Simon Ovronnaz, l'ami de Largo, vedette d'un feuilleton télé ! Sa photo à la une des magazines "people" ! Pour l'intéressé, il y a de quoi bomber le torse et se pavaner. Pour Largo, il y a de quoi se poser des questions. Un scénario insipide, un casting douteux, un budget hors norme et un financement plus que louche, ce feuilleton sent l'arnaque à plein nez. Direction San Francisco, lieu du tournage. Sous les sunlights, Simon fait la roue. Dans les coulisses, Largo mène l'enquête. Action !

Narrative:
It's very exciting reading with detailed intensity in a "chess-match" style battle against Largo's wits with intricate twists BUT Van Hamme took one way too far with the actions of the blonde which, combined with the other shockers, takes the plot's mid-point to unbelievable absurdity.

No way I say. No previous conditioning would make her pass up the best opportunity of her life. Maybe if she didn't say what she said to Largo but she was free enough from mental manipulation to do that so what I mentioned previously just "doesn't wash".

Art:
Francq consistently impresses me by rendering people tremendously and is exacting with all architecture and scenery.

The only problem is the colouring which is TERRIBLE because it frequently doesn't even "hug the lines" and the "toning" is constantly wrong. There is no credit to someone else so if it is his work he must hand it over to a professional. It's AMATEUR and "queers up the whole pitch".
->All that said, it could just be a reproduction issue so I didn't take it out of my rating.

À des moments complètement idiots (Ovronnaz en vedette cinéma) succède une bonne intrigue financière. J'arrive pas à me décider si c'est bon ou insignifiant, disons que c'est presque pas mal.

Не дають тому Ларго Вінчу перепочинку. Знову підстава на засаді і в пастку заганяє, а там кидок, обман, брехня і лохотрон. Цього разу історія про телевізійну студію та виробництво трешового серіалу, завдяки якому відбувається вивід легальних коштів в потенційно нелегальне поле через офшори задля начебто уникнення оподаткування. Продюсер не ділиться інфою про те, хто закидає гроші і кому вони пересилаються, але паралельно ще й займається торгівлею людьми та зйомкою снафф-порно. Коротше, є варіант влетіти на повну програму, тому Ларго та його помічник-суперник Кокрейн летять рішати питання. Але далі все, як в другому реченні цього огляду…

І знову супер-мега-перекручений план поганців. Шляхом купи кроків вони створюють ситуацію, коли двох керівників В-Групп можна легально запроторити за грати. Щоправда, відверто фантастичних елементів та чистого везіння теж трохи є. Та й нюх на підставу цього разу дуже сильно підводить Ларго.

Francq daagt zichzelf uit en laat zich door Van Hamme uitdagen bij zijn tekenwerk voor Largo Winch, zoveel is duidelijk. Op de eerste pagina worden we al getrakteerd op een gedetailleerde weergave van de Golden Gate Bridge terwijl we verder in het album Largo als een soort Blueberry te paard in de woestijn zien een poging wagen om op een rijdende trein te springen. Elke pagina is om in te lijsten. Wat een vakmanschap.
Het verhaal blijft de typische mix van economische troubles/spectaculaire actie/vrouwelijke schoonheden,...
Er zit een artikel bij dat ik uit P-Magazine heb gehaald, een interview met Francq. Op één van de bladzijden staat er een paginagrote reclame voor discotheek Zillion. Nostalgie… 😉 Andere zaken zijn dan weer nog steeds brandend actueel. Zo zien we bijvoorbeeld Joodse straaljagers een nederzetting in Zuid-Libanon bombarderen met tientalen onschuldige slachtoffers (voornamelijk vrouwen en kinderen) als gevolg.
