At the height of President Jennifer Bradley's inaugural parade, a bomb detonates, followed by shots from a sniper's rifle. She survives despite the numerous casualties including the Chief White House photographer. The authorities apprehend the only surviving suspect, but before they can interrogate him, he dies mysteriously while recovering in the hospital.
In an effort to hunt down those responsible and prevent future assassination attempts, Special Agent Wade Masterson of the Secret Service recruits photojournalist Xandra Carrick for a dual-role position as the President's Photographer and Clandestine Assistant Operative.
Xandra's uncanny gift of second-sight through the lens of a camera thrusts her straight into the maw of a deadly terrorist plot that runs far deeper than anyone in the intelligence community ever imagined.
But she may already be too late.
In a tale of vengeance, honor and sacrifice, Xandra must draw upon all she has to stop an insidious plot which threatens to bring the country to its knees with a biological weapon that will decimate the nation's population.

It's nice to see a strong female, not perfect but not weak either. This was a mix of my two favorite genres, action and infection/apocalyptic. I felt for these characters but I especially loved the fact that even though the good "guys" won they had to make real life sacrifices. It wasn't just the hero walking away with a few more scars, people died trying to stop the bad guys.
I read book one and felt the same as about it....it started rather slowly and I didn’t think I was going to like it too much but the story picked up to the point I didn’t want to put it down! I’m not much into paranormal psychic stuff but it’s kept pretty minimal and I ended up really enjoying the story.
I liked the female President and the attack on Air Force 1. I did not like Michael and all of his temper, but I thought he should have lived and the President died. I liked the hummingbird, the dog, and some of the images. Overall, I liked the story. I think the US is vulnerable and overdue for something really bad to occur. The author showed a good use of technology within this story.

The book was quite interesting but I found it hit too close to home with the problems facing the country today. Xandras visions, being cryptic rather than clear lent credibility to the story. I did find the characters believable and could emphasize with them. Very good story.
I have to say that this is one of the best books I have read this year! I'm so ready for another one! Xandi is one brave woman and the challenges facing her are HUGE! I have not been so in awe of the hero of a book like I am of this one. Read it and see if you agree. I almost cried a few times, but the ending was not what I expected at all. Excellent.
Having served my country in the United States Navy for 23 years, in my younger days, could not have found a better novel to read. My wife was by my side from 1960 until I retired in 1983, and for 57 years in total. Brings back precious memories, and I thank you for your effort. Respectfully, Michael W Buehrle Sr.
An excellent thriller that pulled you from one page to the next. The was one serious disappointment but I'll let you find it on your own. Oh but I do so want to tell you.
This was very detailed, and So interesting...I think this could( and who knows if it didn’t !) actually happen- all the issues with water, food, legionairs, ect. I will definitely read Josh’s other books !
Graham is a great story teller. It's hard to put this book down! Graham doesn't need steamy sex scenes or profanity to keep the reader's attention. After finishing, I looked for more!
I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a good mystery with lots of compassion. Also, gives you a look at what could be if someone attempted to destroy our country.
Too slow. Too many unrelated side stories. Too log unnecessary log description. If I feel it's going to continue like that after reading 25% I closed the book for good.
I can't say I liked the ending of this book but it was well written and engaging. I was deeply affected by the story and its sometimes dark look at human nature.
Well written didn’t realize it was a faith based book moved well, characters were believeable situations sometimes disturbing hoping nothing like this could ever happen.
Another Great Book by Joshua Graham! This is probably the third or fourth book I have read by Joshua Graham. When you pick up one of his novels, you are sure to be in for a thrilling ride. Latent Image is about terrorism, a former operative out for revenge against the US and the president in particular.
President Jennifer Bradley has recently lost her husband to cancer and has a young child to raise. She is upset as well as her son, that she is not able to spend a lot of time with him. When a virus is let loose onto the unsuspecting populace and a video is sent to her issuing demands, she realize she is in for a long siege. It is a race against time, trying to find the terrorist. The terrorist is working alone in his quest for revenge, not caring who may get in the way.
Xandra Carrick is a photographer who is sent to the White House to be the official photographer, after the previous one was killed. She has two roles, that of a photographer and the other as a clandestine operative assistant. She was chosed for the later because of her second sight abilities. Hopefully she is able to ferret out the terrorist before people become infected with this virus.
Because the terrorist's demands were not met in a timely fashion, the president is infected, the terrorist was able to get on White House grounds with the use of drones. Now it definitely is a race against the clock, the virus attacks quickly with the symptoms being akin to having rabies. Infection is swift and there is no antidote. President Bradley is determined to find this terrorist and stop him before it is too late.
All I can say is wow, what a story, with terrorism being so prevalent across the world, this plot is definitely believable. I loved the characters, especially Xandra and the president's son. This book is a page-turner for sure, and when I am brought to tears during a book, it is a goodie. I give this book 5 stars for sure!
I received a free ecopy of this book for an honest review.
Latent Image is a suspenseful thriller that is difficult to put down. It not only had me on the edge of my seat, but it had me in tears a couple times.
The main character, Xandra Carrick, has been hired to be the President of the United States’ official photographer after the previous one was killed in a terrorist attack. Xandra was chosen not only for her photography skills, but also because she has a gift. She has visions and the head of the Secret Service hopes that her visions may help keep the President safe.
Latent Image really packs a punch. There is a terrorist on the loose who has a personal vendetta against the President and he wants to take down as many U.S. citizens as he can, especially the President. Xandra finds out that he’s not the only problem. She’s told that there is a secret organization that controls global balances, the economy, and political power, and they will kill anyone who gets in their without a second thought.
This story is told so well that the character of Xandra felt like a friend by the time I got to the end. It is definitely a must read for anyone who likes thrillers.
Every now and then I read a novel that grips my emotions to their depth. Latent Image by Joshua Graham does that with Latent Image, the second book of of the Xandra Carrick series.
The U.S. has just elected the 1st female President, Jennifer Bradley. During the walk following her inauguration, a bomb detonates and shots are fired. While Jennifer and her son Michael are not hit, the presidential photographer is killed.
Xandra is chosen to become the new photographer. She is actually serving in a duel capacity. Not only is she a photographer but has also been trained to be an undercover agent. She inherits an ex-military dog, the general, finds an uncle that she never knew existed and has a strong connection to Michael.
Latent Image is emotionally charged especially in light of the terrorism that exists in the world and with the Paris bombing being so recent. The U.S. is under attack. An unexpected hero sacrifices their life to save the world.
This is by far the best book by Joshua Graham and I have love all of his books.
Fast paced page turning seat gripping no figuring it out when you think you are read! Well written and a story that keeps you on edge! This author throws you completely in a loop when you think the next page is all worked out for you. An amazing mystery/thriller book!
