In April 1940 Hitler's forces invaded Denmark. The occupation came as a complete shock to the Danes, but when the stunned population recovered, they lost no time in shaping themselves into a defiant Resistance Movement. As the war progressed and German terrorism intensified, the Danes suffered cruelly: prisoners were murdered and their bodies thrown into the streets; men and women were shot down in their homes or tortured diabolically by the Gestapo. And with every outrage, the will and spirit of the Resistance was strengthened...
