Rate this book
Do you ever wonder if the Gospel is truly "good news" for your actual, everyday, often difficult, sometimes painful, and typically crazy real life? Well, it is. But sometimes we all need a reminder that God's faithfulness really does follow us into the face of all that harried, hard, and even humorous stuff of life.

In her new devotional LIFE, Lisa Harper gives you exactly that: a gut-level exploration of pertinent and redemptive moments in Scripture that prove God’s grace is more than sufficient for both the massive and the minuscule things of life.

Whether we deal with personal loss, ongoing trauma, global crisis, or simply a super bad hair day, the Gospel is more than enough to handle everything, so dive into LIFE and find some tangible hope for yours!

Lisa Harper is a hilarious storyteller and theological scholar―a gifted communicator whose writing and speaking overflows with colorful, pop-culture references that connect the dots between the Bible era and modern life. “Her God-given ability to not merely teach the Word but package it in a way that stirs the heart and calls to action is incomparable” says Priscilla Shirer. For six years Lisa served as the director of Focus on the Family's national women's ministry where she created the popular Renewing the Heart conferences. The next six years found her serving on the local level as the women's ministry director at a large church in Nashville. As the author of eleven books, and a Masters of Theological Studies with honors from Covenant Seminary, she is now a sought-after Bible teacher and speaker. Lisa was on the Women of Faith national arena tour and speaks at many other large events as well as at hundreds of churches all over the world. Lisa describes her greatest accomplishment to date as getting to be Missy’s mama.

This is the perfect devotional book. ! It’s light and easy to read and so funny and relatable all the while including scripture references and questions that help you to apply the story of the day as well as the scripture. The stories are fun to read and I think this would be a fun book to do as a group because most women can relate to dealing with the issues presented in the various scenarios presented every day. Would definitely recommend!

I love Lisa Harper and her adoption story. However, many of the questions in her devotional were closed yes or no questions with such tiny spaces between the bullets that it felt impossible to reflect very deeply. (E.g. “Have you ever felt marginalized in Christianity?”) This is like the “espresso” of devotionals – a quick shot of humor or conviction for the day – and I prefer to sip more deeply and slowly and journal on the page.

I enjoyed this book from start to finish. Lisa explains Bible verses in such a down-to-earth way, it was almost as if we were having a conversation face to face. I also really liked the questions that are asked at the end of each day. They truly help process what you read and also think more about yourself. This book was the first I have read of Lisa's and I can't wait to read more of hers.

Thank you to B&H Publishing Group, Netgalley, and the author for my advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love this author’s writing style. She combines inspiration and humor, along with some solid Biblical observations that can be at times either encouraging or convicting. I enjoyed reading the author’s stories about her own life and the lessons she’s learned along the way. These devotions aren’t a deep Bible study, but a way to remind us that in all seasons of life, God is there for us. While I didn’t necessarily agree with every one of her conclusions, I’m glad I read these uplifting and faithful devotions.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This easy to read, down to earth daily devotional is best suited for Christian moms, although women of all ages can glean wisdom and encouragement from the author’s mix of humor and biblical truths. This book is best for women who are struggling in the messiness of life. I enjoyed starting my mornings with this digestible shot of inspiration and encouragement.

When I looked at the date I started this book, it was in early February 2021. I took me a while to finish it, not because of the book but because of my schedule. I enjoyed the devotional very much. Once I set up a challenge of completion, it moved smoothly. I enjoy Lisa's stories.

I really enjoyed this devotional book by Lisa Harper! She very candidly shares God’s Word and experiences from her life and ministry and uses both to point people to Jesus. She talks about what it means to be “all in” or completely committed to a personal relationship with the Lord, how God has a purpose for each one of us as we live out our faith and share the Gospel, and the gratitude that comes through doing and being all that God has called us to. A great addition to reading and studying the Word in my morning quiet time!

Lisa Harper is a vibrant Southern Belle whose personality shines through this 100-day devotional. Sharing personal stories, life lessons, and encouragement, Lisa’s transparent writing will resonate with a variety of readers, brightening their mornings with her humor, depth, and refreshing outlook on life’s struggles.

Beginning each entry with scripture and ending with a series of questions, I found LIFE the perfect base for my morning Bible studies. Like most devotionals, some days resonate with me more than others, but one constant was Lisa’s inspiring love that poured onto each page. This is a great devotional for those looking to take a closer look at their lives and place God at the center!

I completely agree with the premise of this book that all of the Gospel applies to every moment of our lives. I both liked and disliked this book. The author amusingly gives us several instances in her life where something funny, unusual, upsetting, or mundane happened to her, and she saw the Gospel at work in those situations and provides supporting Scriptures.. She then ask a few questions to help readers make similar applications to their own lives. But I personally was hoping for something more in-depth and theologically grounded. At times the book felt like a comedy routine with Scriptures sprinkled over the top. I think this book would be great for someone relatively new to the faith or someone who had never really considered. how the Gospel applies to all areas of our lives. At this point in my life, however, I needed more meat and less milk. I gratefully received this e-book ARC from the author and publisher in exchange for my unbiased review.

I adored this devotional. I felt connected - more connected than I have ever felt while going through this precious little pink book!

Lisa Harper is an incredible example of what a Christ follower should look like, and the way she incorporates her life lessons alongside God's plan, well, it is truly amazing.

Lisa, thank you for drawing me closer to the Lord in this season of life when I often felt so far.

Such an amazing devo for women of all ages - I started it with my 85 year old nana right before I moved.

Lisa touched on all sorts of different season of life including grief- which is SO important!!

Feeling Grateful, undone by Jesus, Genuinely Happy, and I am not just faking it through the hard stuff!

I can’t say enough about the books Lisa Haper writes. Her authenticity, boldness and humor are three reasons I love to read anything she writes. Her Christian walk has been one of strength! And, she teaches the daily application of a Christ centered life in a way that you can relate to; almost as if you were sitting on the bank porch with her and a good cup of coffee. I enjoy how Lisa uses her personal struggles, God given victories and Biblical wisdom to captivate her readers. Pick this book up for yourself or gift it to a friend. I think you’ll agree that you were immensely blessed and encouraged because of it.

What a great devotional. Lisa Harper has a way of getting God’s Word into your heart. I love to hear her speak and read her books and devotional. This is a daily devotional with excellent titles like “When your spiritual tutor is a toilet” and “Shoo Fly, Shoo”. This is a great pick me up devotional for when your not having a good day or need a little pick me up. It is full of encouragement and would be an excellent gift for a friend.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I first heard Lisa Harper on a podcast. She is a hilarious communicator. I love listening to her stories. However, it took me a few devotions to get into the book because of her wordy writing style. Lisa writes with honesty about her messy less than perfect life. I loved it! I love her. I am always looking for how to live when I am outside of church during my week. How do I live?

Lisa shares real-life stories of her life with her daughter Missy and her relationship with Christ. She shares vulnerable stories, shares a scripture, and asks questions to teach you about the word in our daily lives. I am so glad I read this devotional book. It was a fun journey of 100 devotions over months. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This is a lovely simple devotional. What a great way to share the good news that our Lord and Savior lives and how simple things throughout our day can open a door to bring that good news to others.
This isn’t a profound or preachy tome. It is simply a book about moments in one woman’s life that shows how we all can touch others through our own moments…..we just have to have the courage to share them.

This was an entertaining and very approachable devotional. I feel like this would be appropriate for people both currently thriving or new to their faith. The stories did really well (for the most part) at putting scripture into an accessible and easy to digest example. My only negative critique is that I didn't "get" some of them as being applicable and they just seemed more like the author wanted to share that experience.

I love Lisa Harper, and I love to listen to her speak. I find her inspirational. On that note, I really didn't care much for this book. I thought it would sound like she does when she speaks. I was wrong. Sadly,. I really didn't get much from it at all. I know that there will be others that will. So, I encourage you to try it for yourself.

The most overused word in Lisa's vocabulary: proverbial. But yeah, this is a nice devotional. Her southern style and makes me smile and there are some good little lessons in here. I didn't get through all 100 but I enjoyed the ones I did read. Makes for a great gift for someone newer in the faith (but not totally new).

I love Lisa Harper's openness about not only the things God has done for her, but her own struggles in a million different areas of life. We can't truly see God's goodness without acknowledging what He has done for us, and we can't do that without acknowledging our own problems.
