Rate this book
Buried beneath the streets in the holy city of Jerusalem, American tourist Siobhan McLane discovers an ancient inscription hidden for a thousand years. But the past will not give up its secrets easily. Before translation can even begin, terrorists want her dead and she finds herself framed for murder. With a disgraced former government agent as her only ally, Siobhan will have to confront her own past and discover the truth about the history of the Middle East. Peace in the most volatile region on earth hinges on a thousand-year-old lie, but she’ll need all her knowledge and all her courage to survive and warn the world. “A taut and captivating story with religious and political overtones, one that matches a feisty heroine with an ancient secret … Tightly woven and compelling, moving the action forward at a brisk pace … The dialogue here is particularly solid, sounding realistic and still readable … scenes come alive.” — Judge, 5th Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published eBook Awards.

Siobhan McLane was an Archeology student who had her Thesis stolen by her advisor and is now now longer welcome at her school or any other due to the machinations for the advisor. Working as a lowly secretary at a small church she gets a chance to join a church trip to Israel and manages to get on a one dig at a site in Jerusalem. It is actually where her stolen thesis suggested would be found evidence of Mohamed's travel in the night and the site of his ascension. When the area of the dig where she was working reveals some script carved into the wall in a language she does not recognize, she thinks her thesis may be vindicated. When the dig head comes to see what she has found, hes followed by another worker who after one look pulls a gun and kills the head archeologist and turns towards Siobhan. When she scrambles to get a way, she falls down a shaft into a stream of water and manages to make her escape. Not home free she is picked up by fake Israeli solders and spirited away for questioning. The rest of the book follows her rescue by a tour guide and ex Israeli agent as they try to avoid the terrorists, and the government agents led by the hoped to become the new head of the agency. Another good story and an author to watch for.

The Prophet Conspiracy is well written and the plot was great. It is a thriller laced with lots of suspense and plot twists. The characters are well fleshed out and I found myself rooting for Siobhan from the beginning.

Siobhan McLane, an American tourist, goes on a dig in Jerusalem in hopes of discovering an ancient artifact that will back up the conclusion to her thesis, which was stolen by her professor and made out to be his own. Her path to prove it takes a turn for the worse when she finds herself running from terrorists that want to kill her. Cameron Dorn, a tour guide, whom she met earlier in the story comes to her rescue. Together they try to outrun the people hunting them,

The story is filled with conspiracy, blackmail, and deception. The descriptions of Jerusalem and surrounding digs made me feel like I was right there. I look forward to reading more by this author. Highly recommended.

Another great one!

Greenwood does it again. His storytelling keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next shoe to drop. I really enjoy his style of writing. The only disappointment is that I think I've read all of his books.

Original approach to Palestinian issues, a way to peace or to conflagration?

A young American student, Siobhan, submits her doctoral thesis in archeology, only to have it stolen by an associate professor, Hendricks. He accuses her of plagiarism, stating that the research is his, and submits it for publication. She is tossed out by the university and isn't able to complete her doctorate anywhere. Her background severely limits her job choices as well and she becomes a low salaried church secretary (despite her doubts about God permitting the loss of her life long dream.) Two years later, she is chosen for a scholarship when church members arrange a tour to Israel, which was the focus of her archeological thesis. She takes part in a "Dig for a Day" at a site she pinpointed as a probable location for evidence from when Mohamed visited Israel in 700. Siobahn finds an inscription validating her thesis, only to discover herself in mortal danger from a Hamas member who would do anything to keep her from uncovering the secret that refutes the Palestinian claim to the Dome of the Rock, built on the ruins of the Israeli temple. She escapes only to find herself labeled as a murderer of her coworkers at the site, killed by the hamas agent. She runs into the guide, who lead her tour, Cam. He was an American who transferred his citizenship to Israel and served as an Israeli agent until an ongoing disagreement with his boss lead to loss of his job. By assisting Siobhan, he is accused of terrorism. Can these two live long enough to have the false charges against them dropped? Cam who has many friends both Jewish and Muslim, is not in favor of making the find public, believing that fanatic Israelis will demand the Dome razed and the Temple rebuilt, resulting in war with massive casualties. if given the opportunity, will they decide to share the age old secret and trust that it will not result in a major middle eastern religious war? I really enjoyed this original approach to the problems in Israel, told through two Americans, neither of which is religious, and a Palestinian whose "faith" is based on bloodlust, revenge and political aspirations. The plot was a bit weak in places but the story was entertaining enough with sufficient suspense to keep me turning pages. I believe that this novel would attract a wide base of readers from all ages, middle school and older, male and female.

Life or Death Thrilling Adventure

Siobhan McLane, thought that just having her Professor Wilson Kendrick whom she looked up to and admired, take credit for her thesis paper was bad enough BUT being pursued by the murderous Umar was unbelievable! She has no idea why he shot her supervisor? And now he is chasing her with a loaded gun but why?

Siobhan had arrived in Jerusalem as a tourist with her church, but stayed on when they left, to join as a civilian volunteer on an archeological dig; “Dig For a Day program.”
She had been excavating a wall when she found a carved inscription on it. Now she is running for her life!
Cameron Dorn, Siobhan’s tourist guide while she was touring with her church group is clueless to his good looks and charismatic voice. Cam used to work for the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service.
And the Shin Bet is whom Siobhan thinks she is running to while Umar, a foolish and reckless madman, is chasing her.
Surprise surprise they are in cahoots with the madman and are not Shin Bet at all!
Somehow she got away but did she?
Plus she meets up with her tour guide Cam and tells him I have to go with these people, Shin Bet. But Cam having worked for the Shin Bet before knows that who she is going with are imposters!

Why should you read this book?
You need your own interpretation of The Prophet Conspiracy and as you read you will find yourself immersed in a fearless battle with Siobhan and Cam! You will want to pick up arms and fight the rebels who are chasing them. Those who want nothing more than to kill and destroy everything that Jerusalem stands for!

THE PROPHET CONSPIRACY by Bowen Greenwood
Siobhan in Jersulem, mystery of ages past, as she digs, as a civilian volunteer. She has had some good "finds", now to find a wall, what is the inscription on it. Others come, then began the shootings, why had he turned into a madman, Siobhan is running. Maya intelligent career over, with a simple envelope. Cameron a tour guide, keeping a smile on his face, even though Israel was in a constant threat of terrorists. Siobhan gets to hotel, government agents want her, she sees Cameron, he was her tour guide. Are they on the level, and what about Cam. The meeting, the attraction, was still there, between them. What's going on, how can her "find". the shooting, the envelope, that Maya got, all come together. A great thriller, as the pieces come together. Once again Bowen Greenwood has given us a great plot, intriguing characters.
