We met under the New York skyline.

None of it was real, but for a split second, it seemed to be.

He was kind to me.

Too kind.

I knew he was hiding a secret—I just didn’t know what.

When I found out, New York fell away from me.

Every warm smile and softly spoken word seemed to hurl me back to reality.

I remembered that I was in the Devil’s Den.

What I didn’t know was that monsters lurked in the city of angels.

And it wouldn’t be long before I found out exactly who those monsters were.

☆☆☆ 3 "Annoying Virgin Goes Crazy" Stars ☆☆☆

I am going to start off saying I have loved this author's other books. This cover captivated me. I knew this was going to be crazy because that's how Miss Olson rolls and I like it!!!

That being said.....

 photo tumblr_inline_na971xkRm21rjabbw_zpsmi1gfnqa.gif

Naive virgin Neve works for a porn production company and hates it. Meets sexy, boy Arsen at the porn set.

Neve and Arsen connect instantly. She's annoying and Arsen is patient and sweetest of the sweet. Then Neve figures out he is a PORN BOY.

 photo tumblr_m2c9psE8Df1qzbl7f_zpsdodnhxp7.gif

This insta relationship evolves in 3 days. Ok, great I can deal.

They continue in a cute relationship and then......... boom it is 6 weeks later. She is avoiding Arsen because of his jealousy. Ummmmm, ok.

Then she gets offered $50k to star in a roll with Arsen. She accepts because she is "Curious "........Duh Miss Virgin....but whatever, go star in your film.

 photo Really_seriously_WHAT_zpspmdjopni.gif

Come to find out, the film is a black market slasher film. What??? What happened to the pornos?

Our naive little virgin turns murderer???

I just don't get this story at all.

To sum things up....
1☆ because I like this author
1☆ because the start of this book had potential
1☆ because the crazy twist rocked if it had made sense in this story.

Well where to start about this book. I seriously think that Yolanda has one sick and twisted mind, every book she has written just gets more mind twistingly brilliant.

Your happily reading this book when bam it it's you, a seriously twistedly dark mind boggling turn.
Neve is a young woman that moved from New York to start a new life in search of the dream job, she is set up by her cousin in a job that will certainly push her boundaries.

Meeting Arsen on the set of her job, she tries not to fall, and fall she does, little does she know where this relationship will take her.

Her first starring role that she is offered will take her places that she never even dreamed about going.

This is one twisted, dark read and will take you to another level where you never dreamed of going, like Neve.

In my opinion Yolanda has done it again, she has surprised me with this read, and her books are getting darker and darker.

I'll look forward to see what she comes up with next.

I don’t know where to start with reviewing this!
It was such a flawed book that took on an almost comical dark ending. So whilst on one hand it was an awful read, I’ve also got to admire the author for taking it in the direction it did. It wasn’t helped by the amount of grammatical errors and bad editing. The characters weren’t likeable in the slightest. Nothing they did made any sense, nor did it reflect how anyone in the real world acts. In particular I couldn’t stand addiesynne or however the name is spelt in this book..(even the names annoyed me to some
Degree..arsen?!) she was totally childish.
I don’t understand how neve and arsen’s relationship progressed so fast, and come on, was she really that naive that she didn’t have a clue what he might have done for a living? Other little things that irked me: the entire book neve relies on taxis, buses and other people for rides, then suddenly she has a car to take Addie to the airport.
Why didn’t Addie tell neve she had returned to California to work with her ex boss, new boss and boyfriend on a side project? Surely if they’re that close she would be wanting to meet up?
Lastly, the book kinda jumps from arsen staying the night to neve hasn’t seen anyone in six weeks, didn’t bother to start her new job or even see arsen again with no explanation as to what the hell happened there.
It’s an absolute laugh this book and not entirely for the right reasons as I suspect it may genuinely have tried to be a dark read.

Don't be fooled this is no happy ending! 💜

Oh my sweet baby Jesus. I grabbed this book, it's one of the few I hadn't read yet by this author. This book is about a girl who gets a job. Then finds out it's a porno filming studio. She hates it but is determined to stick it out. But then she gets fired. Thankfully the guy that fired her, hooked her up with a great job. Or is it? Seriously I was waiting for the other shoe to drop in this book. Usually this authors books are horror. You know slicing and dicing. Don't get me wrong this is a great book. And the end! Let's say this author didn't go "romantic happy ending" on us. Don't worry you'll get the horror soon enough. Seriously grab this book. Very good.

"I had never smoked before...I took one and inhaled.
I was different now. I was going to become an entirely new Neve Grace Dutton..."

Name in lights, fame and fortune, a bright career is the promise naive Neve puts her faith in. Newly qualified her cousin manages to secure her work as a production assistant but Neve jumps before she looks and lands in something she ever thought she would be part of. Filming adult movies was never part of the plan, stuck in a job that makes her feel dirty in her own skin, the xxx rated industry is no place for a woman who values her virginity. Neve struggles with the curve ball life has thrown her and yet someone on set has he re evaluating the Turk her life has taken.

Arsen is intrigued by the shy but beautiful new woman on set. Taking the time to woo her and show her around her new surroundings he has a secret he hopes she never finds out...

And in kicks the brilliantly twisted and slightly skewed mind of Yolanda. For almost 90% of the book I thought I had picked up a well written contemporary romance; a story of young love, vastly differing morals and opposing ideals that pulled them sort but would ultimately be conquered by true love. Nope! This is a Yolanda Olson novel and the world title on its axis as once again everything you think you know is a lie and the reality is so more brutal and shocking. Blood will be shed and there is definitely no happily ever after and that is why this is a perfect mind warping dark and gritty read. A pure pleasure to read as I'm a huge fan and throughout I felt sick knowing something big and deadly was lurking, hidden in between the lines. I was not disappointed. Awe struck. I love the dark places I am dragged into, kicking and screaming every time I lose myself in one of this author's books - ok I go willingly you'd be insane not to!

A five star wtf have I just read type of book...did I mention that!?!?

Alright I'll keep this short, sweet and spoiler free. I cannot stand young lovey dovey romance, its totally cheesy and unrealistic! Thank Gawd this little Gem was waaaay outta the norm! Absolutely surpassed my level of unpredictability, I did NOT see that coming.

The beginning was fabulously witty and I giggled through most of it, the Author has a way of describing each character so well you connect with each one and relate to their lifestyles. Also you had me at "Baby Doll" my absolute favorite swoon worthy nicknames.

Now I think its safe to say I freaking hated miss goody two shoes, shy, touch me not, Neve Dutton, but by the end of this shocking tale I fell completely in love with her.

I wanted to give this crazy, twisted dark read a 5 star but as I said it did tend to ramble on about the young, starry eyed romance crap for a ways. All in all thank you Yolanda Olson and HOW DARE YOU, I shall NOT forgive you easily. xo

What the hell did I just read? This is so not what I was expecting. I need more of an explanation of what the hell is going on. What the hell is wrong with Neve? I would like to know if this shit was based on true events? I'm floored after reading this. This story brought me back to a time in college when there was a guy on campus that I saw at the university center and I'm thinking he is very cute and my friend said not that one. He doesn't even go to this school and the girl he is with is one of his like wives and they come to this school to recruit people to be in their "colony" (is what they called it) where he just impregnates girls. At that point I was thinking are you fu--I got serious? Which is what I am thinking about this book. With all that being said it was an excellent read that I couldn't put down, missed a damn telephone interview to finish.

Agony is a must read book. If you are a fan of Yolanda Olsons writing then you'll love this dark-ish read. I'm not writing a whole lot because it's not out yet but I will say it's a MUST READ BOOK!! More to come on release day ;-)

Merged review:

A Dark Must Read. I loved it!

Yolanda Olson knows how to grab your attention and keep it 100% till the very end. I love how things may look normal and then......it is not normal.

Neve Dutton is working in the last place she thought she'd ever be working. Surrounded by cameras and a life she doesn't want to be part of. She goes through her day just to get to the end.

She makes new friends, who aren't what the seem.

That's all I'm writing because you all need to read this book. The ending is a twist that you won't see coming. If you know Yolanda's writing then you know you won't be disappointed.

Highly recommended.

I received this in exchange for an honest review.

Neve has a job most would cringe at and so she does. She works for Devil's Den and while it is very uncomfortable for her, she sticks by it. That is until she is fired and lands in the hands of one Hollywood's hottest directors.

She meets Arsen who charms his way into her life. Though things go slow, it isn't until a horrible turn of events has her rethinking whether or not she should be in front of the camera.
Without giving away any spoilers, Yolanda Olson by far surprised me with her ending. This is a great story and can only say you'd have to read it to know what I mean.
This was my first time reading Yolanda's work and look forward to picking up another one of her books.

Wow! This was intense! I love Yolanda Olson’s writing and was expecting a dark, gritty read, but the grand finale of this story really got me, and only very few times it has happened before. Brilliant!
It starts off very innocent though, with a young girl Neve, who’s just out of college and is struggling with her first job as a director’s assistant. On the set she meets a guy who has all the prerequisites to be “the one,” only even a seemingly perfect guy has his skeletons in the closet, some of which can sure be deadly… I won’t give away the plot not to ruin it for you, but read the story – I promise you won’t regret it! Dark, haunting and ending with a bang – a perfect combination. Five huge stars.

Agony, that's the feeling I'm often left with after reading Yolanda. I love this author, she's brilliant. Yolanda takes me out of my comfort zone and messes with my mind leaving my brain exhausted. This is a story that does a major about face toward the end leaving you with a 'what the heck just happened' moment. If you're expecting a HEA moment, don't hold your breath. I recommend you grab this book when it's released, it's a must read.

I received this ARC from the author for an honest review.

Yolanda never ceases to amaze me with the insane thoughts running through her brain.
Neve tries to make the best of a crummy situation. Working for a porn company wasn't her first choice. When she meets Arsen, she thinks things might turn around.
No matter what she does, though, nothing will ever be good.
Bringing gritty and raw images, Yolanda grabs you from the word go and sweeps you into this crazy world of the grittier side of Hollywood. Amazing and fearsome, grab this one and hold on tight!

This story took the words right out of my mouth, I was gobsmacked!!

I love how Yolanda Olson always has me guessing as to what will be next in her books. I knew something was going to happen in agony...I just knew it. There is always something with her books. You are reading right along and then BAMB! Something happens that normally shocks the hell out of me. I loved this book! Yolanda knows how to spin a good story that keeps me on the edge of my seat waiting for something to happen every single time. A definite FIVE stars for me!

How does she do it???

Again this author doesn't disappoint. She can take any story and turn it dark, like all the worst nightmares we have. Just pick up one of her books, and enter another dream turn bad.

Oh my god! I am so so so mad at myself!!!

I was warned that this book was no good, but decided to give it a try anyway, I mean, I had read "inferno" by the same author, And it was damn dark and good. But boy was this far from that book..

Through out the whole book, I was either doing this,

Or doing this

Spoiler alert!

At end of the day you guys, I could point out so many things I did not like about this book, but that would take forever, so just save yourselves the money and time, it is not worth it, I am very disappointed and honestly I'm not sure if I want to read another book from Yolanda Olson, that's how bad I hated this book.

*I received an unedited ARC copy of agony in exchange for an honest review* It isn't very often that I write a raw review. But Yolanda Olson's writing elicited this response and I can't go to bed without doing this now. HOLY (EXPLETIVE). I was warned numerous times - the synopsis even comes with a warning label. AND I have been following Yolanda Olson for months on the dirty F word social media site, so I know a little about her sinister ways. Originally I fell in love with her personality, after reading (my first of) her works, I would lick her face (she might punch me, but I would lick her face and covet the bruise her fist left). All random, lovey silliness aside. agony is an all around well written book. Mind you, I read an unedited ARC version, I am boring and persnickety and editing bothers me. Not this time. I was too busy falling in love with the characters, following the story and waiting for the YO Moment - as I have dubbed it - to shine through. At one point I thought she was messing with me, it read so well and waaay too much like an HEA for me to even fathom the outcome. I am now a new one-click reader with zero hesitation. In fact, I am off to purchase all of her books right meow! ^^^This is why I don't review raw.

Do what????

I will say I love Yolanda's dark books but this one......I don't have a clue what happened. The last 4 or so chapters were short and clipped. But what was worse is how its missing 10 chapters in between. One minute I am reading about Neve having a great new job (that she has not started yet) and having feelings for Arsen the next instant weeks or months go by and I was lost trying to figure out what the hell happened. Only to be even more confused how she went into a killing spree then agreeing to continue killing. Do what?????? And what is worse is that 80% or more of this book waz NOT DARK by any means.

I haven't given 2 stars or less in over 3 years and yet I hate to do it. I really pondered to send an email to Amazon to make sure I had *ALL* of the book and I didn't have half missing. But after foing back and reading some reviews its apparent that I am not the only one that was left with the question of WTH.

Payback done in a bloody beautiful way

Oh my sweetness - I know to expect the unexpected with this queen’s stories. But this one has taken the crown as being my number 1 favorite by her (so far).

Neve is this sweet young woman who is saving herself until she finds “the one” and kind of down on her luck finding a job. That is, until her cousin got her job…granted it is for NSFW films. This sweet and, somewhat, naive young woman meets Arson. One thing leads to another and that’s where this story starts twisting and turning.

I cannot say how much I loved how Yolanda wrote this - it starts off sweet and innocent and then takes a turn into a darkness personified. Seeing Neve’s character evolve the way she did was something that had me squealing with happiness and gasping in shock. This author wrote a perfect story that covers the meaning of female rage and I loved every single word.

A good late nite read

What can i say..
In this book i had an idea where it was going about 5 or 6 chapter's in, it wasn't until chapter 9 that i figured it out all out about neve's cousin

This were a good read and also reminded me these things do happen!! im glad it twisted around from the normal outcome of the ending of these situations, you will understand me when you read the book i dont want to give anything away

The only bad thing i can say is afew words i had to re read an add my own word in to make it sound rite an afew typing errors but over all Yolanda has done another great job

🖤This is not a romance book! 🖤
I definitely needed to give my head a little shake before writing this review.
One thing I love about Yolanda’s books is you never know what going to happen. The twist in the book was insane! Even right to the last few pages I wasn’t sure which way it was going. I was so pleased with how it ended, Neve got her revenge and I’m petty so I would of thought of Jessica too😂! Another incredible book thank you!

Also if you need a trigger warning list…. This isn’t the book for you 🖤

I never read the blurb for this book I just dived right in because I knew I was going to like it. Several chapters in I had to look and make sure I was reading a Yolanda Olson book because it seemed to nice and romantic. Then out of nowhere Boom!!! once again this author messed with my head!

The most childish, annoying, insecure and judgmental FMC I’ve ever read! I despise her! 😒
Arsen could have done 10x better with how sweet and patient he was.

Yes killing her cousin in the end was wrong and the scene at the end was so random into the book lmao! This was a drag!

When I first started reading this book. I thought to myself being new this author, this must be a lighter side to her writing.
But how wrong was I, when it changes at about 90%. And even though I knew where it was going, it still didn't repair me for that ending.. ..OMG!!!!

I'm in love with this woman's writing, I seriously can't get enough of it.

I'm now off to see what I can read next and I can't wait!!!
