When Duck finds a good book, he tells all of his animal friends to come and see it. They all doubt that Duck can read. But, when he shows them the book, they believe that they can read too! This small paperback book is a 6" x 9" format (rather than Shannon's regular 9" x 11" format) David Shannon created this book especially for Scholastic to distribute so as to encourage the sale of his numerous other children's books. Consequently, there was only one printing of this book with a limited number of copies printed, resulting in greater collectability.
Duck tells the other barnyard animals about his new book.
While this book is obvious plug for A Duck on a Bike, the varied reactions of the other animals afford young readers the opportunity to reflect on their own thoughts about books and reading.
This 8 page book was created by Shannon for Scholastic to help promote his other books. Cute little story about duck reading his new book to the other animals.
Duck and a Book is a good book for children that are learning how to read. The book has about six pages. It tells a story about a duck going to the cow, the dog and the horse and telling them that he had a new book. When he reads the book to them, they all believe that they can read too. I like the color in the book and also the big pictures. This book will defenitly catch the eyes of a four or five year old. The story is not hard to understand and the pictures are big enough for a nursery to see them and understand the story. What I didn't like about the book is that it has a short storyline and not a lot of pictures. I would not recommend this book becouse it is not that good of a story and it is simply too short for a bedtime story.
This is a really cute 6 page book about duck sharing with his friends about his new book. He brings them all together and reads the books to them. The book is another real book called duck on a bike. I would not really gives this to my students to read because it is not a full story, but its still cute how excited they are about reading.
I enjoyed reading with book with students because it talks to them about learning to love reading and reading is something to get excited about. I enjoyed the illustrations and have always enjoyed reading books by David Shannon.
This book is super short! Duck goes up to animals and invites them to come hear him read his new book. They all did and liked it. This encouraged them to want to read themselves. Great moral behind the story.
This is a short fun book. Duck finds a book they like and tell their other farm yard animals about it. The other animals are excited because they didn't think duck could read! So they all follow him to the barn to share in the excitement.
