Shane Remington has it all. He has a great family. He’s built his guest ranch into a great business. He’s a good-looking guy and he knows it. Everyone loves him. He may not have a woman, but that’s okay, he can have any woman he wants—and usually does. There is one woman who seems impervious to his charms though, and for some reason it bothers him.
Cassidy Lane has it all, too. She’s a talented artist, who has made it commercially. She’s successful in her work and in her life. Whatever she wants, she makes it happen. She came to Montana for a new adventure and it’s working out perfectly. The one thing she doesn’t want—or need—is a man.
Shane Remington may be annoyingly attractive, but Cassidy knows he can’t handle her. Guys like him want a small, sweet woman to feed their ego—not a strong smart woman like her to challenge it.
There’s no denying the attraction between them, but will it be enough to bring together a woman who doesn’t want anyone and a guy who wants everyone?
This book is intended for adult readers aged 18+ *************************************** Each Remington Ranch Romance can be read as a standalone. No cliffhangers here! Each book contains one couple's story. Book 1: Mason Book 2: Shane Look out for the other brothers, who will each get their own book Carter Beau
Hi, I'm SJ. A coffee addict, lover of chocolate and drinker of good red wines. I'm a lost soul and a hopeless romantic. Reading and writing are necessary parts of who I am. Though perhaps not as necessary as coffee! I can drink coffee without writing, but I can't write without coffee.
I grew up loving romance novels, my first boyfriends were book boyfriends, but life intervened, as it tends to do, and I wandered down the paths of non fiction for many years. My life changed completely a couple of years ago and I returned to Romance to find my escape.
I write 'Sweet N Steamy' stories because to me there is enough angst and darkness in real life. My favorite romances are happy escapes with a focus on fun, friendships and happily-ever-afters, just like the ones I write.
These days I live in beautiful Montana, the last best place. If I'm not reading or writing you'll find me just down the road in the park - Yellowstone. I have deer, eagles and the occasional bear for company, and I like it that way :0)
I'm a pretty big fan of SJ McCoy, and I liked Shane. I'm not a huge fan of angsty stories, so these sweet and steamy romances are appealing to me. It's refreshing to read a romance that isn't filled with characters flying off with worry and jealousy and fear over nothing but the fact they don't talk to each other.
Shane and Cassidy's problems are mostly that they are both strong characters who don't trust themselves to be ready for the 'real thing' when it comes to a relationship. They have a few small bumps that don't materialize into anything worse because - novel idea - they step over their pride and talk things out.
That being said, I almost felt like there wasn't enough conflict in this story. Much of the worry comes in the form of getting set up for Carter's book, and I don't know - is it contradictory to say I don't like angst, but then be disappointed when there isn't enough conflict?
Shane's story is a good read, and worth the time, but I just came away feeling a little let down - not a lot let down, just a tiny bit. After all, conflict drives a story - and good sex scenes paired with a series of small hurdles doesn't quite do as much for me as battling one powerfully strong external conflict.
I liked the first book about Mason and Gina, but it wasn't excellent so I gave it four stars. I'm giving this one five because I didn't want to put it down. The story and romance is sexy and fun. I'm enjoying the characters. This one featured a lot of Carter setting up the next book. My review is short because I hate typing on my Kindle, but the book is worth it. The descriptions and details are improving and this installment was a little more surprising than the first. The only thing I found slightly annoying was the heavy repetition of their theme, "I like that you're a strong and smart woman. My ego is fine." It seemed like their actions were enough to show they got each other without constantly needing the words. Having said that, I can't wait to read the next one.
I love this series the author really letsyou know the charters and grow with them i fell in love with each the brothers this book and look forward to reading the last two books
This book reads similar to the first book in the series. There are spacing, formatting, grammar and word choice errors.
The characters are full of themselves. The main male character spends time thinking about having sex with other women to get over the main female characters rejection. No matter how much she rejects him he keeps coming back for more. In her internal thoughts she really wants him. The reasons for her rejecting him are shallow.
I didn’t like how the main male character treated the female side character he kept going back to. He strung her along as a rebound side relationship for years. He was with her, then would go and be with another woman for a while, and come back to her. But couldnt ever come clean to her that she wasnt more than sex to him.
The side story of his brother and the famous singer wasnt handled right and seemed to be there to cause drama. It filled up pages and served no real purpose.
Comfortable in his own skin, Shane may be the baby of his family, but he is fully confident in his prowess and good looks. Cassidy is just as confident, however, she has previously paid the price for being who she is and is unwilling to allow any man to negate her talent and ability as an artist. Initially Shane and Cassidy play a game of one-upmanship until their interaction becomes real. Unfortunately, there is more than one fly in the ointment and attempts to sever their connection abound. The attraction sizzled between Cassidy and Shane from the opening chapters and I enjoyed seeing how their interaction changed from jockeying for top position to becoming two people who respected and needed each other. This is a warm and lighthearted romance, and whilst it is part of a series, it is a standalone and can be read as such.
Shane by S.J. McCoy is a fantastic western romance. Ms. McCoy has delivered a well-written book populated with outstanding characters. Cassidy is an artist that leaves the east to move west to the mountains. Shane wants to go out with Cassidy but she's not having it. Cassidy and Shane's story is packed with drama, humor, spice and a touch of suspense. I enjoyed reading Shane and look forward to reading more from S.J. McCoy in the future. Shane is book 2 of the Remington Ranch Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
If you're looking for a loving story you can't get better than this series
Shane is the fun loving son at the ranch. He's also drawn to all the ladies. And with running the Dude ranch he has had his chances too. But then he meets his match and she gives him as much trouble as he gives back! This is the third or fourth time of reading this series I just love SJ McCoy books I know that she is writing more but sometimes it's nice to go back to the beginning and this time I'm reading them via her recommend order. Happy Reading!
Once again I was pulled into this book right from chapter one. I absolutely loved it. Its not often I read books in the same series after each other, but I pleased I did with this one. I am really loving these cowboys and their stories. I am so looking forward to reading the rest of this series. I found SJ McCoys books by chance and I am so pleased that I did. I recommend this series.
Shane is an easy-going type of guy. He is also a "skirt chaser." He cannot see a skirt + not chase it. He is also very loyal to his family. If you need him, he will be there. Cassidy only saw the "Skirt Chaser" side of Shane. Eventually as she got to know Shane, she found out Shane has a serious side as well. Will Cassidy let go of her prejudice + give Shane a chance ? I loved the cat + mouse chase.
Shane is attracted to Cassidy from the first time he sees her, but she’s not interested. I loved how she got him to model naked for her art class, that his mom was a member of, lol. When they finally get together, Katie, one of Shane’s former lovers, isn’t happy. Katie will try everything to break them up. Will she succeed? Grab your copy and fall in love with the youngest Remington brother. I can’t wait to read Carter’s story next.
This book takes on Shane and Cassidy's story. As I read the first book in the series, this was a pickup of the Sparks and bantering from book one. They both think they are not into commitment, but they fed the perfect match in each other. Takes them both a little soul searching to figure things out. But once they do, they fast forward to a perfect HEA!
Great characters, great storyline and setting up for the next book in the series.
Shane is an arrogant, self-centered bachelor. Cassidy is a strong self-motivated artist with a strong sense of what she wants, and it is not Shane. The sparks that fly keep the story moving and creates some fun scenes. I received this free for an honest review.
It was a cute book. I gave it three stars because WOW what a B. She was all full of herself and treated him terribly. He should have R U N away from her.
I do like a strong heroine but strong not over the top. She was over the top. This book spent a ton of time expressing how over the top she was too. So three stars.
I did like Shane. Cassidy however ruined the book.
I started reading this series with the Summer Lake box set books 1-3)..... After I finished I kept readingthrough the series... Each story is its own standalone HEA, but then they ALL blend together and go SO well together. I've read through them all-(not just this series!), you will do the same!! I CANNOT wait for SJ's next book!!!
I got about two-thirds of the way through this and I just could not finish it. The story was not thrilling to me and I thought that the main girl was kind of annoying and our main guy was very egotistical.
A story of two strong people who are more alike than they think. Shane and Cassidy find themselves trying to get the upper hand, but it seems to work in both their favors! If they could just put Katie in her place!
And I love love cassidy and Shane together even more!!! He never thought the perfect one would come along but so glad they both realized it! Looking forwarded to more on them!!!
This book was fine I guess. I mean it was ok and kind of predictable.... also not as good as the first book, but it did make me want to read about the next brother. Unfortunately I'm not willing to pay $3.99 for it.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Two such strong and independent characters like Shane and Cassidy falling in love keep the reader interested. The art class scene and the way it came about is very clever.
The second book in the Remington Ranch series is fantastic. I love the characters and the story. I can't wait to read the next book about Carter and Summer.
Really enjoyed this story and looking forward to reading more books in this series as well as others by this author. McCoy writes characters that the reader wants to root for and addresses common human failings. The universe she has created here is one that most readers would love to be a part of.
Another fun installment of the series. I enjoyed getting to know Cassidy and Shane and seeing them take a few leaps together, and I also enjoyed the blossoming working relationship with Cassidy and Gina.
I loved Shane. So far he is my favorite brother. He’s sassy and hilarious. The family is great. I love the Remington’s and now I’m curious about the parents story as well. Can’t wait to find out about the rest of the brothers
This book about Mason's youngest brother Shane was not as good as the 1st book. Ummmm, didn't really like Cassidy, Shane's love interest. I am looking forward to reading the next book about Carter and Summer.
I'm really enjoying this series and the Remington brothers. I loved Shane and Cassidy's story and all the characters. A very captivating read. I look forward to more books in the series.
