This was fast paced and had some super sexy scenes but was mainly about Bailey’s path to allowing someone back in her life and embracing her submissive side.
Bailey and her friend ran a BDSM club and she had a rule of no touching her. Her husband died and since than no one is allowed into her world. Everyone is kept at arms length. Bailey is feisty, stubborn, independent as all get up, quick tempered and afraid. she is afraid of herself, of losing someone else and to love. When her friend is in trouble she is thrust into a dangerous world without even knowing it. Now her life is in jeopardy and she doesn’t want to listen to those trying to keep her safe. Mainly because Zephyr makes her feel. Feel something for him, makes her want to submit and she is a Domme. A domme who doesn’t want to let someone in. So instead of actually listening she continues to run. When she does finally let her guard down she misconstrues something and runs putting herself in more danger. It is Zephyr who continues to find her and keep her safe.
Zephhyr is great. He is smart, kind and strong. He can be intimidating as well. when Bailey enters his world he feels like he has found someone. After Misa that is really needed. Misa is a nutcase and what she does in this book is really whacko yacko and dot….
I love how Zephyr takes control but also how he knows Bailey and what she will do. He understands her. He is a good guy. Also a sexy Dom and when he gets bailey to submit oh my oh my.
The plot with the danger element is good and well written. The characters drive the plot with their actions and emotions. Especially Bailey she is emotionally driven. The love story is a give and take push and pull but entertaining. Zephyr is awesome and patient with Bailey.
This is a sexy dangerous and fun story about Bailey finding her way through grief and accepting who she is. About Bailey and Zephyr finding their way to each other and Zephyr finds love and helps solve some mystery of police corruption, murder, etc. This is the story of Zephyr moving on and finding someone who fits into his lifestyle and who he trusts. This is the entertaining fast paced of Bailey and Zephyr who are put together at first because of the danger Bailey is in and than later because they love each other and this is their story.

3.5 "What a Switch" Stars
This book was just a little above average for me. Here is what all I loved. First the love of all service members and wounded warriors! That was off the charts for me! Zephyr's security company and how he took care of veterans of all circumstances was amazing. At one point in the story, someone thanks Bailey for her service and she says...
Ok, it takes someone who understands the military family to write that. So Ms. Godchild, I thank you immensely for that quote. That, made me cry. That, stole my heart. And because of that quote, I am sorry for the rest of my review.
I like Zephyr & Bailey separately. However, together, I am just not sure. I didn't feel them as a forever end all type couple. I liked that this story was about an older woman that is almost 50. Not your run of the mill, 20yr old virgin. I also think everything wrapped up just a little too neatly for me.
But because of the love of service members and the realism of that along with the creativity of taking a stab out on something a little different. Hell Yeah, I would read that again.

Your fellow may be the one who wears the uniform, or wore it, but a soldier's loved ones serve with them. They move with them. Suffer with them. Struggle with them. Lose with them and win with them. So yes, I thank you both very much for your service." He tipped his hat.

December 22, 2015Bailey is stuck in place, she goes through the motions of daily life following a routine. If she wasn't dealing with enough pain her best friend end up dead. She is broken until Zephyr comes to her rescue. She hasn't let a man touch her in two years but at his touch she can't seem to say no. It's captivating, alluring, and it can lead to her downfall.
Zephyr doesn't trust women since his ex proved that love means nothing. He never expected to let another woman in, especially one like Bailey. She is beautiful, kind, sweet, confident, and highly opinionated. He adores all the arguments and how she isn't afraid to try to put him in his place, but it only makes him want to do the same to her in the bedroom. She is his perfect match, now he has to make her believe it.
This was a very cute story. I really loved how the characters just seemed to get each other and knew that they were it. I loved the connection they had with each other, and the story was really unique and elaborate. I felt like a few details could have been better explained like specifically why the Russians were after her. I also felt that given Bailey's job and personal life prior to the story that she would have fought with Zephyr for dominance, but on the other hand he could have just been so amazing that even one of the most confident Dommie's submitted. I also really liked how the author connected Zephyr's and Bailey's past, so when the connection was revealed they could build on that. Overall it was a really sweet, romantic book about second chances.

Degrees of Being Boss is a sexy age gap romance that is full of heat and suspense. This is the first book that I've read by this author but it won't be the last. I found the story to be easy to follow and it kept my attention from start to finish. The story dealt with death and grief so it was emotional in places, but it was balanced very well with the romance and suspense storylines, so you were left feeling happy.
Zephyr has recently got out of a relationship where he was betrayed by his ex, so he's in no rush to get involved again. But when he ends up rescuing Bailey from a Russian hit man he can't help being drawn into the attractive widow's life. Bailey lost her husband two years ago, and now her best friend has been brutally murdered. While Zephyr helps her to stay safe from the murderers, the couple grow closer. But they are both strong dominants - so who will end up being the boss?
It was great to read an age gap story where the heroine was significantly older than the hero rather than the other way around. Zephyr was in his early thirties and Bailey was in her late forties, but it actually worked and their relationship felt realistic. I really liked both characters, especially Bailey, it made a nice change to have a strong heroine who showed that you can still be sexy and have fun once you're past your twenties and thirties. I really enjoyed this book so it definitely gets five fabulous stars!

This is my first Ryaven Godchild book and I can see myself reading more of Rayven’s books in the future.
There is an age gap between Zephyr and Bailey but throughout this entire book it never really bothered me that he was younger than her. Its only mention a handful of times but because there is so much else going on its not in the front of your mind.
Bailey is stuck in life and just going through the motions and she has been for the last 2 years since losing her husband. As if that wasn’t enough she must now endure the death of her best friend. Zephyr comes to her rescue in more ways than one. Not only saving her life more than once (shes very stubborn) but also showing her theres more to life than just existing.

Well, this was a bit of a surprise. I saw the cover and immediately said "yep, I'll review that" LOL cuz I love my smut, add BDSM and we're talking nirvana! So when this opened with a missing bestie and murder I was floored...and totally pleased since I was expecting smut and got an actual storyline! Zephyr...yeah... yummo. I'd love to come across him some night in a dark alley! It almost reads as though we're immersed in a series, but you're not missing things, the backstory is told as the actual story is being told. Yes, it's not all about the sex...actually there is very little about the sex. It's mostly all story with a little bdsm referencing.
Zephyr and Bailey of course fall for each other...and quickly, but it's the right time for them both to finally give in. While it's a relatively short story there is always something going on. You're not left with a lot of fluff...just a lot of action.
And the end? You have Dom coming up against Domme. Who wins? Read and find out!

That was Bailey after finding out her best friend is in grave danger.... even worse, DEAD. With only one call to a stranger her life takes a turn. She is no longer, Mistress Boss but The Hunted.
Zephyr, answers, saves, dominate, and kill for the pissed off lady who want answers. What he wasn't expecting was to live again after death knocked on his door and heartache bulldozed his existence.
This was a good book that required total submission in form of trust and understanding in a mission to bring justice and peace to a broken woman. Her fight was gone but with the help of a young trained worrior (wounds and all), Bailey was able to let go of her past control and submit to the will of her future. This is my first Rayven book but I would love to see what happens to the supporting characters in this book. She is now on my radar.

I was asked by the author to read an ARC and I was very happy to do so. I quickly became ingrossed in the story and fell in love with Zephyr as the story progressed. Loved the action along with the amazing love scenes. Loved how Zephyr took what he learned in the Miltary and started a business employing other veterans.

A really fun, sexy read! I was very intrigued with the idea of two doms facing off and seeing how that worked out. Had an intriguing plot that I didn't expect - international crime rings and such. Bailey is in her forties and Zephyr his late twenties, so I love that it's the woman who robs the cradle this time! Be prepared to get hot and bothered reading this one - it's steamy!
