Standalone. No Cliffhanger. Not suitable for readers under the age of 18. Edited by Suanne Laqueur
I write contemporary romantic suspense novels with pulse-racing suspense and mystery. Steamy romance is guaranteed. An unapologetic lover of romance, I believe love can change a life.
Reading brings me joy and is my inspiration to write. While in college, a couple writing courses fueled my desire to write. My book characters' voices and their stories rattled around in her head, demanding attention for years. Finally after I retired from the computer software industry, I listened. You can read about them in The Kiss of Life and Hinged. I'm a member of Romance Writers of America.
I live and write in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia USA with my husband and our big goldendoodle dog, Louie, and Purrcy, the spoiled ragdoll cat. Purrcy makes an appearance in two of my books. My husband and I are the proud parents and grandparents of three amazing adult children, five rip-roaring grandsons, and one enchanting granddaughter. When I'm not writing or spending time with my family, you’ll find me reading.
It was so hard to rate this book. Many elements made it worthy of five stars but because not everything went my way, I had to settle with four.
Cooper and Robin are soulmates. Destined to be together forever, they've been separated for seven years because Robin went missing and was pronounced legally dead. Without a body, Cooper refused to believe she was really gone and never gave up his search for his one true love. And there begins a spiral into what really happened to her and believe me when I tell you, this story is NOT pretty.
Full Disclosure: My heart broke so many times during this book. So freaking many and I absolutely bawled my eyes out at the 83% mark for Ram Gunn. After all of his sacrifice, loyalty, devotion and love, he ended up with nothing. He didn't get his own happy ending and it made me terribly sad.
This story was heartbreaking and then eventually heartwarming. With the suspense and through the flashbacks, my heart felt like it was constantly racing. There was barely a calm moment to be found. Or if it seemed serene, it was the calm before the storm. I was sad, confused, angry, ecstatic, and reduced to tears. This author has a real talent because getting me to leak one drop is a herculean feat. I'm incredibly interested to find out who will be covered in the next story of this series and I must admit that I hope it's not Ram. I'm not ready for him to have his story yet. I need some emotional distance. I hope Steele is up next because he sounds not only mysterious and intriguing, the description for him was extremely hot!!
Release Date: March 14, 2017 Genre: Romantic Suspense POV: Dual - 1st person Steam: 2.5 out of 5 Book Type: Standalone - Book 2 of the Soul Mate Rescued series
There were many twists and turns I never saw coming! I was intrigued by this book in the first chapter and then couldn't put it down. The characters are very well developed. The author made you feel Robin's confusion about feeling something for someone when she has amnesia and her pain when she remembers and realizes all she's missed. There are two heroes in this book that will melt your heart. Hoping to see more of them in future books! I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Coopers story! Let’s just say it was an emotional ride to say the least! I Loved how Char keeps the pace up in this second book and how just when you think your heart couldn’t break anymore for Cooper and Robin aka Bird , then another part of the story would shatter your heart. There’s light at the end and with references to two of my favorite books ( The Bronze Horseman & Outlander) I knew this book would have a long road to get to the HEA! I can’t wait for the next installment of Char’s Wonderful series!
Hinged by Char Sharp leaves me with a lot of mixed emotions. It is the second book in the “Soul Mate Rescued” and I have to admit I did not read the first book and this is also my first book by this author.
When I considered reading this book I was already having mixed feelings. The first time I read the Blurb I thought – that sounds good – then I started overthinking it and decided against it – only to come across it again thinking “OK lets do it before I overthink this again”. The reason ? Obvious I have triggers when it comes to certain plots and “the other man” is one of them.
I was not sure where this plot would lead me and that left me open for doubts. Well my” as little as possible spoiler” policy does not allow me to elaborate but I can tell you that in the end it was not those doubts that left me with mixed emotions. It was more the way the storyline was pursued.
The author really has a great plot here at her hands but it felt to me like there were moments when she could have savored certain strings more. Because this story should have as much romance as there is suspense and with a plot like that certain things need to be made the most of.
There is more in here much more and especially in the beginning the romance part felt more “clinical” to me. I could not feel Cooper being in love I only HEARD that he was and Robins’ amnesia was … (not sure how to say something without saying something)
The suspense however is something the author really managed to transfer to the reader, the writing is well developed and well constructed.
I am pretty sure someone will be screaming at me but throughout the whole book something must have gone wrong with my attention span because my favorite character is Ram… He was the most developed person in the book to me. For the sake of the storyline I am not about to disclose if he was the good, the bad or something in-between but I would like to hear more about him.
Not sure what the first book in the series was about, if Cooper appeared in there and if the reader would know more about him by reading that book. As it was I was thrown into a situation where I could not feel the love that Cooper was supposed to be feeling for Robin, it felt more like the SEAL that was trying to solve a problem.
Again I need to say that the author has a really good plotline at her hands but for my taste it is a little too much suspense and I would have loved to feel more of the romance.
Hinged is the second book in the Soul Mate series. While I enjoyed book 1, book 2 caught my attention from the very first paragraph and immediately sucked me into the story. I was intrigued with the plot and eager to find out what was going to happen. I typically hate when there are 2 possible love interests but in this book, I surprisingly didn't mind it. I was equally interested in both Ram and Cooper. The ending felt right and satisfying, and I'm very much looking forward to book 3.
This book caught my attention and kept my interest from the beginning. The author did an excellent job of keeping me intrigued throughout. Cooper & Robin have a unique love story full of angst and sweetness.
I was anxiously awaiting this book after reading Char Sharps's The Kiss of Life. Cooper Baron was an intriguing character and I wanted to know what made him tick. Little did I know that the suave security expert harbored such a heartbreaking past. Hinged tells of Cooper's devastating loss seven years ago of the love of his life, Robin Finch. Set to meet him while he was on leave from the SEALs, Robin's car went over an embankment and she was never found. Cooper never gave up the search for his love, often trying to find solace in women who reminded him of Robin, he could never give up hope of finding her. While he could not forget her, circumstances had taken all of Robin's memories. For seven years the man whom she thought was her husband had protected her and they had been living off the grid. The only man she could remember in her life, she loved Ram but never felt in love with him. A chance encounter with her past throws Robin's life and memory into a tailspin, as well as back into the path of danger. This book has so many layers, first and foremost it is a beautiful love story. The time the couple spent apart did little to quell the passion between them. Robin's repressed memories add a delicious, if painful, layer to the story, as well. As she remembers, the passion and the agony she has to deal with grabs the reader's heart and soul. Add in the computer hacking subplot and the people after Robin and Ram and you have an intriguing suspense read. Cooper is a sexy, romantic, alpha male, while Ramsey's storyline pulls its influence from today's headlines of cyber hacking and pirating of intellectual property. I thoroughly enjoyed Hinged and loved the fact that Ms. Sharp updated the reader on the characters and their lives from the first book. John and Elizabeth Cole are one of my favorite book couples, now I can add Cooper and Robin to the mix. This story is fast-paced and the characters are well developed. I loved that the book did not follow a formula; the mix of subplots comes together to make a delightful read. I'm curious to see what book might be next in the Soul Mates Rescued series might be.
Wow! Hinged was completely unexpected. I haven't read a book from Char Sharp before so I didn't know what to expect. She did not disappoint at all. This book's blurb really captured my attention. I HAD to read this book, because I was instantly intrigued with the mystery of it. But, I also realized that Hinged is book two in the Soul Mate Rescued series. Yes, Hinged is a standalone in this series, but I still like to read the books in order. In case these characters did pop up in the first book. But overall, I still enjoyed it so much! I don't feel as if I missed anything from not reading the first book. The author did a fantastic job with the plot. The way Char Sharp weaved everything together and set up everything to unfold the way it did was absolutely brilliant.
Robin had a wonderful life with her fiance. She was on her way home to see him when the unexpected happens, and she disappears. Some believed she was dead while others never stopped looking. Seven years later, she is living a secret life with Ram. Always hiding and using different names. On that day in the store, she runs into a man whom she instantly has a connection with. She feels it down in her bones that she knows him, but it frightened her so she ran. Robin has no memories of she is or remembers anything about her past. She woke up and Ram was the only one there so she believed whatever he told her. Robin really didn't have a choice but to take his word. She has been living a whole other life without her fiance. So I understood her feelings when Cooper came back into her life. Confusion, heart ache, sadness. It was very hard to let one of these guys go, but her heart always belonged to her other half. What happened to Robin was truly tragic. It tore me to pieces once she remembered what happened beyond the door. Utterly devastating. Why was Robin drawn into this mess? Why does she have a target on her back now?
Cooper never forgot about the love of his life. He turned his life completely around to search for Robin. I felt sorry for Cooper. He was lonely and wouldn't allow himself to be close to another woman. He took what he needed from them to feel the void. Once he sees his little Bird again, he hunt her down. Didn't stop. But, Cooper had to come to some tough realizations. She didn't remember him, and she had a life with Ram. Slowly she remembers though. He tries to give her time to heal, but I don't think he gave her enough time. If someone suffered something as traumatic as what Robin went through, I felt as if Cooper should have given her time to heal and come to terms with everything. Robin was confused and hurting. I just felt as if they rushed back into everything too quickly. I tell you what though, he was one kick butt character. The way he fought those men, he would always be able to protect Robin. He never gave up on her and was there for her from the moment he found her.
Ram is my favorite character from this book!! He is a genius, a child prodigy. He is also one of the best hackers there is. And he loves working in the medical field. Ram is a very complex character. He is a man of many mysteries. He was more of a hero than a villain. What he did was selfish in a way, but I also understood why he did it. He wanted to protect her, but also he wanted to keep her for himself. He really did love her. I was constantly wondering if he was the good guy or the bad guy. Ram was a very intriguing character. I really felt sorry for him in the end though. After everything he did, all the sacrifices he made, he didn't get anything. No happy ending. He lost the one thing he loved and has loved for a long time. I am hoping to see more of him in the future.
This is one of those books that I was torn between the men. I know who she belonged with, but she seemed perfect for Ram as well. And I really liked Ram. I wish there was a lot more romance in this book between Robin and Cooper. I had trouble connecting with their relationship. It just didn't seem as if there was anything there at times and then everything was rushed. I would have loved to see them rekindle their feelings in a passionate and meaningful way.
Hinged was an enthralling read from start to finish. I did not want to put down this book once I started it. This book has everything in it. Love, romance, mystery, action, suspense, secrets and betrayals. I will definitely have to read the first book in this series now. Hinged took me an emotional journey with several twists and turns. I loved and adored the characters and I hope I see more of them. And Cooper's team is flat out awesome. I am hoping that those men get books of their own as well!
*I was provided a copy of Hinged by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*
Seven years ago, Cooper Baron lost the love of his life. Robin Finch disappeared, and no matter how hard Coop tried to find her, it was like she no longer existed. But he didn’t give up, and he won’t until his soul mate is back in his arms.
Robin Finch has no memory of her life prior to seven years ago. She’s been living with Dr. Ramsey Gunn, as his wife, but deep down she knows he’s not the love of her life. Robin and Ram have been on the run, hiding in the shadows with Ram erasing any electronic evidence of their existence before it can be found by those hunting them. Until the day Robin runs into Cooper Baron, and something in her mind—and her heart—is unlocked.
What should be a sweet reunion is in actuality confusing and life-threatening. Cooper will need to bring down the person who is trying to kill Robin before they can move on with their lives.
Hinged is book two in the Soul Mate Rescued series and can comfortably be read as a standalone book. It is a romantic suspense story with technology thriller aspects. The author’s style brings out a nice amount of emotion between the characters, and it’s easy to feel their love and despair right along with them. The idea of soul mates physically feeling the presence of their other half, though slightly farfetched for my taste, transferred well in this story. Robin’s amnesia and the subsequent recovery of her memory was handled in what seemed to be a realistic fashion.
The plot of the story focused more on the romance than the suspense or thriller aspects. It seemed to be missing vital pieces of information regarding the investigation into the threat against Robin, focusing instead on Robin’s life once she was rescued. Since it was told from both Robin and Cooper’s point of view, I would have liked to see what Cooper was doing behind the scenes to locate and take down the threat. Even after the climax, I wanted to know more about how the climax occurred since the reader wasn’t provided the information prior to that.
Overall, this was a good romance story, and if you enjoy reading a straight romance it could be worth your while. I would have liked to see it a little more rounded with the information that was brought into the plot, but I would probably still try another book by this author.
Wow!!! I couldn't put it down! The details, suspense, leading characters...the twists n turns... at midnight, I found myself with eyes burning from needing to sleep but the inability to stop reading.
Where does "Birds" heart and soul belong? As she looks to someone who has kept her safe but motives unclear, she questions everything but can't deny the connection. Yet, she knows her souls belongs somewhere else.
This is a terrific story told in Ms. Sharp's signature crisp style. I liked Robin very much - a smart, sexy and multi-dimensional woman - and I really felt her conflicts over her feelings for Ram and Coop. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I know who I want to read about. ;)
This is the first book I've read by this author but it certainly won't be the last. It was a roller coaster and for most of it I couldn't sit still or decide what to feel..it was up and downs and so many different emotions. Robin was abducted and declared dead, but her fiancée, Cooper, ex navy seal, didn't believe in her death..he kept looking for her, until one day, seven years later, there she was. I wish I could say it was a breeze from that point, but it got way more complicated and emotionally invested. Robin as flashbacks and Cooper is trying to find the person responsible for her disappearance..the one who rescued her and helped , Ram, is involved as well..and I wasn’t sure about his motives at times. I loved it and was so invested in the story..it was fast paced, with action as well as emotional times. Robin, Ram , Cooper and his security team..so many characters..can't wait to see who's next.
I literally just finished this book and don´t know how even to explain how much I loved it.
Hinged by Char Sharp is book two in the Soul Mate Rescued Series and is a contemporary romance novel with no cliffhanger. Hinged can be read as stand alone . Book one The Kiss of Life is Elizabeth and John´s book.
Meet Cooper Baron, he doesn´t do relationships since his fiancée Robin vanished years ago. He is a ex-Navy Seal and has his own business, a security company. Robin is married to Ram. She has memory loss and can´t remember anything of her past. But she has bad nightmares, like really bad ones. One day they run into each other, literally. He rescues her and everything could be sunshine and unicorns. But no. There is more, so much more. Robin starts to remember bits and pieces and then comes all back. She was kidnapped and tortured, so cruel and violent I had no words. I was speechless, literally. They did unspeakable things to her. She doesn´t know where she belongs anymore and who she belongs to. Both men want to help her, want to heal her. Which one does she choose?
This story has everything in it from love, heart break, pain, humor and sex, hot steamy sex. Reading Hinged, I could feel the characters emotions in the words. I loved the characters(mostly-No Spoiler) and I loved Char Sharp´s words. This book stays with you. 5 Stars and Thank you Char Sharp!!
This book is full of twists and turns and I enjoyed the thrill of the ride immensely. The story starts off a little slow and stuffy, then you can feel when the writer allows the story to catch wings and fly without specific direction. It truly opens up into a beautiful story of fighting for the life you're wanting and the love you know you're missing.
There are some major obstacles and turning points to this story I would love to tell you about, but I'm not a cruel person to ruin the surprise for you.
I was on the edge waiting for something drastic to happen at all times. Trust me, they happened but not like you would expect.
I loved that I could follow the road map in my brain as they traveled around to all the places/cities I've been to myself. I feel it takes the book a little deeper when the geography is real and accurate.
This is a must read! Will you find your Happily Ever After?
Loved Cooper and Robin.... The start of the book was a little rough for me to start, but as I got reading I couldn't put it down. I love books that catch me and make me want to do nothing other then read. As I was reading and getting further into the book things from the beginning started to come together. I can say that I loved this book and would say it's a must read......... ❤️
The.last half of this book flew by. What an adventure story. Navy seals, terrorist, docto, criminal masterminds. All wrapped around a sweet love story. Love that the though that love hinged together helps you remember. True love always wins!
This is my first book from this author given an ARC for review and she did not disappoint. I could not put this book down took me less then 2 days to read. I really love the characters and how there was so much suspense and act to the book. I have not read the other book in this series but I am getting ready to start it. Char has me hooked and she is an author that I will be following to watch for her next books. The three main people in this book Cooper Robin and Ram where great together they all had so much chemistry. Can't wait to read about what happens to Ram.
Char Sharp is a new author to me and one I will certainly read again. I personally felt destroyed a few times through this book so tissues and alcohol are a must (especially at the 80%mark). My heart broke a few times throughout this book and I really felt like I had gone through the ringer with all the emotions this book invoked.
This is a brilliantly written story full of suspense and some simply brilliant twists and turns. I'm not actually sure in the end as to which love interest I was cheering for more. Only one thing that made me not give 5 stars is that i didn't feel the connection between Cooper and Robin quite as much.
I will definitely be checking out book 1 and any others in this series
⭐️I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of his book in exchange for an honest review from the author and Next Step ⭐
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily wrote an honest review. So honored to receive an ARC of this book. Absolutely loved book one of the series, and while they can be read as standalones, you will get so much more from them if you read them in order as a series. Like book one, this book is also very well written. I think the story-line flows so well and everything about it is very believable. Never once does the story drag or feel forced. I was sucked in before the end of chapter one! One of the things I loved about it was that it held my interest from cover to cover and unlike some books, it didn't suck you in and then fizzle out after nine or ten chapters. This book kept me on the edge of my seat until the end! Also, I felt a very significant connection with the characters in this story. The characters are very well developed and leave you feeling like you actually know them. I really hope that we hear more from Ram. I know some people may hate him but I really like him and his part in this story is one that I would love to see more of. I look forward to reading more from Char.
Hinged by Char Sharp is one of the most intense, on the edge of your seat, thrilling romances you are ever going to read. I was instantly pulled in and never put it down till I got to the end. I was so connected to every word and every page. It was like I was feeling Robin's confusion, betrayal and love. Such a great story.
I absolutely adore Char's characters. She always writes these amazing characters that I can't stop thinking about and I'm instantly messaging her begging her for more. This book was no different. I was infatuated with Cooper Baron. A man who holds on to the love of his life for years and never gives up hope of finding her is one heck of a man. I couldn't help but admire Cooper because he would stop at nothing to protect Robin and love her. He was phenomenal.
Be prepared for all kinds of twists and things you will not see coming. I was blown away with everything Robin had to endure. It was so dark and so heartbreaking what she remembers. I was so emotional through this book. I didn't know who Robin could trust or what would come next, but by the last page, I was smiling and content. Such remarkable writing.
So if you love a story about soulmates finding love all over again and fighting to overcome the past, then you are going to instantly love this book. I was so fascinated with this book and I cannot wait for more of this series.
I give Hinged by Char Sharp 4 out of 5 HINGED TOGETHER STARS!
Hinged is a well-written, engaging tale. This is my first read by this author, so I didn't know what to expect. What I found was a fast-paced story that kept me turning pages. Overall, it's a good book full of secrets that you don't see coming and an action-packed climax.
A beautiful love story wrapped up in a fast-paced storyline with well developed characters and a delectible mix of subplots that come together to make a quite interesting and enjoyable read
