New York Times best-selling author Jim Dent is publishing an eBook on Amazon.com titled "My All American" to coincide with the release of the movie by the same name. My All American is the true inspirational story of University of Texas football safety Freddie Steinmark, who played the entire 1969 national championship season unaware of bone cancer in his left leg. Steinmark endured great pain while starting all ten games for the Longhorns. Not until doctors X-rayed the leg following the season finale, known as the "Big Shootout" against the University of Arkansas was it discovered that his cancerous tumor had devoured more than an inch of his thighbone, also called the femur. Steinmark remains a symbol of courage for all of college football. Texas players still touch his photo as they run onto the field before each game. The movie "My All American" is based on Dent's book titled Courage Beyond the Game that was published in 2011 by St. Martin's Press. This will be Dent's second movie following the ESPN release of "The Junction Boys" in 2002.
