*Spoilers*

Protect Me, the 6th book in The Donovan Family series and the 3rd one I have read was pretty good but I liked the other two better. I felt this book was much slower then the other two books I read and there wasn't as much action. Although I never got bored I wish it would have flowed a little bit better. I like Mia a lot. Finn on the other hand didn't really wow me. He was just there. I guess standing next to yummy twin cops with sexy, protective, alpha personalities like Connor from book 4 and Quinn from book 2 Finn kinda fell flat. It also didn't help that it took him a little over 3 months to figure out that walking away from Mia was the biggest mistake of his life. I was glad that Mia was a strong female lead. She didn't take crap from no one and she handed out the sass. I loved that when Finn came back she didn't just throw herself into his arms and let him off the hook but made him work for it. I loved the parts with Rose and Pete! Overall an entertaining read, but Quinn's my favorite.

She was given an offer she couldn’t refuse, not if she wanted to make detective on the Chicago police force. At first it seemed like babysitting, being an undercover protector of a fluffy, no-substance movie star, but Mia knows she is a capable officer, in spite of what her older brothers, of the Donovan family of law enforcement officers think. What the beautiful and very competent Mia found was Finn, a down-to-earth, caring hunk of gorgeousness whose stardom has been tarnished by an old scandal.

Finn has been receiving threats and they are escalating, someone wants him or wants him dead. He just happens to be the superintendent’s Godson. With both her hopes and reputation on the line and under the microscope, Mia is determined to keep her assignment alive, even if he can be his own worst enemy. But did she have to play his elbow dressing to do it? Did she have to move in with him? Did he have to give off those sexy vibes?

As the threat to Finn escalates, so does the “non-romance” and Mia finds herself caught between duty and libido, which was bad enough, but then her heart got involved. This three week assignment just became three weeks of a total eclipse of her heart, especially when Finn unveils his true self and not the personae his fans see.

Brilliant dialogue, attitude and chemistry on steroids, Margaret Watson’s Protect Me is a beautiful twist on the whole big, bad, alpha protector thing as one amazing woman with beauty and brains takes on an unknown stalker to save the hot actor who may have stolen her heart.
Ms. Watson has done a remarkable job of telling a tale with humor, heart and heat!

“He didn’t want to need her. He wanted her. A lot. But he wasn’t interested in forging emotional connections with a woman, not even Mia. Not anymore. Not since Gemma. But all he could think about was Mia. This was not good.”

4 movie stars! Sexy and thrilling!

Mia is on her way up in the police world, getting ready to take her exam to become detective. Her captain offers her a job she’s not sure she wants. She’ll need to be the personal bodyguard for actor Finn O’Rourke, he is shooting a movie in town and he has a stalker who’s getting a little out of hand. She’s unsure she wants to do with but when her captain tells her it will look good on her record, she gives in. Finn ends up being more than the stuck up actor she swore he was. He’s much sweeter and sexier than she anticipated. But as her feelings grow so do the stalker's threats. Can she keep him safe? Can she keep her heart safe?

Ugh, what can I say….Finn, Finn, Finn! He’s sexy, sweet and definitely worth the risk. I love that Mia, is put in the protector role in the book. It’s refreshing. I really loved this book, I was hooked the minute I started reading it! Great book, great series.

PROTECT ME checks off the boxes on all my favorite things when it comes to romance: suspense, law enforcement, engaging characters and strong family connections. Ms. Watson is a new-to-me author, but I enjoyed this book and her writing so much that I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Police Officer Mia Donovan is the baby of the family and only girl with four older brothers, all in the business of law enforcement and is determined to get her detective's badge as soon as possible so when the opportunity to boost her profile by acting as bodyguard to a movie star with a stalker problem comes up, she's all for it. But her assignment is very different from what she expected, and the instant chemistry between them is an unwelcome surprise. Mia is nothing but professional and will not give in to the distracting attraction because she has no plans of being busted to patrol if something goes wrong.

Finn O'Rourke is currently the most hated man in America (an exaggeration, I think) and a stalker seems to be in keeping with everything else that has gone wrong in his life since he attained that status, but after being a pariah for the last two years in Hollywood, this movie means a lot to him and he will do whatever is required to ensure that everything goes smoothly, even put up with a bodyguard posing as his girlfriend. The petite dynamo exceeds his expectations and his attraction to her is more than he's ever had with any other woman, but experience has made him very wary, plus this movie is his perfect opportunity to showcase his talent and he won't let anything interfere with that goal.

I really enjoyed these characters so much. Mia is larger than life in a small package, dedicated to her job and very sassy too, and Finn is a genuinely nice man, quite an anomaly in the world he comes from. The chemistry between them is explosive from the very first moment and the suspense was actually very well-done. The entire Donovan family was a really big piece of what I loved about this book, especially their close bond and how they came through for each other all the time.

If the writing here is anything to go by, the rest of the series promises to be just as interesting and I will definitely recommend it to anyone one who loves action and strong family connections with their romance.

Protect Me is book six in the Donovan Family series by Margaret Watson. While studying for her detective exam, Police Officer Mia Donovan's captain told her she had a new job as a bodyguard to look after Finn O'Rourke, who was getting death threats. Police Officer Mia Donovan was not initially interested, but realised it would help her get a promotion. However, Police Officer Mia Donovan realised that Finn O'Rourke was not a selfish man like most actors, but someone whom she could love. The readers of Protect Me will continue to follow Police Officer Mia Donovan and Finn O'Rourke to discover what happens.

Protect Me is part of a new Donovan Family series by Margaret Watson and is the first book I have read of hers. At first, I was not sure if I would enjoy reading this book, but I was wrong. I engaged with the book from the first page, which continued until the end. Protect Me also showed me that you should not take people at face value. This book also showed me the dangers of stalking and its consequences for everyone involved. I love Margaret Watson's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine throughout this book. Protect Me was well-written and researched by Margaret Watson. I like Margaret Watson's description of the settings of Protect Me, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

I recommend this book.

Wow! This may be my favorite book so far in the series! This is Mia Donovan's-the feisty little sister-story. Each book brings us wonderful character development and a deeper look at each lead. For some reason, this one grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I actually called in late to work so I could keep reading.

Mia is assigned to protect actor Finn O'Rourke from a stalker while he is in Chicago for work. She isn't happy about this and tries her best to keep her feelings all above board. The unraveling of layers as characters come forward in a story is always amazing to me. Both Mia and Finn are guarding their hearts. And on the surface, Mia is to protect Finn, but in the end, they open up and protect each other.

The story has everything for a perfect romance: humor, heart felt conversation, s3xual tension, a sassy heroine, smoking hot alpha male with a heart of gold, and of course that moment when both characters realize it's all or nothing. They HAVE to have this person in their lives.

Wonderful read. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. Great to see the Donovan brother's and Mama pop back up in this book. Can't wait for more from this author!

I don't read too many cop books, but at the hint of a female officer posing as a bodyguard, posing as a girlfriend... I couldn't resist!

Margaret kept me on my toes throughout the entire book. I would keep guessing who the stalker would be. At first glance, I did think it was kind of predictable; however, that is not the case! I had to know what happened next! Protect Me is extremely well written, and the characters are complex. Even for an actor

Mia and Finn are something else! Shockingly enough, I was rooting for them since that first kiss. The one that helped them to blend on, on Mia's first day on the job. I could not get them out of my head! Finn is worth all the risk, and then some. What I wouldn't give to be protecting him... ;-)

I am definitely interested in reading more about the Donovan family. They seem intriguing, especially as they're all cops!

Didn’t finish at 22%. It’s fine. I just can’t really get into it and I’m not that invested in the characters or relationship. There’s nothing intriguing or pulling me in compelling me to want to see what will happen. It’s a good set up, but most romance authors are always in such a rush to get the romance going. As is the case with this.

So after like one day the two characters are already lusting after eachother. Which really discredits Mia for me because she’s supposed to be this seasoned, professional cop, but she’s falling over the movie star just like every other woman/fan would. So she doesn’t seem unique or special. And I wish authors could understand that just having the characters say “for some reason this person is different from every other woman/man I’ve met” isn’t enough to make me believe it. Why can’t authors dig a little deeper and take their time developing the characters relationship so that when things like this are said, I can see it for myself and then can actually believe it. I’m sorry but nobody can know if a person is unique or special to them after knowing them for a few hours, especially when the characters are written to be very average. If you are going to have your characters fall in love that fast, you better have your characters really stand out and be really amazing in ways we can see. The dialogue better be incredible between the characters or they better be doing completely unexpected things that really make me see what the big deal would be.

If you don’t mind insta love, this might be an okay read for you. There’s dual point of view so you know what both characters are thinking and feeling about each other at all times, so not much mystery there. They like each other very easily and immediately, so nothing much to overcome or develop in that category. There is the mystery of his stalker so that’s one thing that is propelling the story forward.

The couple: Finn and Mia

Romance trope: bodyguard
Series: The Donovan Family
Length: 329 pages

Plot: Finn is a famous actor whose reputation has taken a hit lately, and now he has a stalker. He's in Chicago to film a new movie and his godfather, who is the police chief, assigns an officer, Mia, to be his bodyguard while he's there. Although they clash in the beginning, their relationship begins to grow even as the danger does too.

Commentary: I probably should have started with book 1 in the series, but the truth is that I don't usually like books with a law enforcement heroine. That was the case here. The story was fine, and in fact, when Mia was not being a cop, I did like her and the story better. When she was in her apartment after Finn left and she was simply a heartbroken woman? I actually cried with her.

Grammar/formatting: Not a fan of the cover. It's weird with the topless couple still in their jeans.

Previous book in the series: Cover Me
Next book in the series: Save Me

Police officer Mia, plans to take the detectives exam. Her father was a cop and her brothers are too except one is in the FBI. Her boss wants her to protect an actor while he is in Chicago.
Finn is an actor and has a stalker who is escalating. He was dating a woman for two years and when they broke up she said she caught him in bed with another woman. This has made fans and Hollywood hate him.
Mia expects a diva but Finn is nothing like she expected. He's real and down to earth. Being together 24\7 brings them closer. Even though Mia is doing her job, she will protect Finn with her life. Can a cop and actor make a relationship work?

Excellent story. Suspense. Sex. Mia is tough and puts up with no bull. Finn may be an actor but he is also caring and kind. There might be some " tearing up " scenes, so keep tissues close.

I liked it

The stalker thing had no suspense and all the action took place off stage. Since that should be the driving action of the book it makes for a dud of a high stakes thriller. Her family was a huge part of the book but until Jamie was mentioned it didn't seem forced or from nowhere. I usually hate when a big cast is introduced because it's clunky. The times they appear feel natural and part of being in a close family. Honestly, the stalker could have been removed entirely and the premise just an overprotective studio and 24/7 babysitting of a Hollywood star and it would have still worked. My biggest gripe is that you guard a body in pairs or a unit of four because people have moments when they are people. Two teams of two so people get down time. Pete as his head of security still works.

There’s never anything about Margaret Watson’s books I don’t love and PROTECT ME is no exception. I’ve come to expect lots of intrigue, excitement, drama, strong emotions, and passion from this series, and Mia’s story does not disappoint. Matching her snark and inner strength against Finn’s deep-seated humor and integrity is the perfect pairing. Their chemistry and the ever-present threat of an unknown stalker added to the possibility that theirs can only be a temporary connection makes this a captivating tale that is sure to keep you turning its pages from start to finish. It’s a compellingly enjoyable and deeply entertaining read that you will find hard to put down.

I was interested to pick this up because it is a actor-body guard romance where the body guard is female.

Mia Donovan wants to pass the detective exam and solve cases as opposed to being a patrol officer. Being in law enforcement is in her family as her brothers are in the police as well. She agrees to be the fake girlfriend and body guard to Finn O'Rourke, the infamous actor after he gets creepy messages from a stalker as a way to stand out in her exam. But they develop an attraction and it becomes hard to remain professional fast. There are comments, looks and kisses.

I didn’t care for that and it felt draggy.

The thriller aspect of the story kept me reading and learning about what an actor's life is like on set was interesting.

Nice story

A stalker is after him and she becomes assigned to his protection. The theme held enough interest.....A cop and a movie star and appearance from several of the Donovans. It did seem a bit unrealistic of the quick physical relationship though.

I RECEIVED THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW FROM THE AUTHOR!

This is my first romance book away from Nora Roberts and Janet Evanovich and I have to say that Ms. Watson is an excellent writer. Without having to read the first five books in this series you immediately are brought up to date with the Donovan clan.

The main character of this book is Mia Donovan, the youngest of the Donovan kids. Mia is assigned to the protective duty to Finn O’Rourke, she doesn’t really want to do this, but her captain changes her mind. She wants to prove that she can do any assignment that was given to her. What I liked about Mia Donovan is that even she is independent. She grew up with big brothers yet she can still take care of herself. She doesn’t want a man to do something that she knows that she can do herself. I also liked how she kept it professional with Finn, throughout the assignment which was living in the same place as him for three weeks and pretending to be a couple. I, even more, liked how she tried her hardest to not let Finn back in once her job was done. I could tell that she was heartbroken when he didn’t follow her out of the hotel room. What I didn’t like was how she didn’t try to fight for him, before he left. She could have tried to make their relationship work despite what they sort of agreed on in the beginning. I also didn’t like how the police chief asked around all the precincts if they had a woman officer that he knew his godson couldn’t resist being with. This was especially terrible after everything that had happened with Finn’s ex-girlfriend.

And then there is, of course, Finn O’Rourke, an actor who didn’t tell his story first in Hollywood about what really happened between his ex-girlfriend and himself. Now he is in Chicago shooting an indie movie to re-establish the image that he wants Hollywood to see him as. What I like about Finn is that he is able to not only keep up with Mia and her personality but is also able to keep her on her toes with his. Another thing that I like about him is that he is truly a gentleman around Mia. He only really shows Mia his true personality, the one that he only lets certain people see. What I don’t like about him is how he thought he needed Hollywood and his image more than he needed to be loved while also having a real relationship in the real world. I really hated how his pride kept him from realizing how much he really messed up with leaving Mia and how long it took him to realize that he actually loved Mia and missed her. He also knew that if he came back that she didn’t want to see him.

Protect Me by Margaret Watson, I am glad that I read this book. I am giving this book five stars as I loved every minute of reading it. The book also kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the stalker person is. I also love with how, even though, it’s part of a series you don’t have to read the other books to know what had happened in those and with what is going to happen in this one. I am glad to have been asked to read and review this book. I am also recommending this book to any of my adult readers of my blog that like contemporary romance that is also wrapped up into a cop book.

Anyways until next time enjoy this book review brought to you by

**3.5 Fiery Hearts!**

*I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Mia wants to make Detective and when a protection job is dangled in front of her, even one she really isn't interested in, she'll accept it in order to better her chances. She may be the baby Donovan sister, but she's just as good as her brothers and she wants to prove it, if to nobody else except herself. She spunky, determined, and quite feisty.

Despite what everyone else says Finn is a good guy. His only focus is to get his career back on track and untangle himself from his ever-growing crazy stalker. He'll need Mia to help him with that...and he'll enjoy every second of her protection.

The chemistry between Finn and Mia has its ups and downs. There's definitely a spark there, well more like an explosion waiting to happen, but between their jobs and the stalker they have several what in the world are y'all doing moments.

"What are we going to do about this, Mia? he murmured.

"Do about what?" She needed a moment to get her brain working again.

"This polite, rational discussion we just had. Jesus, Mia, what do you think?"

"It wasn't real. It was a ruse. A way to hide from the women following us."

"Not real? Really?" He spun her around to face him. "I didn't thing you were a coward, Mia Donovan. Yeah, whatever it was that exploded between us surprised the hell out of me, too. But that...that kiss was as real as it gets."

The storyline in Protect Me is interesting, the stalker adds a little suspense with a side of creepy, and the ever-present Donovan's add that little extra something I've grown to love throughout this series. There is however something that's a little off, maybe it was the ending, or just me, but it wasn't my favorite Donovan Family book.

My Favorite Moment: The first time they had to act like an actual couple in order to hide was more than they bargained for.

"Should I actually kiss you?" he murmured into her ear. "Like I mean it? Or do you want me to nibble at your neck and your ear? Play with you, get you worked up a little, before moving on to the main event?"

I've made it pretty clear that I'm a "judge a book by its cover" type of person. This one wouldn't have garnered a second glance from me based on its cover alone. Instead, I read the description of this one before I ever saw the cover... I was intrigued. Boy, am I glad I read this! It was such a good book!

I mean it when I say it was good. It was so well written, the story line was great, the characters were believable, and the emotions were real. The only complaint I had, and it's not really even a complaint, was that I was definitely caught off-guard by a couple of time-jumps near the end of the book. They were totally necessary, no doubt. They were just unexpected after the whole rest of the story occurring in a three-week period of time. Like I said, not really even a real complaint.

This book was so good, I can't find anything I didn't like or should have been done better or anything really. Let me tell you, Mrs. Watson gets some serious bonus points considering that I didn't find a single formatting issues that's typically associated with eBook formats. I'm pretty sure I didn't even find a single spelling error!

As far as the story itself... wow, just wow! It's rare for contemporary romance to play in my head like a movie when I'm reading. Anything fantasy will almost every time, but contemporary romance, not so much. This one though, I felt like I was watching it on the silver screen, seriously, someone should seriously consider making this book into a screenplay-- as long as they're going to stick to the story!

Just so that you know, this is book number 6 in the series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. Currently, there are eight books total and I plan to read them all...as soon as I catch up my backlog of "to be reviewed" requests!

Protect Me has it all. Solid, sharp storytelling, dynamic, believable characters, sexy romance, thrilling plot, and a close knit family you immediately want to get to know.

Mia Donovan and Finn O'Rourke shine as this book's hero and heroine. Mia is a tough, determined police officer who doesn't let the badge hide her soft femininity, letting the reader know you don't have to sacrifice one for the other. Finn is billed as a typical Hollywood actor, but what Mia finds instead is a man who doesn't believe all the hype and just wants to excel at his craft. She quickly finds herself incapable of resisting his charm, sexy smile, and surprisingly down to earth personality.

There's a perfect balance of romance and suspense as Mia and Finn face off against the increasingly dangerous stalker that's obsessing over Finn while the clock ticks away at their time together before Finn returns to California. Watson builds the suspense nicely, just as she does Mia and Finn's feelings for each other.

I really loved these two together, both characters surprising me with how much I liked them individually and as a couple. There's a nice depth to both of them, enough to make the reader really care about them.

For those that have read the previous books in the series, you'll recognize lots of old faces. But even if you haven't read any of the Donovan Family series (I'm a newbie to the series), no worries as this can easily be read as a standalone. The only danger is you'll immediately want to go out and read the rest of the series.

This is my first Margaret Watson book, but definitely won't be my last.

This was the first book by Margaret Watson I have read and I enjoyed it very much!! This book is for mature readers only due to graphic sex scenes. This book is getting a strong 5 stars from me! I loved the realness of this book. I am loving the Donovan Family and will be devouring the other books in this series soon. You do not have to read the other books to enjoy this story. It worked great as a stand alone!
Mia Donovan is a police officer in Chicago. Hoping to soon make detective, her Captain has asked her to take on a special assignment. She knows if she does this job well it could go far towards helping her in her interview. I absolutely adored Mia. She has spunk and sass that can rival everyone. That is what happens when you grow up with a houseful of brothers and you are the little sister. I loved her family!
Finn O’Rourke is a movie star. His career has been a little down since the big fiasco with his ex a long time ago. Being in Chicago to shoot a new movie is just what he needs to turn things around. Then the notes started showing up. He has a stalker. With his Godfather being the superintendent of Police, he is not going to let harm come to his Godson. A private bodyguard from the police dept is just what he needs. When Finn meets Mia, everything he thought he wanted flies out the window. With Mia posing as his girlfriend to try to draw out the stalker, things definitely get heated.
Follow along with the chaos of all chaos, and be ready to lose your afternoon. This book catches you from the first chapter and does not let you go. Thank you very much Margaret Watson for your wonderful story!! I look forward to the rest!

A copy of this book was kindly Provided By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review. This was my first introduction to the Donovan family of law enforcement officers! With 3 older brothers Mia, being the youngest in the family and a girl wants to make detective. She needs to prove to herself and her brothers she is more than capable to handle the job. When she is given a special assignment by the Superintendent she knows she must take it (like it or not) if she wants to move up from officer to detective. She becomes the body guard to the Superintendent's Godson, who just happens to be one of the most hated actors on the planet to date. She has to take the job, it would make a great impression in her file. I loved the flow of the story line. Since this was my first read in this series, I will now read the previous books to learn about her brothers. Poor Mia has to buck her testosterone brothers who will protect her whether she wants it or not! Being in a family of law enforcement, I fully understand what she is going through! I loved the dialogue between Mia and her "case" the gorgeous Finn. She is snarky and doesn't let anything ruffle her feathers when she is in her righteous mood. AND the banter between her and her brothers is hysterical. Mia can hold her own. The closeness of her family is not overlooked here either. Love the character of Mia's mother Rose and the side story there. All in all, I am thankful the author asked me to read and review this book. Now I am hooked!

In Protect Me, actor Finn O'Rourke needs protection from a stalker. Officer Mia Donovan is assigned to his case. At first she seems skeptical of him, believing the rumors that his ex-girlfriend spread that she caught him cheating. As she spends more time with him and gets to know him, she begins to doubt the rumors and start to see Finn for the person he is.

Both Mia and Finn were great characters. On one hand Mia is sweet and surrounded by people who love her, and on the other hand she's hard and determined when it comes to her job. She's not afraid to jump into danger if it means keeping Finn safe. Finn is somewhat lonely. He's not close to his family, so he can't really understand how close Mia is to hers, and he doesn't seem to have any other friends than his driver, Pete. He's often questioning the motives of the people around him, most of whom just want to use him for something. Mia is one of the first people who looks past his fame to truly see who he was.

There's plenty of mystery and action as they try to figure out the clues as to who the stalker was. We get to catch up with the rest of the Donovan's again, which was a treat. It was nice to once again see how close they are, and how they're willing to drop everything to help one another out.

This is a great story and I highly recommend it.
