When Jacqueline (Jax) Warren is in a serious motorcycle accident, firefighter Ryan Hudson is the first to arrive at the scene. Ryan takes a special interest in Jax, particularly when he discovers that her stepmother shows little interest in her. But Jax learned early in life that she can't rely on other people, and her six-year-old half brother is the only person she cares about.
Ryan convinces her to celebrate Thanksgiving with him and his family, to show her that not all families are like the one she's known. When he presents her with an unexpected gift, she finally lets him into her life…and her heart.
Kate spent much of her childhood abroad before attending university in Canada. She built a successful business career, but her passion has always been literature. As a result, Kate turned her energy to her love of the written word. Kate's goal is to entertain her readers with engaging stories featuring strong, likable characters. Kate has been honored with numerous awards for her writing. She and her husband, Ken, enjoy traveling and the outdoors with their beloved Labrador Retrievers.
A wonderful heartwarming story that covers many areas one being of abuse, the love of a child, wicked stepmother, finding love. Kate is a wonderful author that writes stories that touch your heart. She makes you believe in HAE.
Jax has never really had anyone love and care for her until Ryan. The only person who means anything to her is her young brother. Life is hard when you do the best for your brother with a stepmother who at times is cruel. She pushes forward to bring happiness to him but life does get in the way. The one thing she wants for him she is unable to give until Ryan steps in to make her Thanksgiving the best ever.
This was a wonderful touching read which made me sad. It is a story you can relate to with wonderful characters. Kate puts a lot into a short story never leaving anything out.I love this authors work. I always look forward to reading her new releases. This is an outstanding short read.
Kate James' short story, The Firefighter's Promise, explicitly expresses the dangers and plights of motorcycle accidents, as well as the problems which can result from an unhappy home situation. When Jax (short for Jacqueline) is involved in one because of a careless driver, she must struggle to recover, not only from the injuries she sustained, but from the wrecked home life she had endured her entire life.
With only her six-year-old half-brother to love, Jax has little hope in her life--until Ryan Hudson comes on the scene. For reasons he can't fully explain, he finds himself at her bedside day after day, offering encouragement and gifts. And even after Jax is able to go home, he gives her understanding and care she's never had before.
Perhaps her first thanksgiving dinner and exposure to a real family will help her to open her heart to others and find true love.
a sweet story about Jaz's recover after an accident and the man wanting to assist with that recovery. I'm not sure the amount of time passed from accident occurring to thanksgiving event occurring not sure if it was weeks before thanksgiving at the start of the story or it was a matter of days?
Will Jax let Ryan see her true heart? The Firefighter’s Promise by Kate James is a cautionary tale of riding a motorcycle and what could happen in an accident. Ms. James has woven a great story that could become a full-length novel.
In this one Jacqueline, aka Jax, is in a motorcycle accident and Ryan Hudson a firefighter is one of the people who helped her. Jacqueline Warren What I like about Jax is that she is hard working and a go-getter. Jax has her own business that she started. She loves her little half-brother despite who his mom is. What I don’t like about Jax is that she keeps pushing Ryan away and she is stubborn. Ryan Hudson What I like about Ryan is that he loves dogs and figures out way to help people in need. I adore that Ryan is trying to get Jax to open up. Ryan is a great guy and is entirely suitable for Jax. I couldn’t find anything not to like Ryan about. I was totally book-boyfriend-crushing. Five Stars The Firefighter’s Promise by Kate James is another fantastic book. I loved the characters and the story. The Firefighter's Promise is my first book of Ms. James, and it’s a great introduction to her writing.
I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to anyone that loves romances.
