. He's not really employed by the company. Along the way, there are laughs, bumps in the road, and such flirty, fun tension!! I just love fake relationship stories and the tension it creates (especially when they start out not liking each other and try to fight the attraction they have for one another)--and this book did not disappoint!

If you like romantic comedies, then you'll love this one! Another great book from Ms. Shirk!

This was a cute and funny story. Now I didn't read the first book but I can say I really enjoyed this read.

Maddies sister is getting married but on top of that she was dumped and lost her job. While fitting for her dress she tells her family she has a boyfriend and hires Trent. These two went to high school together and Trent wasn't very nice back then. When she hires him to be her date it's all make believe until feelings begin to change.

I loved Trent and Maddie as a couple. They had some real cute and funny moments. I found myself smiling while they were pretend dating.

This book doesn't have any sex scenes but you actual forget that fact while reading. Although this book was a bit short I really did love the characters and the storyline.

The epilogue at the end was sweet. I hope there is a book after this just so we can see Maddie and Trent tie the knot. I recommend this book and it contains a wonderful happily ever after.

Maddie McCarthy's life is in the dumper! She's lost her boyfriend, her job, and horror of all horrors, she has to go to her sister's wedding dateless unless she does something. Quick!! Since finding a date seems impossible, and she can't stand the humiliation of going alone, she does the next best thing. She hires an escort (not that kind, keep it clean people!). When her date turns out to be Trent Montgomery, her high school tormentor and she might have had a little crush on him, she's ready to run! To help his cousins fledgling business and get back his initial investment to save his own business Trent knows he has to convince Maddie that this is a good idea and he is no longer the idiot he was in high school. If the sizzling chemistry going on between the two of them is anything to go by, he was definitely an idiot! Theirs might be the best first date EVER!

This was a fantastic read and one I highly recommend.

3.5 Stars. I am usually extremely stingy when it comes to buying books, but when I see a fake relationship story on sale for $0.99 I can't help myself. Wedding Date for Hire was a super cute, fast read and I have no regrets.

This had all the elements that I enjoy in fake relationship books. I wish the book would have been a little bit longer, though, just so it could expand on some of the secondary storylines a bit more. I felt like there were a lot of things brought up and then quickly resolved and brushed off. Overall, though, this was a very cute, fairly clean story that I think fans of the fake relationship trope will enjoy.

My favorite in this series!

4.5 Stars for this one! I really liked the premise of the book and the way the story unfolded. Our protagonist, Maddie, was desperate for a date to her sister's wedding. I loved the sparks that flew between her and Trent, and the tender way he treated her as they let down their guards. Such a great story and clean too!

I loved the epilogue at the end that wrapped up the couple's story with a pretty bow.

She hesitated a moment then slipped her arm through his. "Just remember, I lead, you follow."
"Okay, but when we're dancing at the wedding, I lead, you follow."
She sighed dramatically. "I guess I can agree to that."
He chuckled. "See? I have a feeling this the beginning of a beautiful fake relationship."
She worried her bottom lip as they walked toward the kitchen together. "I'm sure glad one of us feels that way."

WEDDING DATE FOR HIRE by Jennifer Shirk is a predictable, but quite enjoyable contemporary romance. It is the second book in the author's Anyone But You series, but it can easily be enjoyed as a standalone. For those who have read FIANCE BY FATE, this book features Sabrina's friend, Maddie McCarthy, from that book as the heroine with newcomer Trent Montgomery as the hero. I have not read the first book, but I did not feel that affected my enjoyment of this story.

As the story begins, we learn that Maddie's sister's wedding is just around the corner and Maddie is the maid of honor. Maddie is going through a rough period, having just lost her job and her boyfriend. Even worse, her cheating ex-boyfriend, a true cad, will be the best man at the wedding. Maddie's family believes that their first-born daughters are cursed and cannot hold on to a man. Maddie would like to dispel the curse, not have her sister worry about Maddie's love life at her wedding and show her ex that she's not mourning his loss. So... she hires Match Made Easy to set her up with an attractive, attentive date for the wedding festivities. She's dismayed to discover that her hired date is Trent Montgomery - a high school football star who Maddie crushed over in high school - but who paid her back by making her life miserable.

Trent no longer plays football due to an injury. When he quit playing, his fiance walked out on him and his parents gave him the cold shoulder. Only his cousin, Kennedy, stood by him. So... when Kennedy started her Match Made Easy business, he stepped up to the plate to finance her endeavor. Now he needs the money to pay back a loan he'd taken out on the three gyms that he owns. Kennedy approaches Trent with a deal he can't refuse. She has a lucrative potential contract - but no escort. IF he agrees to play escort with a woman who needs a date for her sister's wedding festivities, she can pay Trent back his seed money. What a shock to find out that the woman is Fattie Maddie from high school.

This was a sweet clean romance. There's some kissing and sparks galore, but no hanky panky. I enjoyed watching both the hero and heroine move on from their high school issues and learn to trust each other.

This is the first book I've read by Jennifer Shirk, but I don't plan on it being the last. I loved the epilogue at the end that wrapped up the couple's story with a pretty bow. I would recommend WEDDING DATE FOR HIRE to anyone who enjoys entertaining contemporary romances.

This is such a well done, funny book about Maddie McCarthy, a girl known as "Fatty Maddie" back in high school, a girl who had some really embarrassing things happen, like a prom "date" that never materialized, even after she bought the dress. Oh, and he was the star of the football team and all-around jerk.

Fast forward 12 years and Maddie is still apparently cursed by the WD-40 effect (you know, where men just slip away). She's lost her boyfriend and then her job. Oh, and her younger sister has found the man of her dreams and maid of honor Maddie won't even have a date for the wedding.

After some snide remarks about the curse by a cousin, Maddie blurts out that she's been dating a wonderful hunky guy and she's bringing him to the wedding. Now all she needs is to dig up a wonderful, hunky guy to pretend to be her wedding date for a five-day affair at her sister's future in-laws' estate.

Maddie can't believe she's sunk so low as to have to use a dating service, but, hey, she's single, 30, jobless and living at home with her mom, so what's one more humiliation? She arranges with the dating service owner, Kennedy, to meet her date at a local gym. And who's the guy? Ack, it's Trent Montgomery, high school football star and former tormentor, who is actually Kennedy's cousin and not really an escort. And unbeknownst to Maddie, Trent very reluctantly agreed to help his cousin out at the last minute and take the client to her sister's wedding.

Once he sees cute little Maddie and doesn't even recognize her from high school, he's not too reluctant anymore. She's blonde and curvy and looking very kissable -- and absolutely horrified at the idea that he's to be her date. What the heck? He's not used to girls being even a little uninterested, let alone horrified to be seen with him.

So now he's the one doing the begging, cause Maddie remembers him very well and says she'd rather not have a date at all than go with him to the wedding. But of course she doesn't really mean that and since he's her only option, they agree to go ahead with the plan. Trent cringes when Maddie reminds him of all the awful things he and his friends did in school and assures her that he's not an immature jerk anymore.

As they spend time together before the wedding festivities, a definite sizzle starts to develop, but could Maddie ever see Trent as anything but a hired date?

Maddie McCarthy is jobless, single and feels like there is a dark cloud hanging over her head. Her family has her believing in a old family wives tale that she is cursed in the romance department, and that she will she find forever with someone, which makes it hard for her to have any faith in love or relationships. With her sister's upcoming wedding she is in desperate need of a date, she figures if she has a date her family will refrain from harassing her about the family curse, but with no boyfriend in the horizon, she is losing hope. She needs to find a man quick, so when she sees an advertisement for a escort service, she thinks this may work out perfectly for her..the only problem is the man that comes to save the day is a sworn enemy from her past.

Trent Montgomery has found himself in quite the predicament, his cousin needs his help with her escort business, she is down a escort and needs him to fill in, he isn't too thrilled about the job, but figures he can handle it just this one time. But when he shows up to meet his client he is unexpectedly reunited from someone from his past, a girl he remembers as fatty Maddie. Only Maddie isn't quite so fat now, she is now a beautiful young woman, and oh so tempting...

This was my first time reading a book by this author, and I have to admit that I really enjoyed it, it captured my attention right from the start, and me flying right through the pages. I loved the heated banter between Maddie and Trent, they had me laughing and cheering them on the whole way through.This is a series I definitely plan on revisiting!! If you like a good enemies to lovers story with lots of fun and feisty banter this is the perfect read for you! Guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and provide you with lots of laughs!!

It really wasn't her fault. I mean, what's a girl to do when she's about to be the poor pitiful old maid of honor at her baby sister's wedding, and her lousy cheating ex-boyfriend is gonna be the best man? Of course, Maddie wants her sister's wedding day to be perfect, but how can it possibly be perfect for the bride if the whole darned family is feeling sorry for her poor out-of-work, out-of-luck big sister?

See? She had to do it. She had to hire a drop-dead gorgeous escort for all of the wedding activities, and surely a company called Match Made Easy would made things... well, easy...for her, right? Not so much. One look at her supposed date has Maddie ready to scrap the whole deal, because he's none other than the Adonis she had a crush on in high school, when he was a self-centered football star, and she was... UGH!...fatty Maddie, the butt of jokes. But they end up moving forward, and he agrees to be an adoring boyfriend for the whole week of the wedding. It's gonna be the best fake relationship ever...

The trouble is, the fake relationship may be leading to real feelings.

Once again, a shot of Shirk is just what the romance doctor ordered. It's a sweet story, part funny, and part frustrating. ARRRGH! All those misconceptions and misunderstandings! As always, Shirk provides an enjoyable journey to an even more enjoyable HEA.

I give this book four and a half very satisfied stars.

Wedding date for higher by Jennifer shark reminds me of the movie Wedding Date with actress Debra Messing. This storyline was even sweeter than the movie because he was someone she knew in high school. I am a fan of books by Jennifer shirk. So I was excited to read wedding date for hire. You cannot help but fall in love with her Maddie and everything she's dealing with.There were some very cute scenes between Maddie and Trent and them getting to know each other again. Admittedly, I thought the curse was silly. The relationship between Maddie and her sister and mom was enjoyable.
Jennifer created sizzling chemistry between the characters without any sex scenes. I loved his reactions when she would walk out in her dresses for events during the wedding weekend.
I recommend Wedding Date for Hire if you enjoy a funny, sweet romance with great chemistry.

I fell in love with this book. A sweet, clean and funny romance. Maddie needs a date for her sister's wedding. She feels that she has the "curse" in the romance department, so she turns to Match Made Easy for an escort. Her escort turns out to be her old high school crush, Trent. Trent is only helping is cousin out for escort service. There is a sizzling chemistry between Maddie and Trent, but Maddie believes it is just part of the service. Now Trent has to prove to Maddie that it is the real thing.

This is the second book in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. This book will have you laughing out loud. I highly recommend this for a fun clean romance. I was provided this book by netgalley for an honest review.

Nowhere to go but up? Wedding Date For Hire is my first novel by Jennifer Shirk. It was worth the wait. Maddie has been experiencing a spell of bad luck recently. She's lost her job moved in with her mother and found out her sister is getting married. What does she do? Hire a dating service to find her a date for the wedding.
Let the hi-jinks begin. With any other writer the story could have come across absurd but Ms. Shirk took desperation and turned it into an enchanting read. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. A dating service, mistaken identity and romance. Need I say more.

Nothing feels worse than being single in a family that expects you to be single your whole life. Maddie McCarthy has had a “curse” on her since before she could remember. WD-40 is its name and it’s supposed to basically repel any chance of a relationship for those who have been cursed with it. Her family doesn’t let her forget her relationship states… ever. With reminders at every corner, she cannot bear the thought of going to her younger sister’s wedding, single, as her bridesmaid, alongside her nasty cousin Veronica. All the factors are not in her favour which calls for desperate measures. Maddie calls the number for Match Made Easy after seeing it in a magazine and needs a quick matchup after having lied and made up a fake boyfriend. So she hires one for the entirety of the wedding festivities.

Little does she know that the man she is being matched with is not one she could have ever expected. Trent is a successful man looking for some extra cash to help hold up his business. Doing his cousin a favour, he subs in for Match Made Easy and agrees to play his part in this new charade. The one problem other than him really not wanting to do this, is that he hates weddings. Another problem? Maddie is gorgeous and he’s in for a lot of trouble. Before they know it, they’re swept up into the busyness of the wedding and have no time to second guess their decisions, but nothing can stop these two from falling for their act as the hours pass.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

OH BOY.

So I love anything with that arranged marriage or hired/fake relationship storyline. I know, I know, it’s so far fetched. BUT IF WE CAN READ ABOUT CHRISTIAN GREY DOING ALL OF WHAT HE DOES TO ANASTASIA, I’M PRETTY SURE WE CAN ACCEPT THIS.

I thought this book was a pretty decent one to pick up. It was fun and funny which I don’t see enough of in Romance (which is actually so disappointing because everyone always says that one of the first things they look for in a partner is a good sense of humor). Maddie was not obnoxious or frustrating, and Trent wasn’t an arrogant pain in my ass. Louise was such a sweet sister, and VERONICA NEEDED. TO. GO.

I did not like this whole curse thing that was going on. I mean I get it and I liked the part it played overall, but this poor girl has a man on her arm and her family is still mentioning it. These girls live in fear that the next man that walks into their lives is going to make a U-turn and forget she ever existed. It’s gone down the family, so now it’s their turn? No way. Louise was already beating the odds and as soon as we met Trent we all knew that Maddie was going to soon realize that this curse was nothing but a load of shit.

Veronica was such a nasty character. She was making digs at Maddie the entire story and I just wanted someone to take her face tape it all up so she couldn’t speak anymore. Jealousy does a lot to a person, clearly.

Trent and Maddie had an equal amount of relationship issues that lead to their fear of getting into something serious again. Maddie was cheated on, Trent’s college football fame and potential was taken advantage of (there are some stupid and reckless people on this planet, let me tell you), neither of them have a great track record. But I enjoyed that it was not Trent, or just Maddie that had these problems, but both of them. It just made for a great opportunity for them to grow as characters together and see how good they could be together. How good a stable, healthy relationship could be at all actually.

Trent respects Maddie more than he ever admits in this book. You can totally tell though. The minute he recognizes where he knows her from he knows he fucked up in high school. Maddie was a bit heavier in those days, and himself and his friends didn’t let her live it down. She hated him, but also had a crush on him.

High school crushes are the worst.

He apologized again and again, he told her that she had every right to hate him and not trust him, but that he wasn’t the same guy and she needed to give him the chance to prove that to her. And he does. Trent knows what it’s like to have what he wants, but he isn’t the type of character to flaunt it like most do when they come from money. Despite having a shitty family situation, he still comes out with respect towards people and a successful, promising future. He has his life handled pretty well from my perspective.

Maddie is not as fortunate. Her stupid boyfriend cheats on her, bad mouths her to their boss (they worked together at a restaurant), and gets her fired. So now she’s single, heartbroken, and unemployed. BUT THIS GUY GETS ANOTHER GIRL AND HE KEEPS HIS JOB? Nice. Stand up guy. This just adds fuel to the “curse” fire and makes matters far worse for Maddie. So it’s safe to say that she’s closer to the opposite end of the spectrum Trent is on. So when she gets tired of the constant nagging of how single she is and “when are you going to put yourself out there?” questions, she spits out a lie before she can think it through. This is where Trent officially comes in. Who knew that they’d end up balancing and complimenting each other so effortlessly.

I liked how Maddie was able to give Trent a proper chance at redeeming himself. She did make a few digs here and there – rightfully so. She was humiliated in high school, she can get away with a few blows to his ego. But she let herself enjoy the fake relationship, and genuinely had a good time with him. It wasn’t until other people started putting ideas in her head, that she began doubting him. It was just a decent book in my opinion. Aside from their exes, I enjoyed following along with every character.

This book was flirty and fun, and a wonderful read. The story was fun and gave you all those wonderful tingling feelings you love to love. The main characters are believable and fun, with a plausible back story and a sweet romance. You really find yourself cheering them on as they find their way to true love. Side characters fill in the wedding, and some seem to have their own stories I'm sure have or will be written. A perfect book for a long soak in the tub. Definitely would recommend this one.

This was a fun read! Maddie's life has gotten desperate; in an attempt to save face at her sister's wedding (and get a little sweet revenge on her ex-boyfriend who is the groom's best man), she hires a date. And she gets Trent, who just happened to humiliate her in high school (just when things couldn't get worse...). But Trent has changed a lot since high school and he's determined to prove it to her.

Content: Clean - some innuendo, mild swearing

Another hilarious romance from Jennifer Shirk! Thank you for the advanced reader copy. A real pleasure to read. It had heart, humor, and best of all--it was CLEAN. A rarity.
Maddie hires a date for her sister's wedding to save face, but the only man available happens to be a former crush from high school who treated her like a jerk back then.
