Isaku Natsume (native name: 夏目イサク) is a Japanese author of Boys' Love manga. Aside from the manga published with publishing companies, she also runs two Dōjin circles: 139 and Chekera. List of all her works (detailed) : http://infbot.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/...
The only downside I have for this series is that it's been 10 years and we have only 6 volumes to speak of. Natsume-san has mentioned quite a few times that she releases this series at a leisurely pace, but I feel deprived. I shall keep being a loyal fan till we get to the end.
*Reread 2/13/2022* Onoe with the stitch ears is still so cute. I love Onoe when he's being unintentionally soft and cute.
*Original Review 6/30/2020* These two make me so giddy!!! Just the rivalry and the cute blushing moments it's all so cute. And Onoe is so PRECIOUS. Him and his stitch ears!!! SO CUTE. Then we get Kasai who's kind of annoying, but he adds just the right amount of drama, but Kabu and Onoe have a mutual trust that doesn't get ruined by Kasai which I'm so happy about. Like I hate when shit happens and the characters don't communicate. Anyway! I love these two.
It’s been a year since Onoe and Kaburagi got together and now they are getting to mentor someone new Kasai. Onoe is excited about it while Kaburagi isn’t thrilled, but that changes when Kasai tells Onoe that they are rivals and he plans to take Kaburagi away from him. And almost demeans him by saying he gets most of his work from Kaburagi. Because of this jealousy starts to set in for Onoe and I was expecting to change his relationship for it was starting to become the center of the storyline but it didn’t really effect things much. I also liked that Kaburagi started seeing how Kasai would pretend to like Onoe. Which also shows their struggle with communication but is better in this because it does not go far as long. Even though they struggle with communicating they hold so much trust in each other. I also loved the short stories at the end, the vacation to Disney and the crossover was so funny. Overall, loved this sequel and it’s great to see their communication to start getting better.
4/5 ko-fi • Instagram • TikTok I just love Onoe and Kabu. They have such an interesting relationship. What I really like is that they can keep their relationship and their work life separate. There is still a lot of growth needed between the characters; however, with each manga introduced they are growing into wonderful individuals both apart and together.
In this installment of the series we definitely see more of Kabu's protective side and his nurturing nature towards Onoe, especially when a new employee starts to work at the company. With Onoe we still see his need to prove himself with is work but he doesn't realize that he doesn't always need to go above and beyond. It's always interesting seeing these interact and how their relationship flows.
3.5/5 Though we have a new obnoxious character named Kasai, I think that Onoe and Kaburagi’s relationship has somehow become healthier than the previous volumes. They talk things through instead of just letting things go, leading to unnecessary miscommunication.
Onoe and Kasai are rivals but the younger man constantly says he prays Onoe’s work and wants to live up to the expectations. Later on we find out why he’s being kind of an asshole and since Onoe forgives him, we do too as the audience.
Anyway, I kinda like Kaburagi being a bit jealous and the faces he makes are hilarious. Their sex scenes are improving and we get a glimpse of them actually caring for each other –it’s not just sex and that’s cute.
I’m glad my friend and I continued with the series. Hope we can read the next volume soon!
The drama was high in this volume but thankfully it wasn’t relationship drama, it was more Onoe getting competitive and leading himself into ridiculous situations drama. Therefore- I LOVED IT.
In this volume Onoe and Kaburagi have been working together ( and dating) a whole year. When a new colleague- Kasai- is hired, the editor in chief decides to spilt Onoe and Kabu up, and put Kabu with Kasai. Which was fine with Onoe until Kasai declared himself Onoe’s rival. He apparently knew him from his old job and has a bit of a vendetta against Onoe. This of course sets the plot up and what an entertaining plot it was .
Firstly, I love their relationship growth. They continue to bicker at each other but it’s adorable and they care so much for each other.
Secondly, the plot was hilarious. Onoe really knows how to attract trouble.
Thirdly, I loved the extras at the end. Their trip to Disney Land was so cute!!
This was stupidly adorable. The extras at the end were fantastic - a crossover with Natsume's Tight-Rope, which I don't think is out in English publication, sadly, and a super cute comic about Onoe and Kaburagi finally getting a weekend to relax. Onoe drags them to Tokyo Disney and insists on wearing a Stitch ears headband the entire time, which is just...hard to explain how ultra cute it is. I love the bit where Kaburagi bursts out laughing at him and Onoe's inner realization is that he doesn't remember the first time he saw Kaburagi laugh like that, because he laughs all the time with him now. Friggin adorable.
They've been dating for a year at the start of this volume, and this whole thing is absolute proof that stories do not have to get boring once a couple's firmly together. This time around, we get the trope of a new "rival" in the office, trying to pry the two of them apart, but it really doesn't work for a second. There isn't a single blip of jealousy, in terms of Onoe thinking that Kaburagi would give up on their relationship; any insecurities he's having are entirely centered around the need to do his job better so the new guy, Kasai, doesn't snag all the good scoops from him.
Kasai could be super unlikable, but it turns out yet again that while Kaburagi doesn't have a whole lot of patience for him (or his thinly veiled dislike for Onoe), it's Onoe at the end of the day who befriends the guy and finds out what his true motivations are. (There are some interesting thoughts here about toxic workplaces and what your coworker and manager dynamics should be like.)
Onoe and Kaburagi are absolutely head over heels for each other, and it is such a delight to see them in more domestic settings, working through issues in their daily lives but always knowing they'll be there for each other when they're tired and need someone to talk to, or to simply fall asleep holding.
Actual story this time. Sounds like this is not gonna be a super long series or anything so I'll keep going. There were some extra comics in the back including a crossover with a different story. (presumably same author?) Anyway those character designs were cute so I might look for that too
Another adorable volume. Was concerned at first about the development of a jealousy plot, but it didn't play out how I anticipated at all. The ship continues to be super cute.
Earnest reporter Onoe and poker-faced cynical photographer Kaburagi are a year into a loving and joyfully bickering relationship. When Kasai, a new recruit joins the office and is assigned under the guidance of Onoe, the latter is thrilled to be a senpai (mentor). But Kasai had lost many scoops previously to Onoe and has decided to treat Onoe as a rival. Soon Kasai craftily figures out that most of the sensational scoops delivered by the Onoe-Kaburagi team were largely due to Kabu’s extensive contacts and no-holds barred style and he decides to irk the already fretful Onoe one step further by declaring that he will go after Kabu and take him away from Onoe.
I truly enjoy how each volume in this series shows a small but very essential growth in the relationship dynamics between Onoe and Kabu. Shorn of silly drama and facile plot tropes, the series always has a taut yet tender grip on the love between the MLs and makes it a point to stay true to Onoe’s rose-coloured view of the world and Kabu’s grittier outlook on people and their mechanizations. Throwing in a third-wheel was obviously meant to shake this adorable love-boat but yet again, the author resolves the conflict in an endearing yet mature fashion.
I can assuredly say that Onoe and Kaburagi are one of my favourite BL couples. I enjoy their bantering camaraderie, their non-toxic affection for each other, the tiny bits of smut that never seem forced and the manner in which they shield each other without diminishing each other’s core personalities.
Another great volume! (I just wish I could find it in print! What's up with these BL manga being so hard to come by?!)
The plot was, as usual, entertaining and fun to read. I liked the addition of Kasai to the stake-out team and I sincerely hope he is utilized to bring even more drama to their relationship in the future. I didn't like how he was treating Onoe but when he said he was going to make Kaburagi his I almost lost it! 🤭😅 Onoe didn't tell Kaburagi exactly what was going on but it just goes to show how perceptive Kaburagi is because it didn't take him long to figure out that something was wrong.
Throughout it all he showed complete loyalty to Onoe and the way he talked to Kasai at the end about not getting Onoe caught up in anymore of his screw-ups showed just how worried he was about him when he was with the Kenyu Group due to Kasai's bad decisions.
I'm glad there are more volumes to read because Onoe and Kaburagi are one of my favorite couples. Also, thanks to this series I can't wait to check out some of the creator's other works. I love this series and obviously recommend it.
I absolutely adore these characters! How close they are, even though they both hate admitting it. I love their banter, how it's not lovey dovey, but feels genuine. I love the tender moments, the art of them just holding each other in sleep, and the steamy sexy times. Ooh la la. This story follows a rival trying to oust Onoe after feeling overshadowed by Onoe is their previous job. Again, we deal with jealousy and miscommunication, but our two boys at least don't let it get so far as in the previous book. The level of trust they have for each other, you can just feel it in their interactions. Stubborn and loveable. It kills me there's only one more book after this one. I don't want it to end! These two are my new favorite couple to follow!
Onoe and Kabu have been dating for a year now in this buddy journalist Japan romp. There were some cute domestic moments, but the book was short on those.
A new character, Kasai is a new reporter in the pool and he has been partnered with Kabu. At first Onoe like being a senpai until Kasai declares they are rivals and he feels like he isn't as good as the new guy. Kabu and Onoe hardly spend any time together. It's sort of frustrating.
The show only had material from Vol 1-2 so this is all new for me. This had good drama and it was well done. I'm looking forward to the next volume. I'm ready for them to move in together already.
This! Volume! Introduces! A new rival!! For Kaburagi! (Oh poor Kaburagi lololol)
I love seeing the two of them slowly grow into loving each other more, and now a new employee has declared he's gonna be Kaburagi's #1 writer. Of course, Kaburagi doesn't go along with it, and he's seriously missing his Onoe. There's cuddling, yakuza, and a special bonus story of the two going on a date to a theme park!
So much to love in this volume, and I will need to re-read soon to get my loving dose of Onoe.
Exceptional visual and narrative storytelling marks the third volume of this series. Both the visual pacing and visual characterization are remarkable; line-work, texture, tone effects, composition and chibi forms are masterfully integrated, with one reinforcing the other without missing a beat. As good as the technical and artistic aspects of this volume are, the combination of humor and drama, which are mixed into the ongoing storyline, are thoroughly entertaining.
This one is a jewel, and I’m looking forward to volume 4.
This volume was a whirlwind of emotions, filled with intense highs and lows. One of my favorite moments was when Onoe, in a hilarious twist, gets all flustered and irritated as the new coworker Kasai boldly challenges him like his enemy, claiming that he would win over Onoe's partner. The tension and humor in that scene were simply perfect! I can't get enough of Onoe and Kaburagi and their dynamic interactions—each twist and turn make the story even more exciting. And I just love them being lovey-dovey."
There are just so cute!!!! I mean this time around they couldn't really work together because of a new person. That new person was trying to get in-between them because of something in the past with that one guy. But it was so sweet when that other guy had his back in a way. But I do agree having a relationship is hard work when you don't get to see each other all the time. However this two make it work. I love the little Vaca they had. Can't wait to read more...
Again I am blown away by how good this story is! Somehow this manga volume made me appreciate the love triangle trope which is something that I just dislike if it's not done right! But this WAS!! I really love the growth in the relationship as well but they both fall back to the core of bickering with each other! Truly their own love language!
I love this story and this couple. The artwork is also very nice. The story is so fresh and easy to read and you really believe on this couple. And the sex is good but not taking over the story. Highly recommend this serie
