Dark, disturbing, and nuanced - this one is exceptionally satisfying. Although I'm not normally a mf fan anymore this works for the series - because of the content. The three books in the collection let you explore a whole gamut of feelings - and it leaves you a bit shredded much like the tributes.
The core of these are as much scifi as smut or romance - so know that going in. It's there - but the plot and story take the front seat. All of the things done to the tributes to prepare them are equally abhorrent and arousing. The whole book lives in that dichotomy - the classic cannot take your eyes from the train wreck scenario. I most enjoyed the second book - because the connection amongst the two MC's was strongest and because of the alpha/alpha feeling. That's a dynamic I adore above all others.
I'm being deliberately vague to not give away too much story - suffice to say the writing is superb and it keeps you enthralled and engaged until the end. I read all three B2B in one day - and enjoyed every twisted minute. Highly recommended if you like dark tales!

It is alien smut. These are short stories and not for everyone. The first is m-m, but the rest are a mix of m-m and m-f. The storyline of Kari and Aled sort of dies, which is a large part of my frustration with these books. They’re the whole first book and then, almost nothing. And we switch over to a different couple that I have no investment in and kind of don’t care anything for.
The alien story is okay and I liked that it had a sci-fi bent. It just didn’t come together in a meaningful way.

Book 1: Sacrifice
WARNING !!! TRIGGER !!! WOW, truly WOW !
I want to give this a negative 5* but other than it being "rape" adjacent, it's not such a bad story. This review is hard to write. Love the authors writing style. It was a well written, compelling story that grabs the readers attention right from the start. ( ya either scream and throw your e-reader across the room ) or remember, Kate Pearce wrote it, and struggle through the (scream and throw your e-reader across the room) parts and realize KP has a wonderful and a little bit crazy mind.
Remember I warned you :P
Book 2: Retribution

This is a continue of book 1 and not really as intense... but still...
I want to give this a negative 5* but other than it being "rape" adjacent, it's not such a bad story. This review is hard to write. Love the authors writing style. It was a well written, compelling story that grabs the readers attention right from the start. ( ya either scream and throw your e-reader across the room ) or remember, Kate Pearce wrote it, and struggle through the (scream and throw your e-reader across the room) parts and realize KP has a wonderful and a little bit crazy mind.

Book 3: Triumph
OK. So, this is a wild and crazy ride.
1) this is listed as 3 books ...but actually part 3... all books need to be read to get the story. Which , in it's entirety, is a good story.
2). KP. is a wonderful writer that get's your heart pumping. Makes ya want to fight for love and defend it in whatever form or color it's made of.
3). Karma is a truly amazing character.

Honestly, meh. The first one, pretty good. Compelling plotline, pretty decent romance, more or less. Same for the second. The third really fizzled out for me. It had the potential to be good, but focused too much on Anna and not enough on Aled. It just wasn’t balanced enough.

Sacrifice, tribute #1 (r Aug 13/16)
Hunger Games-esque, with it’s own unique twist. Brutal, yet a love story, of sorts, comes out of the brutality. Just enough back story. Definitely not your average romance. I liked Sacrifice. Looking forward to reading Retribution and Triumph.

Aled and Kai are a great couple. Watching them both survive was amazing. Ends on a cliffhanger.

Not as good as books 1 and 2. I did enjoy seeing Anna come into her own, becoming even stronger. And Aled is changed too, more confident, and knows what Kai needs. There are definitely loose ends left. I wonder if there will be more Tribute books.

Plenty of drama and suspense. Be prepared this is a bit of a dark read and not for everyone. Lots of HOT sex, some nonconsensual sex and violence as well. The stories are fast paced and I was hooked from beginning to end. Great read!

Ugh, I skimmed through the entire series. It was boring and overall, just a smut fest. Do not recommend unless you love reading kinky and many times violent and disturbing sex scenes over and over and over.
