Rate this book
Robin Starling traces a pistol that arrived in her mail to a recently murdered man who had been cheating on his wife. The police like the wife for the crime. The D.A. likes Robin as an accessory-after-the-fact. Robin, though she feels sympathy for the widow and her young son, likes running with her dog and hanging out with her teddy-bear boyfriend, but she is a young attorney in need of work. The case promises to be the case of her career right up to the moment when everything goes ballistic.

I won a Kindle download of this mystery through the Kindle Scout program. I downloaded it yesterday and stayed up past my usual bed time reading it. The dialogue and character development were excellent. I wished for a bit more explanation of a few plot points, but when a mystery keeps you from sleep, it is a good one.

Humorous, easy read.

Enough action and suspense, but from the beginning it was obvious who was the killer. Will make a good daytime soap opera. Only character I really like was Deacon.

This is the first book in this series that I've read. I really enjoyed it. I have another one in my TBR queue that I want to read right away.

The story moves along at a good pace, and the characters were, well, characters. They all had unique personalities and not your standard fare. I'd like to be in a courtroom when Robin was presenting her cases. It would be a blast. Every once in a while, one of the characters would say something that made me laugh at its outrageousness. And you have to love Deacon, the dog. Yeah, pup. Way to go.

I love the Robin Starling Mysteries. I haven't read them in order, but that doesn't seem to matter too much. Her cases, of course, always run into big problems and each time the reader wonders "how in the world will she get out of this?"
I hope to read the entire series. I definitely got 5 stars worth of entertainment from this book.
PS: Does anyone else notice that is a thumb dog on the cover of the book? That cracks me up!!!! BTW, a thumb dog is a dog's head and neck you draw by placing the side of your thumb on paper and simply tracing it. I learned it in like first grade.

A really interesting book.

This book exited me. A detective/legal story with a diff setting, semi-normal characters, and no gratuitous sex. I will look for more by this author.

Decent story

Story is decent. Im more into mystery thrillers. This is just a simple mystery with minimal action. Seemed more like a cosy mystery. Not what I had expected.

Interesting

Good characters. While some actions and outcomes are predictable, you are not sure (at least I wasn't). Very good plot, I recommend you read this one.

I thought it was pretty good. Received a free e-copy through the Kindle Scout program after nominating book that was selected for publication. Attorney, Robin Starling and her seat of the pants antics and luck helped her solve the case and keep her out of jail. I enjoyed the premise and story and will read another Robin Starling mystery.
